I would say there is more of a future IF we are getting all of the income from it from football and non football things compared to the deal at the Ricoh as it was.

It really depends on what size it actually is (where did 12k come from) and how easily it can be upgraded?

It came from SISU, they said they want to model their (fictional) new stadium on Rotherham's, which holds 12,000 and took four years to build. The fact is they have not moved on and never will do until they have wrung dry ever legal process to distress and under-value ACL. You seem to be very picky about which facts you listen to at the moment - maybe it is just optimism?!

CCC Boundary - https://www.google.com/fusiontables....5269991859131538&z=11&t=1&l=col2&y=5&tmplt=3

Dunno how to overlay the two.

Interesting, do you know the new HS2 interchange is close to the edge of that radius. Just another mile & they can join in the feeding frenzy by moving to Chelmsley Wood & becoming Birmingham's 3rd team.. just a thought.. not saying it will happen, but I can believe SISU would do it if they thought it benefited them.

The question was asked by a few people last night as to whether building a new gorund in Coventry was possible - and that if the economic impact was right and the project was valid that CCC would find it hard to reject.

Tim seemed pretty convinced that they would never get permission. You have to say that it would seem totally illogical to allow a 2nd stadium to be built inside the council boundaries. Even if the project stood up economically, the council can put so many blockages in the way that it would just be unviable.

I think - my opinion - the reality is its either the Ricoh or outside the boundaries. If you look at the 2 maps i uploaded there are brownfield sites not far out of the boundary. My worry is how far 8 miles actually is! -

Not far from Solihull to the West
Practically in Nuneaton to the North
Practically in Leamington to the South
Practically in Rugby to the East

Could you accept us playing in Rugby or Leamington?

Yes, eventually ........ £20M gets you started at 12,000 based on TF reference to Rotherham as an example.
I guess expansion will pit you unto the 18,000 although Rotherham is quote 20,000.
I suppose if you settle for 20,000 then 18,000 is not far off.

We will be established at L1 level with the dizzy heights of the Championship as a goal.

With 1,600 paying customers, i think ACL called their bluff. Do you think they are holding all the aces?

It kind of annoys me that some people on here think those on the SCG are so naive.

I have only ever reported what was said in the meeting and left you all to discuss it and form opinions. I have an opinion which is probably the same as most that a stadium won't be built and that the only real solution is to be back at the Ricoh.

That said everyone thought they were bluffing with Northampton so I'm careful not to underestimate.

I don't think we are used as pawns - we should be there to talk about things we can actually influence but at the moment we can't possibly talk about anything other than the mess we find ourselves in.

People do challenge and question in the meetings and I think Steve does himself a disservice as he is excellent at pushing Tim Fisher on difficult topics.

At the moment, the SCG are one of the only lines of communication into the club from the fans and we only have a limited amount of time at meetings. We'll ask questions and can only report what were told.

Apologies if I'm coming across as one of those people, but I'm sure you can understand how frustrating it is to be a "normal" fan who doesn't get invited to these things then sees the same PR line peddled (through no fault of your own) and really important questions not get answered. As Steve says, Fisher can be a slippery fish to pin down, but personally I'm interested in the particular brand of slipperiness as much as any answer.

You will not get a 18,000 seater stadium for £20m unless you rip off the construction company.

I just quoted it above, but everyone chooses to ignore it because it doesn't suit a particular agenda!

Really, the masses have decided 12,000, so 12,000 it will be.

Given they've offered a big enough stick to beat them with (8 miles is a long way) why on earth bother making up fabrications that they said 12,000 when they said it would be modelled on Rotherham's (i.e. the modular expandable construction) with a starting capacity of 18,000?

TF said "like Rotherham" and yesterday said it will cost £20M
Rotherham is a 12,000 seater that cost £20M (Familiar?)
TF said it will be expanded as necessary.
Rotherhams can be expand in steps to 16,000 then 20,000.

You make an educated guess !!

Fisher said 18,000 was enough attendance, I presume that means when fully extended as I'm pretty sure a lower figure initial was mentioned at the July forums.

No it doesn't. 18,000... Then if things go well over time, it grows.

He even said elsewhere (in one of the tediously repetitive radio interviews) that he had no idea where 12,000 came from, 18,000 was the start figure.

It shouldn't be rumours though should it, it's Plan A. None of the 'rumours' that they have so far put out there regarding the new stadium have come anywhere near being factual. It's all false - we have bought a new site, we are close to buying 4 sites, we have a preferred site, we are buying a site in 8 weeks. We do not posture or filibuster. Blah blah blah. Sorry I'm sick to the back teeth of their rubbish. Just because they moved the club to Northampton and we didn't think they would am I supposed to listen to at least 3 years of crap?

I honestly missed it, when was that from? This meeting? I need to go to bed...

So (knowing nothing about stadium costing) wouldn't that mean it'd cost more than Rotherham's or does a 50% capacity increase not increase costs by the same proportion?

Then £20M will not be enough. Where did Sisu say 18,000 was a start and not a finish?
I don't really know, i'm just going on Rotherham's stadium which is what TF quotes as a shining example.

It does not add up.

Modular expansion costs more than building a ground with the final capacity

That was some time ago. Last nights information was £20M and £5M for land.

Obviously things are worse than planned. NOPM?

SISU : Announce a 12,000 stadium and I'm gone.

Well you sixfields lot can follow timmy and co to his tiny ground but there will be a lot who won't.

A 12k stadium is a disgrace. It just shows the plans they've got for the club. Decades in league 1 beckons.

Some fans get what they deserve though.

I doubt it would be league 1, I think a downward spiral would coincide with a dramatic fall in attendance figures from
the dizzy heights of circa 1,500 to below 1,000.

They are talking of a £20m spend on the ground and for that you will get a 10,000 seater. When city hauled them selves out of the lower leagues highfield road held up to 50,000.They took 13,000 to peterborough that is why with big support they could finance the climb up the league. With a 12,000 seater they will not be able to finance anything.

Especially with the ground being only a third full at best.

Not sure I can be bothered to read all the way through the thread to work out why you guys are arguing about the capacity of the supposed new-build ground, but both figures have been floating around in the media..

In June, Mr Fisher is quoted in the Independent as saying: "The model is Rotherham's New York Stadium, it's a great stadium. It's modular so it grows as the club grows. Attendance? Around 18,000, and I will argue that 18,000 is enough. Then if things go well over time, it grows."
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...n-groundshare-deal-with-coventry-8705173.html

In October, an article by Les Reid stated: "Sisu’s boss Joy Seppala – in an exclusive Telegraph interview – insisted the club was “not for sale” and Sisu is looking for a return on funders’ investment by adding value to the business. It will come, she claims, from either acquiring the council-owned Ricoh freehold and surrounding development land to support club revenues; or from building a new stadium (potentially £25m, initially 12,000-capacity) with surrounding commercial land outside the Coventry border within five years."
