Hi Chaps, Interesting game today. I thought Coventry looked a really good side and I thought they done a really good job on Pompey, especially in the first half. Going a goal up in their very first attack meant Coventry were able to play the game which suited them, which was counter attacking with real menace. Great passing and movement off the ball with a great fighting spirit. All in all a very good performance by your team and I am sure with a couple of additions in the summer you will have a good team able to mount a promotion push. Pompey have not been in the top 4 all season just because they have been 'lucky' but because at this stage of the season most clubs are where they deserve to be, at the bottom because they are poor or at the top because they are good. I must confess I was not overly confident Pompey would get anything out of the game the way it went in the fist half but I also thought we would not be as bad in the second half and that at some stage we would get on top. I think that is the way it turned out because Coventry could not keep that effort up the whole game in that heat and we gradually wore your team down and ran out winners. If I am honest I do think that overall a draw might well have been a fair result.

As it says "outplayed us at times" You looked an OK side. We deserved to win tho..Thanks for beating Sunerland

Draw would have been fair

I wouldn’t say we played you off the park but we played the better and more entertaining football without much question

You had a lot of ball without creating many opportunities, Portsmouth then capitalised on two pieces of poor defending from us with some good finishes. The fact you took your chances when we gave them to you and we missed our chances was the difference today and probably why you are top 4.

Have them take him off our hands for free as compensation / out of court settlement? :emoji_laughing:

He does love to kick it out of play and that’s a good thing in Rugby, apparently?
Better still, get someone to kick him into touch.....

I thought the team put in a great performance and deserved something from this game.

Burge - sorry but we need a better option next season

What cost us was our problem all season ...... a failure to convert our chances.......... (with assistance from our keeper)

Oggy can’t produce miracles , clearly been dealt a shit hand over the last few seasons with keepers who would never really improve

just seen Oggy up the tip, not sure what he was throwing out but I kept trying to have a look, thought it might have been Burges training kit.

Really enjoyed the way we approached the game (shortcomings aside) but the thing that ticked me off is having to sit in seat 1, pitch level in the wheelchair bays with the Fratton End faithful. There's no wheelchair bays for away fans and the wife wanted to go so we were stuck with the situation.
Unfortunately we had players constantly warming up and stretching in front of us, wheelchair users needing the toilets, photographers, stewards and anybody else who fancied blocking our view!

When we scored after a great move I had to limit myself to a restrained fist pump but still managed to get caught by an eagle eyed steward who came over to remind me where I was!! Have to say I was impressed with the throwback stadium and the vocal support but that Mr Pompey and his bell..... blood hell, that was annoying!! Anyway with City 1:0 up at half time and given complimentary drinks it was bearable.
Second half was a different matter as Vaughan coming on seemed to change things along with Kelly getting clattered. Then as City sat back more and more you could sense the equaliser coming and when it did the noise levels were ridiculous. Blue shirts jumping up and down with glee making a racket while the wife and I just sat there looking hacked off and mardy while that steward looked and grinned at us! When the winner went in we just had to cope with the ecstasy going on around us. Gutted at the result but not the performance and were unlucky not to get something out of the game. Hats off to Pompey hospitality team they were excellent and made the Fratton Park experience a good one despite us being away fans. However, should we play Pompey again next season the wife stays at home!

Ha ha! My missus calls me Victor. I really don't know why!
Your lucky she only calls you Victor. The wife reckons she would have a much easier time if she was married to him instead. To which I replied "I don't believe it!!". One of us laughed at that one! :emoji_sunglasses:
