I don't like the new style and it has been a letdown of a season but there is no way we are going down.

Zero chance
A bold statement that. Do you accept we’re in a battle to stay up?

Emotions are high, everyone is pissed off. If Robins wasn’t Robins there would be more questions asked. But he is Robins and he’s earned that.

Talk of MR out and relegation is OTT at this point. No way we’re going down.

We have scored one goal in the last 4 games.... where do you see the goals coming from in this team?

Cos I can't see too many

I hate to agree with Matt Smith I really do - but the difference is we’re two points worse off than last season, when we didn’t have a ground…

We also don’t have a Gyokeres and Hamer to pull us through the shit. Most of the players Robins has signed are wank. Haji Wright cost 7.7 million and quite frankly I wouldn’t pay 750k he’s an absolute disaster of a signing

It has been a bit of a shock at how badly we have adjusted this season but I'd say losing Vik and Hamer would derail most teams, that's the heart of the team gone. Was disastrous not being able to replace Gus. And pretty mental to try and totally change the system at the same time. That's on Robin's. Today was odd as 1st half we looked ok and more comfortable in using the box.

I dunno I just think it's mostly confidence and adjusting to the league that is holding them back. I'm positive we'll come good. Just looks way worse when you look at the fees we paid.

Middlesbrough lost Giles, Archer and Akpom… they seem to be getting better

Sorry to interrupt another post-loss BSB meltdown, but as bad as we looked going forward, we absolutely didn’t look like relegation fodder tonight.
aye, we were awful going forward but we aren't relegation fodder

I mean relegation fodder Rotherham created more clear cut chances against us than we did tonight… that’s an Alarm bell

It isn’t a meltdown, not half and maybe you can direct your comments at those going a bit further. Robins and McF are presumably also in meltdowns based on their comments tonight.

There’s so been so much change

robins needs to stick to an 11

least then we definitely know if these new players are shit 😂

Agree with this. Stick to the box. Simms up top though for me. Lati and Kitching as two of the three, not sure about Fadz at the mo though.

Tonight summed up the season for me. Not a bad performance, stinking first goal, miss a couple of sitters and a shocker from the officials. Just not getting the rub of the green as I’ve said before.

Ps text from baggies mate

‘We were lucky with a couple of decisions to be fair but we can be hard to break down and you missed a couple of great chances’

Well I didn’t hear either of them declare we were in a potential relegation battle and it would be “bold” to suggest otherwise. Thankfully they know the difference between a crap performance and a crap bunch of players.

Robins just stated the obvious that we need to take chances and is waiting for us to 'click'. I mean I'm not loving the style today but we are miles off being bottom 3.

Usual over reaction

Not sure i can keep telling myself "we will come good" for many more games. That was such a frustrating game, not getting the penalty, concede an awful goal and miss an absolute sitter. At least we've got a nice trip to Preston coming up, always get something there don't we 🤣

The manager has wanted to build a possession based game. We are getting the lion’s share of it every week and getting 0 points and 0 goals. The question now is if he is willing to admit that it’s not working.

Robins probably has made mistakes here but I'd much rather he figure that out how to get us going rather than someone fresh. He deserves that opportunity and if people were calling him the best thing since sliced bread and should have a statue etc but now doubting his ability to turn around a blip start after wholesale changes then blimey. We aren't getting Pep and £200m to spend just so you know if we sack Robins. Give him time. A season isn't even long in footy, never mind 12 games or whatever it is. I'm sure we've even had a run worse than this with Robins before but he always comes up with the goods.

Not sure if you heard his post match interview but it’s quite clear to everyone it’s not currently working. If he thought we were mired in a relegation battle after 13 games then it would make sense to change things asap but I’m not sure he agrees with you.

Interesting stat. We have lost all the games we have had a significant higher amount of possession. The Rotherham commentary team mentioned it.

61% Wimbledon lost 2-1
64% Cardiff lost 3-2
66% Rotherham lost 2-0
68% Bristol lost 1-0
66% West Brom lost 2-0

Where as the 3 wins we had similar or less possession

49.5% Middlesbrough won 3-0
48% QPR won 3-1
34.5% Blackburn won 1-0

We aren't a possession team, we don't have the players for it. Even without Gus and Vik we are better on the counter, sucking teams out and then hitting them on the break[/b]

This is a cracking stat tbf, clearly shows we’re not good as a possession-based team. We lack the mentality and ability to be able to move the ball around with fluidity meaning we never cause the opposition problems, we don’t try though balls, we don’t try 1-2’s, we don’t pull defenders out of positions, we don’t try either ambitious or non-ambitious shots when we have the opportunity, it is SO predictable it’s getting beyond a joke now.

The box worked much better than the old 2 up top formation, I hope we don’t just shelve that because we conceded an offside goal and our keeper made a howler.

Lose again on Saturday and potentially be in 21st place just 3 points above the drop zone, I don’t think there’ll be much doubt. We can’t score even gilt edged sitters, keep giving away poor goals and the midfield remains lacking in dynamism. I mean I could be wrong and we go and beat PNE away for the first ever time in the league, but I imagine not.

Do possession based teams work effectively at any level of football where player quality is of a similar level? Only works if your players are two or three levels above the opposition it appears.

Having a high possession is usually a result of your players being so much better than the opposition, altering your game to artificially increase your possession stats where the players on both teams are of a similar quality rarely seems to be successful.
