i think pens where the attacker is looking to make contact need to be outlawed

it's a pen but i fucking hate them

This

I spent yesterday watching the Championship scores coming in. Only Hull and Ipswich games that I took real notice of. The weird thing is, I've got to get used to wanting the 'big teams' to beat our potential rivals. Very odd and will take some getting used to.

Yeah, I've watched Match of the Day today and kept taking me a moment to realise these are all rivals now. And then we were on last

It was a nice pen by the Hungarian Ward-Prowse

You would have thought after Kevin Keegans death they might have mentioned it.

Us being in the league has completely ruined watching the other Prem games for me. Watching all of them through the lens of ‘what does this do for us’ now.
Agree - also how would we stand against this team as well - quite nervous from what i have seen

Seriously? A mountain to climb after 2 games? Honestly I hope to god the players and manager have more bottle than most of the posters on here

You do know how hard to recover 6 points are in the PL? Lose to Hull, then Man City away, that could be 9... going into Brighton who just fucked Villa, then Forest away... are you thick?

Well no because how do you know what points we will or wont get. You are just assuming negatrively we wont get any.

Not at all, thing we beat Hull and get something at Man City.

However, it doesn't take much to be in the 💩

You don't look at teams on 3 or 6 points. You look at the other clubs near the bottom. There's several sides that could be in for a hard season.

Villa are bottom. They have Arsenal next and then away to Hull.

Nah, you look at yourself. Start off losing your first 3 games and you're in for a struggle.

Can’t believe some of the negativity after one game! Seems to be some dubious math too whereby all the other teams can somehow get 3 points from every game, nobody else loses!

We knew it would be a tough start. Hopefully we beat Hull and have at least 3 points after 3 but even if we don’t, it’s early days and lots of time to improve.

So if we do actually lose to Hull you'll be looking at the teams well above us and not the clubs near the bottom of the table?

We have officially got the hardest start this season in the Prem. Although it might happen I'm not going to treat it as though we will lose to Hull. Then our 3rd game could easily end up being our 2nd hardest game of the season.

Just the same as if we beat Hull. That doesn't mean we will stay up.

The same can be said for several other teams. Villa next platy Arsenal at home for example. You seem to be suggesting we will be the only team who might struggle
Our away schedule is tough but that’s balanced out by having a decent home schedule:
Hull
BHA
Newcastle
Fulham
Sunderland
Palace
Ipswich
Villa

That’s all the home games this side of Christmas and it’s probably fair to say that we need to pick up 14+ points from this run. There aren’t as many home games that look winnable after Christmas.

I'm just saying, three loses will give a big hill to climb over the course of a season.

I'm just looking at if we lose to Hull, you'd assume we'd lose to Citeh and we are potentially in a position that we are adrift.

I personally think we beat Hull and get something at Citeh, but three straight losses could mean disaster for our season.

Teams are never adrift after 3 games. Would be very rare for the team in 17th to even have 5 points after 3 games, only 8 teams currently have more than 1 point and the odds of at least 9 of the others picking up at least 4 points in their next 2 is huge. More likely that 17th spot will have around 3 points

Hulls style of play is perfectly suited to picking up points when they shouldn't
They are incredibly awkward, tho based on their highlights on MoTD they looked good value for their win tho Man United seemed to have reverted to type...

Villa looked absolutely rotten, there have been some very shoddy performances opening game.

Man City also very lucky IMO, they were basic as fuck, no idea why Guehi was playing CM either.

Oof! Didn’t realise that. Need at least 21 points by Xmas including away games I reckon.

We always seemed to be on last when we were in the Prem before, regardless of how well we were doing 🤷‍♂️.

Once we're up to speed, bedded everyone in and gotten used to the pace of the league we'll be grand. Think we'll be a banana skin for a lot of teams at the CBS.

More a case of united have big issues playing against teams with wingbacks as they leave the wingback wide open and a quick switch lets the opposition team in.

It genuinely wouldn’t surprise me to see get to the FA Cup 3rd round without a win away from home. It’s pretty brutal on the road.

Nottingham Forest, Everton and Leeds look the most likely candidates for picking up a result before Ipswich on Jan 8th.

Home form is everything in this league and we’ve got a good shout of getting a few wins against teams likely to be down there. Blue Sky thinking: hopefully we build momentum into the tougher games.

Yeah, all true. I hadn’t considered the our easier home games all come this side of Xmas. I fear if we’re not beyond 15 by Xmas we may well be down.
