Why are there so many behind closed doors friendlies?

This is becoming the norm now for a lot of teams in the past few years. Don't have to pay the costs of stewarding, police, etc for a friendly with small ticket sales at lower costs. Clubs can kick off when they want, play back to back matches sometimes, arrange it last minute, etc.

Because quite a few friendlies get cancelled at the last minute. Barcelona pulled a friendly at PNE as PNE were only going to field under 21’s due to injury worries.

That's the one thing that's disappointing with the club, why can't they put the teams, subs on social media after the game has finished.

It's either a really lapse oversight or done deliberately. I'd guess we had a trialist or two involved.
