Time for Lampard to go? (4 Viewers)

Am very much enjoying these replies saying “we weren’t what you said except for the bits where we were what you said”. I don’t think we were miles ahead of Boro or Hull either TBH. As in when we played them we didn’t look miles better. Before FP pops up to say we won the league again.

We finished 15 points ahead of Boro and 22 ponts ahead of Hull, unkess you've got some metric that you think is a better indicator than the league table.

We’re not shit…ask forest and Newcastle…we’ll beat a lot better teams than Fulham and we’ll lose to a lot worse…keep in touch with teams at the bottom and add a couple more in January…

Not playing like that we won't. Not picking the same players we won't.

You said we 'looked pretty shit'.

You then further doubled down by agreeing that we looked pretty shit whilst scoring loads of goals.

You then confirmed that you equate domination and quality with a possession based game by comparing last season to the League 1 title winning side, which tended to dominate possession, but win games far more narrowly.

You haven't really said anything that wasn't a very restrictive set of parameters for what it means to dominate a division at best, or complete and utter nonsense at worst.

Not even going to bother to read the shite in this thread. 6 points from our first 8 isn’t a great start but it’s certainly not the end of the world, and I’d have snatched your hand off for it after losing 4 without a goal.

Lampard should and hopefully will get the season, I think there’s more to come from the squad and he knows it but it will take some work, improving attitudes and developing players’ games.

He’s not going anywhere imo.

Am I frustrated right now in some team selections and tactics? Yes. Was that always going to be the case? Probably given the gap between the leagues.

Think it’s just going to be a case of watch and see.

Did Lampard say he was match fit?
I know he said he was training well, they're not the same thing
15:05 into the interview, question was asked if Gus is ready, answer was yes. In my mind that means match fit, but he just looks overweight and slow. Don’t get me wrong, I love Gus and hope he can make a difference for us soon!

I didnt see that comment but I agree with how you interpreted it.
He doesn't look like hes got 45 minutes in him to me at the minute.

Apart from Sakamoto for EMC that was the same team that beat put 4 past Newcastle so it was more than capable of beating Fulham. Looks like they were told to just sit in and try and catch Fulham on the break but we were nowhere near, theres enough players in that squad to put out a better 11 than started yesterday. Lampard just needs to be brave and change it

The faith and trust he has in last seasons squad has to be respected. And i have no doubt he genuinely thinks picking these players will create the same performances of last season. Unfortunately the games have shown we dont have the bulk of possession, teritory or tempo in games and we are being forced backwards into being a counter attacking team. He now has to react to that fact and select a team that fits what is happening in front of him. If you are forced to play counter attacking style you need a no8 that can find a positive forward pass once you have win it and have players that are direct and quick into space.

Either FL makes that decision to change personal who don't help whats being seen or he will die on this hill. I hope he changes and would like to see it next week, but fear we will keep going down this path for a while yet.

He gets until Christmas at least for me, however I wish he would stop highlighting that 8 of the team were championship players last year. Feels like he’s using it as some sort of safety blanket for him personally, when in reality the biggest frustration we as the fans have is his loyalty to players who are proving week after week they are not cut out for this level.

Lampard is playing the championship team apart from a couple of kids and Pinnock, he has to start afresh with Tuna and Gobhole and see if they make a difference before all the confidence is eroded from the squad...Over to you Frank!

If Fernandez can be dropped from man united for form (nit just for being loud mouthed) surely Grimes can be.

We need energy/intent/mobility

He’s purely been left out for his comments

Lampard is absolutely unsackable this season but he is making mistakes

Awoniyi is absolutely terrible

The problem is, the trust and faith in last season’s squad is unintended. We brought in at least 5 or 6 players expected to be starters, and with a couple of exceptions, they are not playing. Having seen them play, I’m not sure many of them would make much difference. The centre halves have been good, but apart from that, putting any of the others in the team over what we had last year, is a debate at least. And when Haji Wright is fit, that will probably be one less.

And (and I was shot down for this before the season started) I think last year’s team over-performed, which is a compliment to them.

It’s really hard to see what can be done

I like Lampard, I think he’s done amazing things getting us to the prem. but his stubbornness not to try other players, to bring Awoniyi on instead of having Simms who has scored I feel is costing us and it’s time for him to go!
Let’s become the next Manchester United post Ferguson (check their league position) or a Watford or a Reading.

We have just been promoted, a massive step up, new players to integrate, the old guard getting used to a new level, tactics have changed. You don’t team build by changing players every week.

It’s easy from the stands. Your tactics and subs would always have worked. A player who didn’t play is always better than one that did because they didn’t make any mistakes. Football fans biggest mantra when the going gets tough “Give the youngsters a go.”

I remember a whole chorus of fans saying Ponitcelli was the answer because he would score goals. Just look where his career went and his goal scoring record. At Wrexham he had the golden opportunity to prove he had goals in him.

Don’t know what Torp has done wrong
Over two and a have seasons Torp has made 58 starts and completed a full 90 mins on 9 occasions. His highest volume of starts were 5 in his first season. Not sure why you think he should be a nailed on starter at this level. He is often poor when he starts. Yes great squad player and has a great set piece. But he ain’t the missing piece

Let’s just accept and be happy with watching something that clearly doesn’t work instead then.

Great 👍

17 goals and assists in the championship last season

Like I said he is a good squad player and has a great set piece. But he isn’t a great starter.

They aren't getting " integrated". They are either on the bench or not in the squad!

They have hardly played ( new players).
