I’m not so sure. Depends where his recent family roots are. I just presumed they were midlands having spent most of his career in the area with Walsall and then here.

Our defence was far better under Ady’s coaching and since the back line remained largely unchanged when Lampard came in i think the basics installed remained.

It’s now a shambles and we have a no2 keeper who isn’t in tune either.

I said earlier in the thread that Thomas is on back post duties marking space for both goals. Whilst his big head may block more of the goal than other players and he is our best blocker, you’ve got to have him stationed in the main mix challenging for the ball and put the short players like Lati on post duty

why on earth would you have played Wilson out of loyalty?

It’s a fair question.

In terms of promoting team spirit and morale, getting the message that if you keep plugging away that your chance will come, putting Wilson in (who is now clearly not up to Rushworth’s standard but has shown he can keep clean sheets and is familiar with how certain of our players play (hence my ridiculous remark that he knows how to throw to Gus - I’m saying that he’ll know how to find certain players and if they are better receiving to the left / right / space in front or back to goal or if they are simply poor at anticipation) would possibly have a better effect on team spirit. Never underestimate a good feeling in the dressing room.

Overlooking Wilson for someone who I think was an odd signing - especially (I might be wrong) when there is an emergency keeper rule in place should Rushworth get crocked seems a poorly thought out choice taking everything into account.

Yes, I didn’t get this at all. To me Hamer is never going to be effective up top in the Premier League. Surely he’s best suited to a deeper lying role where his passing abilities can be utilised. I thought the game largely passed him by, and I wouldn’t blame him because he was played out of position. I didn’t get it at all.
