JDS to Coventry fans

Vivash always claimed that JDS was possibly the best player at the club, and that we had never quite seen the best of him.
Perhaps there is still more to come?

I said in a previous thread, when most were saying he'd be horrific in the Prem, that if we'd seen the stats above and he wasn't our player, but were signing him for £10m, everyone would be creaming themselves over the YT reel. I also said I expected him to be our starting LB after the window and it was pointed out that if he was, then something had badly gone wrong with our recruitment. Happy to trust Lampard's judgement over the SBT mouth breathers.

I usually hate the 'I told you so' type posts because we all have shit opinions from time to time and get it wrong, but the level of criticism before he'd kicked a ball was pretty unreasonable.

Equally happy to say I got it wrong so far about MVE, because I always thought his pace was a huge asset and I was even more sure he'd be fine. So far his levels haven't been up to it, but hopefully adjusting and will also step up when he's back, although I liked the Mfuni / Yirenki combination out there Saturday which was even better when we were on the front foot and stepped into midfield.

Not one single poster on here wanted him as first choice left back.

Yet he has been our most consistent performer this season. He hasn’t looked out of place in this league and has played extremely well.

Just about everyone was saying we needed another LB, but not everyone was saying we needed another LB because JDS isn't good enough. For starters we didn't have good enough cover for him.

There were question marks about nearly every player as they didn't have Prem experience. It's still too early to say about those not good enough but nearly every player is looking at least capable.

I'll just wait for the next JDS mistake and the following outcry.

Sick of trying to defend him on here.
Been the most consistent player since lampard arrived.
Has a great way of tackling in the modern game, and his ability on the ball is only matched by Rudoni.
Trouble is he will never be 7ft 6in. to please some people.

Hand on heart, I didn't think he would be good enough for the Premier. Really felt he would get roasted regularly.

Looked a bit of a liability under Robins and like many others I said play Bidwell.

We're more reactive. Football is an emotional sport, its literally always been that way, the only difference is you just used to say it to your mate or your old man (whoever you went to the footy with) and it was gone. These days you type it out on somewhere like here and it sits and often looks worse over time. One thing I don't understand really now is how personally people take differences of opinion on blokes kicking a ball about.

I enjoy being right about things sometimes as we're all jousting on this forum, it should be fun though, its not that deep. I especially agree about match threads, people release steam in way more mental ways at the ground or watching on TV or whatever, its just not written down to be picked up on later. I've got a Cov group chat with my mates who support us, most of them have terrible opinions but it doesn't make me angry

Spot on. I give opinions all the time. Love it when I’m right, hold my hands up when I’m wrong. The beauty of this game is how it surprises you. When you’re right you feel like prime pep either way it shouldn’t ever be as serious as people take it. Only point that was ever justified is when the club nearly stopped existing.

Never been one to have a go at JDS and always thought he was good enough. His performances last season and so far this season have reinforced that view.

There have been a few who amazingly wanted to start Bidwell instead.

Pleased he's getting his moment in the sun and some are having to (reluctantly) accept that he's a very good player, who is a deserved starter in the PL.

Let's be honest he was shocking before Lampard came in. He was rightly miles behind Bidwell.

I don't think many would have expected him to step up to this level and most would have been happy for him to have been replaces last season.

His improvement has been spectacular. Hats off to Dasilva for putting the effort in and to Lampard and Edwards for working with him.

If he can continue with goals and add assists he'll be some player.
