Transfer Rumour Summer Transfer Window 2026 (28 Viewers)

Is it just me or are we getting linked with progressively worse players as time goes on? Not that there's any truth in most of the rumours but we've gone from Openda, Harvey Elliot, etc

Now we're getting linked with the likes of Jay Stansfield and Pelle Mattsson from Norwich and Radek Vitek instead of Rushworth.
Bit harsh on Vitek considering he won the exact same awards at Bristol as Rushworth did for us, played throughout the Czech Republic age groups. The guy was excellent. Certainly wouldn’t be a downgrade.

other than the goalkeeper I think we’ve got to sit tight, the World Cup is gonna slow the market we’re now in

What do we make of the Ellis montage put together today by the club,a come and get him,or simply a reminder?

But we've got to show Brighton there are other players in the game!

I still think we will make signings that most people haven't heard of. Talk on here of who is available and will they drop wages etc. I just don't think that's the DK way.

I would hope that there are hungry players out there desperate to get a regular first team spot in and prove themselves in the biggest league in the world. very few clubs (obviously) can offer that!

Sign them up on 3 yr contracts with a gentleman agreement to let them go if we go down, hopefully at a profit.

The Stansfield and Mattssom rumours have come from completely fake Twitter accounts.

King reiterating the fact that the current squad will be given a shot at the prem. He’s been consistent with it.

Fair enough, I wasn't following Bristols awards. I just remember thinking he was was pretty poor against us. Poppadom hands for Sakamotos header.

I still think King will say that but we will significantly strengthen. If we don’t we are down on potential record low points.
He’s not going to play his hand and say we’re going to spend x amount or do y because it puts prices up.

Not really, only if you pick and choose which nonsense links to pay attention to. We were linked with Balogun earlier. I don't think its believable but its probably more believable than Stansfield.
And not much difference in the prices quoted; £40m Balogan plays £35m Stansfield! Which would you take?

Lisa Stanfield would be better , Wilson just signed for Leeds

He also said we are on the way with strengthening the squad. Or are you just picking the negative part?

I was responding to someone who stated he said again that the current squad will have their chance

Where was it said he said about strengthening in that person's comment?

I would imagine he would strengthen, its actual insanity to not. Starting Kitching and Dasilva in the premier league for example is mental

No way we are starting Kitching and Dasilva in the prem as first choice.

Maybe they will start first game of the season while new blood get bedded in but hopefully will be phased out.

Being league champions I would have liked to have seen some of our players be sought after by Championship teams but so far not seen one linked.

Allen has left so that don’t count

Who could you see us likely selling and attracting interest?

If he isn’t prepared to front the cash needed to keep us in the prem then he should look for outside investment or to pass us on to someone that will. Having the majority of the team stay the same will relegate us by January

well if we took Doug at his word and those that had played the most minutes and got us promoted are given a chance, then I guess we’re looking at people like

wolfie
brau
rapha
bidders
loan return of esse and mini
kai Andrews
poss markelo

i think some of the younger ones with potential may get loans, and I think we’ll see one of our strikers leaving. I imagine that would give us room for several new signings and keep the core of our championship winning team. there may also be queries over Lati and Eccles in the Prem, but I would like to see Eccles be given a chance.

So in summary I can see it would be possible to give a large part of our squad the opportunity as Doug has said AND have room to strengthen considerably. But whether we do that is anyone’s guess.

My point more is… which players of ours would clubs in the championship want to buy a stick bids in for realistically.

So far none of our players have been courted openly in the press by other clubs which being a title winning club you’d hope to see

Hes saying it one to many times for me now. If he seriously thinks how we are currently can stay up he must be on smack
2+2=7

Our current players that are still with us at the start of the season will deserve their shot at the Prem. Every one of them deserve it. This doesn't mean there won't be significant investments made.

We won't be signing a new 1st team. Most probably won't even be signing 11 new players, so our present players will be playing for us from the start.

We will be selling some of our present players under contract. The message is there that we won't be selling cheaply to make room for new signings. We have players that the better Championship clubs would love to sign. Every penny coming in will mean more funds for Lampard to bring players in. If significant investment wasn't going to be made Lampard would have been looking to move away by now.

There will be a fair bit of interest for our players, but it isn't the King way to announce anything. He drives a hard deal so not expecting much to happen yet. Look at how much and how late the sale of Sheaf was.

We balanced the books for last season. We're not a Hull City that needs to sell before the end of the month. I've said, with several others, that I don't expect much to happen until next month. All I got back was the transfer window opened before then.

Even Onyeka hasn't been confirmed yet and we know we're signing him. Deals will be currently being negotiated and will start happening in another week or so when the new financial year starts. This is for both buying and selling.

I hope King hasn’t forgotten that we failed to beat Ipswich and Hull last season with this squad. If we have any chance of survival, then we need to be picking up points from them this season.

We also failed to beat Southampton, who finished bottom of the PL the season before.

So, put bluntly, we struggled against the two teams who finished (a distant) 19th and 20th in the PL - with squads that had subsequently lost key players.

I really hope Doug is bluffing, and we are actively negotiating deals for players that can strengthen our core and give us a chance of competing against our key rivals alone.

We played both games against Ipswich when our squad was at its weakest. Hull parked the bus which is always difficult. Ask Spain and England.

Southampton? We had a great end to the season, only losing to Southampton who then got caught cheating.

Is King supposed to say our present players are not good enough, especially when most will be squad members and playing? Look at last season. We were only supposed to have a good 1st 11 and most of the rest were not good enough. But not a single player let us down.

Who says he isn’t prepared to pay for players.
It’s the end of June in a World Cup summer ffs.
Lets wait a bit longer before deciding we are doomed….

King himself keeps saying, that he won't be splashing the cash, and the players that managed to win promotion will be given every chance, obviously it could be a bluff, but if you take what he says as gospel, then you can see why some are concerned

He also said we are well on the way with strengthening the team. Depends which side of negative you want to be really doesn't it?

Our transfer business under King has been very good. The 'experts' on here would have sold Gyokeres and Hamer for much less as they both were in the last year of their contracts. We built a squad most thought was a waste of money. Best of all now some people seem to think he should be saying our present players are not good enough even though we will be keeping over half of them.

If King was saying we're going to spend a lot of money the asking prices would go up. Just like last season I'm at ease with the situation. We have given new contracts to the players we want to keep. Simms has 1 year left so doesn't seem to be a part of the plans considering he only has 1 year left. I can see someone like Wolves or West Ham selling players to reduce their wage bill and bringing in proven Championship players like Simms. Maybe even a player plus cash swap.

As I said earlier the new financial year starts in less than a week. That's when I expect things to start happening.
