Think it has to be remembered he won't have done a full session with the team yet. As he only joined up on Friday, he would have only done two tactical sessions on the days before matches most likely.

As soon as he understands the systems and players better, I'm confident he will be a strong addition to that defensive line. A good start when taking that in to account.

Was a bit ropey defensively, all of the back 3 were at times, but totally agree that will improve with time. It is already clear to see that having a genuine left footer who is comfortable on the ball though helps our attacking play immeasurably.

It was a strange game when you look back. Both teams had more chances than you’d get normally in 3 games

it’s his first game and the wing backs play so high up the pitch it takes time to adjust.

So one thing I hadn't considered was how being left footed would impact passing along the back line. I think because I have been so used to seeing a right footed LCB that I thought that some of his passes to McFadzean were a little below par. He is likely to be more reliant on passing back to him for the long ball outlet when he doesn't have the option down the line. Not a criticism really, and I am sure this will improve, but I guess I was focusing on that area, so just an observation. I do think ultimately it is going to give much more balance to the side.

The ball needs to be quicker and the option will be there

He played a couple for beauties down the line for Maatsen. Perhaps McFadzean/ Moore were being aware that he hadn't had a lot of time with the team yet, so didn't want to put him under pressure by fizzing the ball to him just yet. Hopefully we'll see more of that in time

It's all well and good being left footed but his primary task is defending and he didn't do that very well tonight. Got done two or three times and Moore saved his blushes in the first half with a good save.

Just to be clear, I am NOT writing him off. I'm sure he's a good player and that he was just finding his feet tonight.

Just looked a bit like somebody who hadn't played for a while and was playing with new team mates. Was better second half.

Did he? Must admit I can't remember Ostigard's debut too much but I thought he did well?

No, he went walkabout for Bristol's first goal after less than a minute remember? Osti was all over the place in his early games

Then kicked off after he didn't come straight back in after the international break.

He developed into a great player by the end of the season but if JCS develops at the same rate Osti did then we will have one hell of a player.

JCS had a steady debut and certain he will settle and become better will breathe a little extra life into McFadz who has been magnificent so far which buys MR time to find his replacement.

He was poor last night, positionally and in the tackle (which is strange after a few great ones previously).

Absolutely not writing him off, I’m confident he will come good. It’s his first competitive start for a while and the positional issue could be attributed to getting used to a new system/players etc.

Offensively the benefit was there to see, his ability to play the ball forward quickly from the left was a big plus last night.

Poor game last night, but he’ll come good.

Was he actually poor though? I'm not sure he was.

I think so - got skinned a few times and was also noticeably caught out of position too.

Rustiness/new team etc etc. Sure he’ll be fine.

He basically said, that's the cobwebs cleared, so let's see how he does once he's got up to speed. He got beat easily a few times and he let a man run off him so easily in the first half from their goal kick but we didnt conceed, we owe alot to Moore for that and he'll be better as we go on.

jake Clark salter = 9/10 confidence,8/10 heading, 8/10 distribution, 7/10 tackling, 7/10 pace, 6/10 fitness. Needs a few more games to get fit and sharp.Looks good for attacking headers at corners. See jake getting a few goals from set-pieces

Don't tell me he's injured it already?! I missed the build up to the game yesterday, I assume he and Rose were both out for that reason? Any details?

Robins said he was left out as a precaution but neither him nor Rose had serious injuries.
