OK 14 chances, how many made you think it would hit the back of the net? our buildup play was fine, just felt like that cutting edge.

Not necessarily, County have to come out a bit more 2nd leg and that might suit us. What you expect is at odds with what happens in football over two legs. 1-1 at half time and you think we have lost? Unbelievable when we were the better footballing side especially in first half and created 3 really good chances.

I don't think we have lost, If you read my other comments, I think it will be harder, we seem to struggle to perform under pressure. And I don't feel like we were unlucky not to win. At home in a playoff I think we should feel unlucky not to get a win not fine with a draw

Bloody hell that was stressful.

We were better than Notts by miles. They setup to soak up the pressure.

Second leg is now the real pressure game.

Stressful in a good way. About time we saw City in a play-off game.

Watched both L2 play-off games. Football wise, we wipe the floor with the other contenders. We're just lacking play-off experience and at times, a cutting edge. We played some really good stuff tonight and deserved something.

County may have the tools to hurt us, but we have the means in our locker to hurt them too. Their home form doesn't worry me and means jack shit on Friday.

Sky seem convinced it wasn’t a penalty fwiw. Don Goodman calling it all manner of variations on injustice, when really 1-1 is a fair result for a game we (largely) controlled.

Regarding how many chances looked like hitting the back of net, penalty, hit post, and one stopped on line. So thats three and County did little apart from the goal. Our build up play was good tonight and it gives County plenty to think about.we also had a few half chances.

Ps you expected a win for us to progress. Suggesting we have missed our chance?

No chance - it was a great finish and the real difference was they had two hard working forwards who really tested our defence

We had McNulty

Its a shame we played in to the water logged side first half.

Lets hope we don't get a ref next week who tries to make up for todays mistake

Penalty from my perspective looked soft and wasn't a "real chance" hitting the post was the one that should have gone in. Stopped on the line I thought was more on the keeper than us. I don't think i'm normally that negative. I also didn't think they did all that much.

Player that scored was behind their player who crossed it, so not off side.

Wasn't a penalty but I'm talking about McNulty taking a penalty. So their keeper saving on the line had nothing to do with our attacking play? Unbelievable. If he hadn't it was in the net. Plus one of their players deflect a header on target over the bar

A really decent game. Thought Kelly was MOTM for me.

Grimmers final ball/crossing continues to be awful.

Have a look at the ratings thread. Confirmation bias all over it. Kelly and Doyle kept us going.

I think one of those where it is agree to disagree, Sky made more of the stop on the line than it was cause they had goal line tech.. I'm not saying we did badly. We have made it hard for ourselves as always. I just want to get out of this shit league. so many clogers

I have to say no less optimistic than if we took a goal lead, better in a way as no confusion about how to approach it

Thoughts:

SBA turned out and stayed behind the team even after giving away a poor goal, good to see.

No way was it a pen but balanced out the foul given against McNulty when brought down on the edge of the box.

Several great chances in the first half not taken, second half we struggled to click going forward and ran out of ideas. Kept trying little triangles on a bog of a pitch, not sure why.

On the balance of the halves a draw is fair but they were there for the taking and think we'll end up regretting that. Notts are nothing special but clearly had a plan.

Tough game and if I was a county fan I would be disappointed going home with the draw given the dubious penalty, but obviously don’t give a shit. The pitch was the great leveller, county adapted quicker to the conditions that we did, we continued to try and pass through the water down that left side where they punted the ball up there and got the stoppage in the corner. Thought grimmer was unlucky on their goal but equally he had a poor game. Doyle looked a bit tired and let quite a bit through him, not sure if that was partly due to the early yellow. Not the ideal result but by far not a disaster but if think we need to be a lot more clinical away, I think we need to score at least twice on Friday to go through

What really annoyed me about tonight’s performance was every time we got to the byline we stick it up in the air for Mcnulty to try to get his head to...which given the size of the two Notts County centre halves was never going to happen...why are we incapable of fizzing one across the six yard box???

Just watched the highlights didn’t realise from that corner in the first half that took that went out and came back in Davies ‘stood’ on Duffy as he ran away. Can the EFL review it back? If they can I think it’ll be a 3 match ban.

We were an absolute credit to football tonight. Did the result or conditions go our way? No. But we're the only team trying to get out of this division playing proper football and I'm proud of that tonight even if we got out of jail with the pen.

We go again.

It’s half time and on reflection a fair result. Played it around fairly well in difficult conditions and no shortage of commitment. However, we lacked conviction in the final third and our final balls were wasteful despite some good, patient build up.

They are well drilled, organised and tough but we can go there and win. No doubts. The backing of our fans will make a difference but it will need a monumental performance to get to Wembley.

A night for heroes on and off the pitch next Friday.....

One thing is for sure- we’ll need the fans right behind us next week

Luckily we have the best away support in the division by a country mile
