Green and Red are the official colours of Coventry. Probably more representative of the city itself than sky blue.

Which is a fair point.

Go for red, green and black and a name change and you can count me in.

If you have chosen red why not add sky blue stripes for a Barca style strip ? I agree with some link to CCFC maybe Coventry Singers FC ?
Would attract more support from CCFC fans if the club is in exile ?

Nevertheless, good luck with the project, every success, all long journeys start with one small step.

Like the idea of red and sky blue. Don't want to just be an exact clone of CCFC do they.

Agree with name change. United suggests a rival to city, which is fine if you are established. When you are looking for sympathetic city fans maybe not the best idea. Also don't think it should have the word City in. Needs to be clear its a different club but with roots in CCFC.

No, cos they will start off in the amateur leagues and end up playing in someone's back garden 30 miles away.

don't understand the relevance of this post to this board. If there is to be a breakaway club then yes good idea etc.. if they want to set up a club which will be even lower than Cov sphinx are now then go for it but its hardly a viable alternative to watching professional football as for the first few years in the very low leagues they won't be even playing semi -professional.

For a decent red and green kit check out Mayo GAA or NEC Nijmegen - seen both play.

How is the club going to be promoted. One thing you NEED is to make fans feel involved. This is key after the crap we have been through the last few years.

Not the time to be talking about being promoted, they need to start playing games first.

You have to enter at the bottom rung and grow mate. No choice in that. FC United had to do this and they are a breakaway from the biggest club in the country if not the world. They manage to get a few thousand fans in the lower leagues. No reason a Coventry club cannot get high hundreds up or low thousands.

Yep. Over a thousand if they change the name, only 12 if they keep the name United..

Lets Be Honest,You say you have ambition and potential backing ,let me put this to you.
if i was to start a club that i wanted to go somewhere i would think of 3 things and 3 things only 1....Fans 2....investment.3....players .
without fans you will struggle to get revenue /investment ,so the fact that you are basing a clubs name and colours on the basis of what 15 people want i.e 4 investors 11players over what your fans would want then you are starting off on the wrong foot.
if you was to put this accross as a breakaway club like fc united did then you would gain more support from the go,if you kept the clubs history at mind more people would go,if you made fans feel united against a cause more fans would go.
instead you are calling it coventry united and playing in red,to most people you will be another saturday football team plying its trade in the lower leagues and they will never think or care about coventry united anymore than they do alvis

Maybe. I will give it a try regardless. But they will tempt more fans with a more appropriate name.

Fan involvement in decision making is key. At the end of the day fans want to feel a part of the club which is where CCFC have gone wrong. Any club that can offer that will get my support.

I think you could combine the sky blue with another colour (red/yellow/whatever) to give a new identity whilst maintaining CCFC roots of the fans.

For me to be interested I would need to feel some association with the history of CCFC and Coventry, so playing in sky blue colours would be a must so that we could sing the sky blue anthem, and I would prefer a name such as Sky Blues FC or Godiva FC, anything but United.

I like it...maybe slightly increase the yellow bands & bolden it (more like CCFC away kit as in) - the second strip could be a simple reverse of the colours.
Keep it simple...don't change it every season or two. Make it a 5yr thing to burn the identity in properly.

As far as somebody posted earlier suggesting doing what the fans want...Coventry United are brand new so have very few fans. Or are you suggesting Man City fans should be listened to by Man Utd when making decisions? Lol

FC United and AFC Wimbledon listen to their fans. If a rival club is what is wanted you will not find many to support that on here.

Fair play I say. People have been on here moaning about Sisu and the current state of affairs. People have been talking about a third club in the city. People have done nothing about it.

Now some people have. They've put their money where there mouth is and gone with it.

And now the forum people are moaning about the colours and the name. Well tough. They've gone balls deep and gone for it and this is what they are offering.

Fair play, hope it's a success. I may well pop along myself.
