I actually think he would work well. The creativity from midfield could do with someone making the right runs to find that bit of space. Towards the end of the season Godden started doing it more and more.

Can't see it. He's who we went up to Scotland to scout when we found Rose. Apparently Shankland isn't the type of player we're looking for though. Not sure he's played SPL yet has he?

Also got to remember we’ve significantly changed our style since agreeing that deal for Rose, that was a 4231 when having a target man was more important.

Josh ruffles linked. Obviously ex cov, released from us but came through the academy with Wilson, Willis and Co. Established himself in a decent Oxford team but not sure there's much in this.

Lyle Taylor finished at Charlton worth a punt.

Be more than a punt. Guaranteed goals but surely a top Champ team will outbid/wage us here

Yeah Brentford were heavily linked before I think. Not sure we've got much chance on this one.

The rumour is he's set for a big move. Potentially Burnley or Rangers.

He's always been a tit against cov. Didn't he turn us down for a Scottish club about 8 years ago then every time he scores he winds us up. Did it during bakayoko infamous double I think

Brentford been an established Champ team for years now, in the play off hunt all season, well managed and coached and well resourced by their owners They are moving to a new stadium in the summer after selling Griffin Park (prime development Location in central London) for an absolute premium. I watched them beat Luton 7-0 earlier this season - made me realise the gap between where we are leaving and where we are going.

I'm sure Pressley said we were offered Taylor when he was at Scunthorpe one January. He had been pretty poor at Scunthorpe though and we didn't take him.

I hadn't read much about their new stadium, just seen it on YouTube and I really like the design of it. Hopefully our new one will look a bit like that when it's built in 2085

So...Coventry City Who?

The closest I got to Brentford was looking at the results and a tenuous link to Brentford Nylons.
The club has certainly fallen off its perch.

I walked past it a few months back, got close enough to see through to the pitch at a distance. It’s superb. Doubt the atmosphere will be the same as Griffin Park but their owners have a real plan to try to the Prem and dedication to the club. Really hope we can follow suit.

First 10 games he was unstoppable. On that form you'd say bigger clubs would be interested

Always preferred him to McCallum. Hope he gets the left back berth again next season and proves his class for us in the Championship.

He was class those first few games, reminded me of Man United’s Patrice Evra but came out the side can’t remember if it was injury or not and Sam McCallum just grew into the position and hardly ever put a foot wrong that’s fair enough, doesn’t mean Mason has all of a sudden become a poor player.

The thing I find frustrating with Mason is his distribution - he loses the ball too often with stray passes. Sort that out and he could be good enough.

I think Masons better in a back four than as a wingback TBH.

Yeah, this was correctly pointed out to me on here. I dunno if he can adapt his game. Basically I think he’s going to have to if he wants to cement his place in the team. I’m hoping Fankaty has had him round his house/garden for the duration of lockdown...

I like Mason and hope he can prove a point, he was good at the start of last season as has been said.

You'd have to say he's the weakest of our back 6 though now so could be a squad player, and with the Giles loan, i think that probably shows Robins thoughts on him as well...maybe

I like Mason, but he was dreadful away at Rotherham, and barely featured since. It's an area we need to strengthen in my eyes

In fairness to Mason since Sam McCallum got into the team and kept his spot justifiably I think, he hasn’t had enough games, well hardly any games to be fair to make his mark and also our way of playing changed a bit since he lost his place, as I said before he hasn’t suddenly become a poor player but looking at it from another angle MR brought in young Ryan Giles from Wolves on loan to cover the left wing back roll, I assume there must be a reason.

I know from that game you couldn’t make up how we have overtaken Rotherham and become the best team in the division by a distance in my opinion, as they say footballs a funny old game.

He still has his moments but generally he's been strong in this second half of the season. I'm not convinced about his ability to step up to the Championship though - I fear we could see a few more of those Rotherham days if he's first choice.

I think he got told to stop being a playmaker after that. Do you remember he'd almost pushed Walsh and Co off the ball to start doing quarter back passes. I'm certain after that game Robins said mate, just keep it simple and let Kelly and Co be creative.

To me anyway it looked like his game was tweaked and creative influence reduced

Talking McFadzean he became for us what at a higher level for example John Terry became for Chelsea, not the quickest or fastest, not the best technically but an essential piece of the defence, a mister reliable, I just wish he was five years younger.

What do we think we need:
New LB (either Cover or First Choice).
New CB (Mcfadz dropping to the bench).
Liam Kelly replacement
Callum O'Hare or other
Liam Walsh or other
New Striker to compete with or force Godden down to the bench. Can't rely on Godden alone with Biamou/Baka as backups in the Championship.

Bakas out of contract I expect he’ll be off.
