If its a Championship club i think we're as good of a shout as many, but it won't be us, it'll be some club i absolutely despise no doubt.

Dunno why anyones even bothered about owning the stadium.

Another summer with zero gigs in the stadium bowl, and some nondescript conferences in the exhibition hall

Outside of the football club, the place never has, and never will make money

It’s sentimental and that’s it. Across Europe only something like 20% of clubs owns their stadium.

Not overly concerned about owning it

Hugely concerned over:

Does Mike Ashley want to own the club and if so what is he willing to do to leverage this?

Does the club have enough leverage in the fact of what you are saying to ensure a long term licence at a rate that enables us to compete at the highest possible level?

True but we seem to be ploughing millions on Floodlights , turnstiles and the pitch. Striking a deal for the stadium and all that goes with match day revenue would be ideal but I dream on !

Don’t wanna have to watch my club play out of Coventry again. I know it’s silly but by owing it we can at least control our own destiny (or at the very least get a long long lease).

V true... I'm just happy as we are until the end of this 5yr plan, which is coming up rapidly tbf!
Absolutely the same but having experienced cobblers and Birmingham I refuse to wait to express my concerns and demand answers until it’s too late as a fan base and as an individual who by luck has the opportunity to be quite demanding of an answer at supporters forums

Really fair point! I'm far too naive but I do trust King... Hadn't really considered that he may not do whats best for the club at the end of the 5yrs so definitely should be pushed for answers as time progresses

It’s not solely about trusting King, it’s as much trusting the landlord. They haven’t done anything ‘off’ so far in our dealing with them, but there’s a clear track record of their history in business.

No you’re not even if that’s such a thing

We’re supporters what can we do to change anything but support with time and money??

I agree with you that I trust Doug with what he’s doing but it’s unsustainable and we really do need more certainty given the past 15 years

Where has the Saudi rumour come from?
Championship clubs and at least one team in the Premier League are trying to lure Saudi Arabian billionaire Turki Alalshikh into investment, according to a report.

Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol says clubs are turning to Saudi in a bid to strike it rich and help them win promotion to the Premier League. Alalshikh, with an estimated wealth of $2.8 billion, has a number of business interests and has transformed the sport of boxing by putting on a host of incredible shows in the Middle East.

Sounds silly but I’d imagine a Saudi takeover wouldn’t worry too much about the stadium. They'd have the funds to buy it or build a brand new one if they wanted to
Opening up an old chestnut here, I was certain that when built it was stated that the stadium had been designed to accommodate additional building to increase the capacity, just curious if anybody can confirm or deny this ? I do appreciate we ain’t anywhere near needing it quite yet I must add

Sounds like he’d be an absolute nightmare TBH. The sort to make an “incredible show” out of the club isn’t what I’d want. But I guess that’s the game these days if you want long term PL football.

It's incredible that this has turned into the retained list not being released due to "the takeover".

I thought it was the opposite? That it wasn't built with a quick fix expansion built in. Should be fairly quick and easy to rip the roof off and build another stand on top of what's already there.

Well one of us is right hahaha 😝 I was convinced that the stand where the fan zone and railway is had been designed so as an upper layer could be fitted but then again I struggle to remember yesterday sometimes so why I expect to recall something from 20 years ago I don’t know !

Tbh its a weird direction for the thread and its obviously not going be us, but its probably the kind of owner you need these days to really push on... but i like King anyway, i just know eventually we'll probably need someone with more money, even if he sticks around as a part owner.

Seems like the question has been answered, but strangely it won't allow me to link to the page directly.

Many owners own the stadium through another company for obvious reasons.

It’s very rare entities with zero connection own a stadium unless it’s got a long lease on it
