That’s why I’m asking. I can see the argument that by doing it they’ve (arguably unintentionally) harmed the image of the police. Not sure what the actual law is though, I mean they don’t start locking up stripper-grams.

If in a country where over 3 quarters of the population are white and we are deemed to have the privelage, then how come there are many people of colour who have a better education than me, earn more money than me and send their kids to better schools than me...

Why are white people the only people on earth that are made out to have "privelage" when it's the world's smallest demographic?

I was going to mention this earlier but use Japan as an example. And the answers? The opposite of what I assume you were hoping to make your point. Of course it’s not just white people who have privilege. In the western world you do though. But I guess that’s not what you were going for as you don’t believe it exists anyway.

There are literally jobs you wouldn’t be able to do in Japan.

Yeah I’m mixed race. I can’t speak for your opportunities in life but I’d guess we’ve had the same go at it. As I basically look white until I tell people otherwise. I’ve seen family members who haven’t been afforded the same opportunities as me. That’s why it baffles me when people say white privilege doesn’t exist. I’m a literal proof that it does. All in my opinion of course.

Life has been pretty good other than being party to racist chat by white people a hell of a lot as they think I’m part of it.
I agree that class plays a massive part as well though, coming from a single parent council estate in Hillfields myself.

Arent you confusing white privilege and white guilt? All that’s really being asked is you recognise others may have a different experience to you. And saying that on average the white experience is easier than the minority one doesn’t mean every white guy has had it easy.

I completely agree that this probably isn’t a useful way of talking about it and that class in this country is probably more important than race in many contexts, and certainly more so than the States where a lot of this stuff comes from. But no need to throw the baby out with the bath water and deny Hill and others their own experiences.

Considering brits are happy to get involved with politics of another country, then we should also be OK with calling out Asian privelage and black privelage alike in majority countries they live in....
