Match Thread Manchester City vs Coventry City (A) - Match Thread - Sat 5th September (3pm KO) (4 Viewers)

Back 5, 4 across the midfield. 5-0 loss.

--------------------------Rushworth
MVE--Thomas - Pinnock - Amenda - Dasilva
Sakamoto - Onyeka - Yirenkyi - EMC
--------------------------Awoniya

Pinnock in the middle like Fadz for leadership and his lack of pace.

Sakamoto ahead of Tchaouna just because of his work rate and to help Milan out defensively.

Weird really considering Tchaouna was much better defensively and bailed Milan out a few times but Sakamoto was weak and cost us the goal....

I might use my Fantasy Football Triple Captain token on Haaland this weekend

I fear a hiding here more than I did at The Emirates weirdly enough

Arsenal are the better side but I think Man City are more ruthless in games like this, they have a tendency to lay down a marker early on in the season and give someone a real battering - certainly in the Pep years anyway

I too fear a battering here but it would just be typical CCFC to go and pinch a lucky point after being under the cosh for the full 90mins

I think I expect to lose anyway but I just want to see things changed up a little bit.

We can't keep putting floaty crosses into the box with 1 striker and 2 or 3 defenders and expecting things to happen.

Go to 3 at the back.

Realism is one thing.
But what an opportunity to turn our season around. Got to have a plan , fight like dogs & then get lucky. Teams get results at Man City.

Watching the weekends games most teams attacked using a variety of methods.

We definitely need to mix it up a bit

Think Frank will approach this one differently and play a back 3. Bournemouth took the game to them and Palace were very poor. Don't think it'll be the bloodbath people are expecting.

Hopefully the players will have worked on their confidence issues and be well up for it.

They have Europe in the week after tbf. Might go easy on us 2nd half when they’re a few goals up.

Their bench and general strength in depth isn’t what it used to be. Don’t think will affect result much but they’d be bringing on mostly kids second half.

---------------Rushworth
MVE Amenda Thomas Pinnock JDS

Personally think if eccles is still with us he's on the bench for the legs, I love Grimes but jesus it was painful watching him try to chase Millar down. Really got to find a way of limiting chances for the elite opposition, and a formation to revert to if we (ever) score first.

Obviously we're playing one of the best teams in the league with probably the best striker, I'm expecting us to get beaten quite convincingly, but given all that I just want to see us finding a way we can play and get results going forward.

Hang on. He was chasing him down because he was the only one with half a brain who could see what was going on.

I think he will go 5 at the back. A plucky 2-0 defeat.

Not really, Sakamoto was weak and cost us a goal in an area of the pitch he doesn't usually be. We got exposed a lot down Milans side because Tchaouna wasn't particularly tracking back. Same against Arsenal.

Yes Sakamoto was weak as piss for the goal.

Interesting how people see different things. I saw Milan going awol. I would go as far to say in these very early days, of the players I thought might be able to step up, he's perhaps been the biggest disappointment of the lot.
On Sakamoto, I don't think he's strong enough or fast enough for this division. He's a sub because we need him and he's less tragic than BTA on the other side but I can't imagine he'll have much impact.

A one goal loss and I will be ecstatic 😁👍👍
