If ever you wanted to get Joy back to court that would.

Tournament is fine as long as we keep our lead and game in hand and results of games we’ve already played against the top 8. Otherwise it’s total bullshit.

Should only be top 6 let the top two be in the semi final and the other 4 play off to reach the semi finals

Although I hope it doesn't happen you can see the thinking behind this from Sky's viewpoint
They would have decent content to screen where all the games had something riding on them

Darragh MacAnthony has tweeted that he's surprised by this top 8 bollocks. Spoke to the main guy at the efl and it was never mentioned

If the top 8 can play each other you might aswell play out the season.
What about relegation what about Boltons punishment does that just get written off?

Every other option I’ve heard, bar ‘null and void’ is better than this.

Why top eight ? Doncaster for example who are ninth have two games in hand on Sunderland for example win them and they go above as they would on ppg. This sounds to me of a desperate Sunderland influenced proposal, the only way to give them a chance of promotion.

This is up there with the most ridiculous ideas I've heard for settling the season, completely devaluing the 34 games played already.

If Wycombe beat us they’d move from 8th to 3rd. PPG would be better than this proposal but you can see why it’d get suggested rather than it being based upon current positions.

Sky will promote this idea. If it is accepted then it is further proof that TV run the game not the FA or EFL.

Ridiculous idea, just finish the remaining games or make them all 0-0

Magwitch told you yesterday it's a minefield and suggestions are getting dafter as days go by.This 1 means we would be playing a team 8 points behind us and they have played 2 home games more crazy.

I’d be happy a mini tournament between top 8 to see who goes up but would need start it with points advantage equal to our points lead and game in hand

Explain how you could possible do that please?

It's a ridiculous idea. But if for some unfathomable reason they chose it it'd have to be done like the NFL play-offs in my opinion

Wild card weekend for those in play-offs , they then play the top two and the winners of those get promoted. The losers then play each other as the 'play-off final' for the last spot. Higher team gets home 'advantage'

Could do something similar for relegation if you wanted I guess.

And I know L2 has four available, so maybe top four get a bye, next four play each other in 1st round. Winner of second round promoted.

There is another alternative being promoted for Div 2 of top 3 on ppg and playoffs for the last promotion place on a single game basis between places 4-7 .
If that was adopted in Div 1 with top 2 on ppg and 3-6 playing off. I’d be happy

Us not going up would be awful - players, manager being sought after by all and sundry, whereas more chance of retaining a decent core if we went up. That would add insult to injury. For once I would support Joy involving lawyers.

Will keep saying it, play behind closed doors and offer the TV companies a slice if they’re insistent on it with a pay per view to watch or stream except for ST holders. Get it done in a month and avoid any legals or complaints while cheering up a fair chunk of the population

If its the top 8 couldn't you just start with the games that have already been played. So we'd only play the outstanding games against the top 8 and remove all other games from the table.

In that scenario, we wouldn't play e.g. Sunderland or Portsmouth - but if you did it like that, might one club have e.g. only 1 game left to play, and another 4? If so, you may have a team that couldn't catch up the others or get promoted? Or am I (probably!) misunderstanding your idea!?

It’s a ridiculous idea, and even with an objective hat on does not seem the fair or right thing to do. Especially for a team who have lost three games all season and are ahead with a game on hand.

The EFL have always been weak and incompetent, if this comes to fruition it’s another example of that.

That being said, I’m hoping it’s just Sky pushing an agenda as opposed to a proposal being seriously considered by the EFL.

Would guess it would work out that most teams had 3 or 4 games but I'm not going to work them all out!

So it would be a tournament of 14 games per club but we'd start having played 10 (W4, D5, L1) on 17 points. Oddly our 4 remaining games would all be at home against Rotherham, Oxford, Peterborough and Wycombe.

If the mini-tournament idea is being considered, and I'm not sure this isn't just something Sky have made up, then I see no reason we should play games we have already played this season.

Can see the advantage for Sky. Gives them a load of content. They could even push for the whole thing to be held somewhere like St George Park which would save them the cost of keep moving around their production setup.

As can I, but I’m hoping that isn’t the deciding factor for the EFL.

I reckon they'll cave into whatever Sky demand. They do, after all, rely so much on TV revenue and it's not called the "Sky Bet" league because they like Jeff Stelling.

They could offer clubs like us who are in a decent position to go up anyway a sweetner, some kind of cash incentive to go along with this circus.

I think the problem is that if there was a shortage of testing equipment available and it was used up by footballers, I think there would quite rightly be uproar.

Yes I agree. The only reason why they can't play the rest of the season behind closed doors is because of players/staff passing the bug around each other. So playing some kind of daft mini Sky orientated tourny still has this social distancing problem. I cannot see any legal or rational way that the latter is better or safer than the former.

They just need sort out some way of televising or streaming all the remaining games so the clubs don't loose out too much on match day revenues.

I'd punt for games played every four days, with each league starting on a different day. PL Sat, Champ Sun, L1 Mon, L2 Tues, PL Wed, Champ, Fri, L1 Sat, L2 Sun, PL Mon .... you get the idea.

One game on every night on Sky Football starting at 9pm, just to stop the subscribers moaning....but then Sky free up about a dozen channels (easy enough as the Olympics proved for the BBC) so everyone can watch all the other games for an extra fee, start them at 7pm so not to clash. Round the clock footy to satisfy the armchair pundits, pay per view or a one off fee of £100 to get all those extra feeds. That's about a tenner you'd spend anyway on you're own team.

That's hit the nail on the head
Morally football can only resume once all key workers etc have had or have the chance of a test if they want one
Football can then resume in similar circumstances as in Germany if all has worked out well there

I don’t see how it’s even an option or why anyone would vote for it. If you can play 3 games then theoretically you should be able to play the final 10
