Weird one.... In the past 2 days, whilst with my wife, walking the dog, we have come across a lad riding an e scooter, but wearing socks and with no shoes. I'd quickly forgotten about this, when we came across a lad and his girlfriend crossing the road. He was dressed normally, but wearing white socks, yet no shoes. Is this a new thing, or just random occurrences? My wife asked me, and I hadn't got a scooby!

😂😂😂😂 not that I’m down with the kids… but I’ve not seen anything like that in sunny north Leics … and you see some odd things around here.

Least they weren't wearing Crocs and ankle high socks.

I left school in 2009 and the only people who wore Crocs were young kids or called Pedos.

Why they've become a craze is beyond me. The only exception is van Ewijk.

When I was growing up, wearing black socks with shorts and trainers was a no no. Was it the same for anybody else?

See loads of people doing it now.

Yeah black socks only with trackies etc. Black socks and shorts never.

It was white socks when I was young. Taboo because lads wearing white socks were Cissies. I see white socks nowadays and my school prejudices return. So maybe they just don’t understand the stigma attached to it?

It was bright red or blue with a pair of royals and Stay pressed and a Harrington or crombie fake.🫣

I'm sure we called white socks 'virgin socks' at school :ROFLMAO: Of course the vast majority were in fact virgins anyway at that point so white socks would have accurately identified us.

Anyway, i wear ankle socks with shorts even now, anything else looks wrong.

Socks with shorts is ALWAYS a no no. But when I wear socks, theyre always black. White socks are for 2 kinds of people.... Michael Jackson impersonators, and folk from Nuneaton.

Men should always wear black trainers as well, men wearing white trainers look like they're taking a couple of jack russels for a walk.

I seem to have opened a can of worms starting this thread. For me, I can't be doing with the socks/sandals thing (very rarely worn sandals anyway). I do wear white 'trainer' (short ankle) socks with trainers, but that's about it with self imposed 'rules'. Decades ago, white socks became a thing at school in the 70s for lads, but quickly died out, before I was amazed that they made a comeback a few years (maybe longer) ago. I say amazed, but after the mullet re-emerged, nothing surprises me!

White socks with jeans was dodgy when I was a school but seemed to become popular around 10-15 years ago.

Any shoes with shorts need those invisible socks though.
