My opinion is Burnham is a snake oil salesman like Blair.

The only reason he is going on about rejoining the EU (he won’t) and electoral reform (he has zero interest in this) is in the probable reality he calls an election next year (which he denies) he has the Liberal Democrat’s on board. He needs those votes to get a majority.

Andy Burnham stands for nothing but himself and this strange manufactured brand. I have repeatedly said Mr Burnham has significant pro Israel donors. So spare us the nonsense he cares about Gaza other than it gets him votes.

It’s fine and I don’t have a problem with it but he’s no different to the likes of Johnson or Cameron and he took great glee it stabbing Starmer in the front and the back.

Blair did get you to vote for him however.

And up until Iraq, he did at least have a vision for the country and where to take it. Some won't like what he did, but he probably is the last Prime Minister to have set out well his ideals, even if in a nebulous form, and take it forward (maybe you could argue Cameron did similar in that respect). Burnham does seem similar in that respect as well, that at least he seems to want to deliver a message that looks forward and offers ideas to solve problems rather than just talking about them.

Now I'll agree that he magically moved leftwards back in the day when he noticed Corbyn was picking up votes in *that* leadership election, and he is slightly difficult to tie down in that respect. He does seem better able to convey a message than Starmer however, and I am genuinely more hopeful we'll see a bit of fight in terms of appealing to traditional Labour voters rather than just try and mimic others to try and face them off.

And I'm afraid Johnson is a league above just about anyone, Labour or Tory, in terms of being self serving!

he opened a can of worms about Russian intervention for Brexit and now back tracking

Difference is when your mayor of Manchester you can say things with little to no consequence now PM everything is scrutinised

Burnham comes out saying he’ll be different to other politicians about being straight talking and transparent yet doing exactly what all others do and worm his way out of statements he makes

You don’t think Russia had a hand in Brexit or in supporting far right parties in Europe and reform in the uk?

It’s also reported they significantly tried to influence the 2017 election in favour of Jeremy Corbyn a known ally of Russia who frequently appeared on Russia today?

Who knows who interferes in what

But the fact Burnham is now doubling down on what he said shows how stupid going on that podcast was
Why? Which is right is he doubling down or reigning it back like grendel said
Russia are the disinformation experts. You don’t think Farage knew about the guy in prison. Talk about naive

Many on here swallowed the Putin narrative regarding the Salisbury poisonings that it was a MI5 conspiracy

Did they?

And given you’re the one who wholesale swallowed Putins essay on the history of Ukraine and regurgitated it as fact your claim is ironically hilarious even if it’s true, which I don’t think it is.

Fucking hell, scumbags.

One positive of Reform's council election success is they are showing everyone how woefully incompetent they are.

Thankfully it seems they are going to get nowhere near government.

That'll probably play well with their base mind you.

Remember when Trump said he could shoot someone in Times Square and it wouldn't make any difference? Feels similar for Farage and Reform.

Whatever comes out just gets brushed off by their supporters and if anyone else discusses it, or discusses their supporters ignoring it, you get some variantion on Reform are winning because you keep calling their supporters stupid.

Not the first examples like this and they appear at a frequency and volume that should raise questions if this is to all intents and purposes an expected norm with their supporters.

They've won elections and then had people resign, or be removed, at record rate but its treated as a non-issue. And while there is certainly an element of you can't judge the parliamentary party based off local government performance when you're a new party pushing to win a general election you surely make sure things are running smoothly when its going to be the only past performance you can be judged on.

That's before you consider Farage and Yusuf saying they were going to be directly involved in running some of those councils, which led to questions around if they had any right to do so as unelected party members.

I think where the grey lines on this are, Reform are still a relatively new party and probably don't have the infrastructure or the right resource for the initial vetting process. I imagine there are lots more like them too who won't yet have been discovered and all they can do as these are exposed, remove them from the party and tbf to them they have done that in this case.

No doubt the ones in question will move over to Restore. It can hardly be a surprise that the more extreme sides attract even more extreme people as each will have a fairly broad church. I imagine there are plenty of Conservative voters to the left and right of me too and I'm sure similar with a lot of you who are staunch Labour supporters. Equally I'm pretty confident that the Green party will have some radical Muslims among their ranks and a similar expose could be out there but less newsworthy, so the pile on reads like a bit of faux outrage.

You clearly missed the furore over their Zionism resolution...

Got to hope that those who really are concerned about our women and children recognise that Reform aren't the solution, they're part of the problem.

Fair with a lot of this, but maybe they shouldn’t then come out on the attack against ITV before the story is released. Kinda smacks as them not seeing it as an issue.

Richard Tice claims one of them is a Tory plant!

If they can't take responsibility why would things get better?

I'd agree to an extent but there's been multiple examples of people who have passed Reforms vetting process while still having viewable content on their social media platforms that should have ruled them out.

At some point they need to take responsibility rather than blaming everyone else or claiming its a setup.

There's almost certainly problematic members of all parties, its fairly inconceivable there isn't, how they respond when they are discovered is the key.

Problem is since the 2024 GE he’s claimed at least 3 times that they’ve fixed their vetting process to stop this happening again.

Come on that’s not fair just cause someone thinks people of a different race or nation are not worthy of human rights or being treated in a humane way it doesn’t mean someone is racist

I assumed you'd blocked me. Do you think we'll stay up if we carry on like we played Monday?

Sir Nige blaming 'the establishment' again for this latest incident.

Yes Nigel, it was the establishment that made your councillors make those appalling comments. Of course it was.

They obviously have to but it’s safe to say councillors in general are of a type.
