Surely taking the knee, in isolation, it is going to do nothing, but it is all part of a movement of awareness. Getting the disparity between black and white in everyone's forethoughts.

I have always known of racism in society in general, but have been hearing so many eye opening stories since this whole thing blew open.

It is just something that is part of the whole movement of bringing awareness.

I do think it has now served its purpose though and the statement has been diluted somewhat.

We’re at point now where you’d have to be completely unaware of what’s around you if you haven’t heard of the movement. I guess their manager had a point when he asked ‘how long are we going to do this for?’

If teams want to take a knee, Let them. If one team doesn’t want to, why would it stop another team? Again, we could have done it, and Jobi McAnuff and his team could’ve done it.

I was disappointed the low-resolution post match coverage was dominated about talking about taking the knee. If clubs want to make a difference, they should ramp up their community engagement/programmes. A 20 second knee before KO is a token gesture. Judge clubs on that.

My personal preference is keep politics out of sport.

@dubed greAt post

blm imho needs to be broken down between historical and today

historically the whole of white western society was to blame and this only started to end in my lifetime

many of us were children when these prejudices were everywhere and in every day media and entertainment. Parents and grandparents would say things which could get you arrested nowadays (and rightly so).

fortunately we are moving on, but unfortunately too slowly

this is similar to treatment of lbgt, and even men v women

we say we are not prejudiced but why is there not a single gay footballer. It would be like the treatment of black footballers in the 80s. many times I am ashamed of chants by our own supporters confirming this

so 100% black Lives Matter but 100% all lives matter whether or not we look like and conform to the majority or not

think also male v female. Fat v thin. Attractive v less attractive. Etc

however these differences should not be ignored but Celebrated. No discrimination but don’t pretend they are not there. I also disagree with positive discrimination. Discrimination is discrimination however you dress it

I am part foreign as are a few friends. When we call each other we are fine with humour around this

so I disagree with taking the knee. I disagree with promoting someone due to race or sexuality, but I detest anybody who uses any characteristic to physically or mentally disadvantage another human

That’s my opinion the only exception is if you are walking around Birmingham and see someone in a claret and blue top!

Of course all lives matter. That is not what the Black Lives Matter slogan is all about.

As has been said before, it is perhaps a clumsy choice of wording and Black Lives Matter Too would be a much better way to have gone with it, but it is all about being treated equally and black people simply haven't been and this has been going on for far too long now.

It is just looking for parity.

We know all lives matter.

I thought taking the knee was a wonderful thing, but I feel it has is served its purpose and lost its power now and new campaigns and ways of keeping it in the public eye need to be brought to the table.

Exactly where I am

Mcfadzean - ref told us
Qpr - how dare you make this a thing we do this this that this that this. If you want to make it a thing ask the fa or the efl to say what should be done
Ccfc - we should do it it’s important I heard qpr said not to

Absolutely brilliant comedy sketch at sky’s expense.

Agree with Otis

Black lives matter too

I am glad there's the ability at QPR for players to make their own decisions.

I'm all for Kick It Out or whatever dance routine or hand signal people might want to invent to promote equality - but if I was part of our team I would not want to take the knee due to my own convictions/POV. I would be very torn between that decision and supporting a team mates' feelings who does. I totally get MR and the team kind of borg collective vs indivduality, so peer pressure and the bigger picture would probably win though.

I would hope discussing the points in the dressing room would be OK and players would listen to each others viewpoints, but dare say like on here, there would be ill feeling and accusations. At least we can ignore each other, bit hard to do that on the pitch.

Exactly my opinion. I support kick it out or any other initiative aimed at racism that doesn't have covert political motivations.

A gammon is anyone who isn't clued up on everything currently politically correct and actively engaged in pointing the finger at everyone else being to blame for the injustices of the world. They're usually older people apparently who know nothing.

If you voted brexit you're gammon irrespective of your age .

If you think taking the knee has run it's course you most certainly are gammon .
If you go on you tube , houch, and type in "Jonathan pie - woke utopia" he'll give you a guide to what defines those who aren't gammon , and what you're missing out on Your life may change forever.

I think being " woke" means you are learned so you can't possibly be gammon , but it means , in essence, you're a twat.

The term gammon is the antithesis of the term snowflake. But rather than get upset and cry about something seemingly trivial they get upset and rage about it til they go red in the face with rage about something minor but is pink beneath that. As a general rule they tend to get upset with black/gay/gender rights going too far whereas snowflakes are more likely to do so because they don't go far enough.

Nah it's a bollocks statement rushed out to try and back up his clubs awful decision.

History shows us that sport and society and quite happy to forget issues such as racism and happily carry on as normal.

Society needs to be continually prodded and reminded of it's long history of inaction.

The statement is spot on and has more common sense in than anything else I've heard on the matter in the last few days.

Sorry I forgot having a great community race relations project exempts you from people thinking you are wrong.

We've already established it's not meaningless as you need to keep something in the publics eye or it will just go away from the public debate. No one said taking a knee with every change anything but it a method of saying we are still here you know,

I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what taking a knee has done to fight racism.

The statement is spot on. It also shows morons up like you trying to call Les Ferdinand and QPR racist. It actually does more harm than good to the cause.
