Time for Lampard to go? (2 Viewers)

Let’s just accept and be happy with watching something that clearly doesn’t work instead then.

Great 👍
Transitioning a team takes time. It is fine margins and fine tuning. Fans would throw the baby out with the bath water given a chance. One way of looking at it is look at where we are after the last 25 years. Then look at where Manchester United are after the last 25 years. There is one point in it which is bonkers when you look at the different paths.

Is it actually as bad as we think, yes yesterday wasn't great but the three before that, spurs we were ok against a decent team and the two before that we won.We could have scrapped a point yesterday.
Just looking at the league table, we are 5 points off 6th place after 8 games and we have the same amount of wins as Brentford (6th) and Leeds (7th) and only 2 less wins than Liverpool (4th) and Chelsea (5th).
I think ease off the doom and gloom till the end of November fixtures (4 more potentially winnable games). If we haven't won any more games by then I will probably join in with doom and gloom.

They have hardly played ( new players).
It takes time to integrate and you need a certain level of continuity. There is a team of 11, plus 9 subs from a squad of 25 plus we have 3 under 21’s.
People will miss out. 9 out of 10 new signings have been used at some point.

It certainly does under Frank. Can't see what is in front of him.

We could also say look at where Brighton are after the last 25 years. Or Brentford.

Over two and a have seasons Torp has made 58 starts and completed a full 90 mins on 9 occasions. His highest volume of starts were 5 in his first season. Not sure why you think he should be a nailed on starter at this level. He is often poor when he starts. Yes great squad player and has a great set piece. But he ain’t the missing piece
I didn’t say he’s the missing piece, but he knows how to take a decent set piece, knows how to ping a pass and we’re leaving gaping holes in midfield all the time. Plus he’s played reasonably well in the limited minutes he’s played as has Simms. Wouldn’t hurt to try something different would it?

I honestly think that the majority of the issue is with Frank’s selection and the way he’s been setting us up. It’s very clear that he feels we’re inferior to everyone and that is rubbing off on the players. He’s setting us up to sit behind the ball with the primary focus on plugging gaps and defending the box. Then hoping we either nick something à la DaSilva, from a set piece/long throw or a Rudi “moment”.

Of course we are going to create very little. He’s not playing any midfielders with any “craft” that’s why Grimes plays, it’s nothing to do with dictating play or his passing ability. Frank trusts him the most to essentially occupy threatening areas and block passing lanes. If he wanted goal threat and creativity at the expensive of some defensive work rate. He would play Torp/Hamer/Gboho/Tchaouna etc.

This isn’t intended as a post to dig out Grimes either. He was fantastic last season but he needs time to operate which is a luxury in the PL and he doesn’t have the physicality or ability to give himself that yard. It was very apparent in matches like Spurs. He was a boy chasing around a man in Tonali.

IMO, Frank needs to trust Onyeka in the 6 and rotate between Torp, Hamer and Rudi for the other 2 positions to give us craft. I’d also play Yirenkyi at RB (Milan is terrified). Give Gboho/EMC and Tats/Tchaouna freedom to express/get forward and actually give the opposition something to think about because at the moment BTA and Tats primary job is to help out the fullback and sit behind the ball, not provide attacking width.

Sorry for the essay.

Hamer clearly isn’t going for be able to be a regular starter this season.

You often post in disbelief about people bedwetting and being negative but have seemingly wrote a very technically gifted player off already. He’s only 29 years old and played 50 mins. We’ve seen how good he is with our own eyes and he was clearly Sheff U’s best player last time they were in the prem. Give the guy a chance no?

You don’t remove a manager who has given you your best season in 25 years, played fantastic, entertaining football, scored bag fulls of goals and made you champions after a 1/5 th of a season in a completely different standard of division, where we are trying to work out our best team from umpteen new signings.
I’m with Martin Keown who on MOTD said he’d been impressed with Coventry.
It’s been a tough start but we’ve only been dicked once against Brighton.
Frank has made some mistakes with selection for sure but you’ve got to at least give him the season and probably the next.

Why has he only played 50 minutes?
You say we've seen how good he is with our own eyes, we've also seen how unfit he is.

Apparently he's working hard to improve that but how long is that going to take?

As I posted on here before, I know a Sheff U season ticket holder who said he’s not the same player that left us and we’d be in for a shock - I posted that on here and got shot down. Nothing suggests that he was wrong. The fact that we’re at the end of October and he’s clearly not fit is completely unacceptable.

The manager said he was absolutely fine in terms of his fitness.

He's spot on about most things but he has irrational dislike for certain players and managers and let's it cloud his views.

I hope he doesn't read the shite that's put on here by some that didn't want him in the first place. As he could say, " show us your medals".
He wouldn't of course. He's a class act.

Tbh my Blunt supporting mate was telling me exactly the same thing and this was well before he was linked with a move back here. Said he'd be more gutted to lose O'Hare. Turns out that little mercenary didn't want to stick around at Bumhole Lane either 😂

Hamer is the only player in our squad with any sort of track record of scoring and creating in the PL.
Give us a rational explanation as to why he's only played 50 minutes in the league given we are lacking creativity.

He rates rudoni and grimes more.

Or he is going with what's familiar

There you got 2 as a bonus

I am still optimistic. (Said we would go down before the season started), but I think we have done okay and managed to compete.

Lack of goals is what's killing us. Having Wright back and then also maybe addressing this deficiency in January, could make a huge difference.

We saw what a couple of wins did last time. Pushed right up to comfortable in mid table.

Reacting now and wondering whether Lampard should go, after just 8 games, is a bit daft in my opinion.

You call that logical!
You will never admit you are wrong. So stubborn. You asked for 2 rational reasons and I have them to you. The fact you think they are illogical and the only possible reason is he's fat shows you up.

Poor start to your monday

Theyre not rational reasons. Lampard picks people because hes familiar with them, fuck me.
You think he'd leave someone with Hamers track record on the bench as much as he does because he sticks to what hes familiar with?
You have a low opinion of the manager.

He's earnt himself some rope getting us here, but Lampard needs to look inwards and start making the harsh decisions.

Some of the players that are starting consistently are not to level and it's a constant disadvantage to be lining up with these players each week.

I'm not the one calling the manager a liar. I would say it's you who has the low opinion

Your argument is about track record but grimes and rudoni have track records in this formation under lampard yet you see that particular argument as illogical 😂

Managers saying something to the media which isnt quite true isnt something new.

You want to read up on some of the stuff that went on behind closed doors under Ferguson at United after it had been played down to the media.
And that's the way it should be.

We've been chasing several games, Hamer has a track record ord in the PL, Im not saying he should be starting but he should be getting more minutes than he is, theres only one reason he isnt.

Let's see what happens as/if he gets fitter, if he starts getting more minutes then that tells you why hes been used so sparingly at the moment.

All of this + overestimating the difference a new manager would make. We need to hold our nerve and stick with the manager.

Gloated he would never come back. Changed mind on physique and said he's in shape that's only reason we signed him. Now desperitly trying to write it off as a failure so saying he's fat again. And of course include a caveat line of if he does well it will be cos he stopped being fat lmao

Lol keep spinning your narrative. Im sure some will lap it up.

Been reflecting on the result over the weekend.

I think Lampard has bigger issues currently than Grimes. The entire style of play needs a re-review for me especially out of possession.

Here is our distance covered, sprints and tackles compared to the rest of the league.

We are too passive in defence. And that’s absolutely by instruction. Lampard has us sitting and dropping further and further back and allows teams to play through us in the hope we can defend the box and not concede long shots.

But in this league that is absolutely something teams can and will do as we have seen so far.

The other big problem is our XG. We have the lowest XG by a fair margin especially when compared to the promoted teams.

From what I can see in the 4-2-3-1 we are still playing the 3-1-6 shape. That just kills any threat we carry. As seen against Fulham, we are too slow as getting into shape and we just don’t have the ability to break them down.

Not sure on what the answer is but Lampard does need to come up with a way, to get us battling and competing in games and not just trying to hang on for dear life and hope something goes in our favour.

Hes contributed 50 minutes in the league. Thats a fact.
You can try and spin that how you like.

Ive consistently said he has in his locker what we're missing, Lampard knows it. If hes match fit he should be playing more, even from the bench.

Alot of players haven't contributed much this season. There is lots of talk about fsvourtism and 8/11 championship starters etc

I'm not saying fitness 100 percent cannot be an issue. I just don't see how you can't be open to any other reasoning other than fitness. To call it illogical is too far imo

I would like to see him start just so can judge him more cos as I have said yaself no point looking at 5 mins cameos on the wing.

Yes, a lot of players have contributed less, and there will be different reasons why for each player.
Lampard clearly doesn't fancy Simms and he'll be gone, hes alluded to issues with a couple of the new lads, not sure what is going on with Torp but I cannot think of any logical reason other than fitness with Hamer.
