U18/U21 Development Thread (2 Viewers)

If (IF!!!!! Ha!) we are promoted, what happens to the U18/21? Do they stay in the Professional Development league or do they move?

I think that's linked to the status of the academy.

Are our youth teams just completely shit now?

Bottom of the U18 League. Near the bottom of the U21 league.

It was played at the Alan Higgs on Tuesday and we lost. 0:2.

All good - "Covsupport News Service" on Facebook confirmed it.

After the 6-0 loss to Watford, this was mildly better, but Huddersfield U21s looked largely a level above.

I think the core of the U21s are out on loan (and it's a small squad anyway), and although this game only featured one trialist, there's been zero consistency in personnel with a lot of trialists getting a run out.

A lot of the U18s have featured for the U21s and this may have affected the U18s team as well.

Yeah looks like a different (and welcome) approach this season. Players like Yearn could be dossing it around in our u21s league but he's gone out on loan and Chesham are on fire, aiming for promotion. He's got something like 6 goals and 5 assists too (guesstimate).

Perry at Rochdale in an epic title battle that will go down to the wire. He'll learn so much from that.

Moore starting every game for Solihull etc.

Will they make it? I doubt it now we are practically prem but with Perry and Moore they've probably secured themselves league 1 loans next season whilst with us and if they nail that, who knows.

But yeah, without waffling we've sent all our better u21s and below out (Mantle at 18 years old playing loads of games at nat south level is really good) so our results have sufferee

Perry could have a future here. Certainly worth keeping him around another year and sending him on loan to a league team.

Looked up Pennybont's badge to figure out which lad it was. 😁 Still unsure.

I have watched him a few times this season and been really impressed by him. He has definitely got something about him. Be interesting to see where the club see his pathway and if they give him a new contract in the summer.

Just scored the final penalty in the final to send them up. Looked solid all game, i think the lads got a big future

We should keep him just to take our pens! He lashed the ball like it had wronged his family 😂🎉

Season of my dreams this. We go up as champions and a sky blue lad gets my pet team promoted too 💙💙💙

Been banging on about this kid for a while. I hope we loan him out rather than permanent move

Need to keep him, send him to L1 and give him a pathway to our 1st team. Best kid i have seen in a while, injury free potentially a very good player.

Very good player for his age. But he is another that could be at a disadvantage of our success. If we were in the championship, could see him getting minutes. But unfortunately, the promotion has put a stop on that.
Regardless of what our decision is, I really can see him being a very good EFL player with his athletic ability!

Sounds like a loan might be a good option for both parties. Give him the chance to develop and kick on.

Wonder if Callum Perry will end up following Jim McNulty to Stockport. Would be a solid move for him on loan and McNulty has already brought in Kyron Gordon from Rochdale and is linked with taking Ollie Whatmuff on loan from Man City so he'd have a lot of the same players around him as last season at Dale.

Did he? Maybe it's a short term thing?

This report from a 2024 made it sound like he'd signed up properly as a student.

Moore on season loan to league two Walsal. Great move for him. Impress there and see what happens next.

I see Batanwi and Perry are in Spain with the first team.

I don't think I've seen this officially reported anywhere, but we've signed winger Billy Cullinane from Brighton. He's also known as Billy-Ray.

Or here if you don't want to visit Musk's hellsite.

He's still listed as unattached on sofascore.

3 2 win at Leamington Batanwi scored and got more minute in his legs, so will not be with the 1st team at Northampton.
