CCFC/Ipswich/Hull summer recruitment thread. (4 Viewers)

so when you say his whole career your talking about a player that’s only 22 years old , what can you really take from that which makes you so sure he won’t improve ? His already improved a lot since we had him on loan 18 months ago !

You guys have paid £20-£25m for a goalkeeper who had almost identical stats last season to Christian Walton who is now our third choice goalkeeper and who we paid a couple of million for , it may be that you have well overpaid for him have you considered that?
We’ve paid a lot because we know how busy he’s going to be this year. You’ve spent half of that on goalkeepers but you have no idea how good they are, Infact I’ve seen quite a lot of criticism about the new number 1 already from the pre season friendlies. Suppose you won’t be worried because you’ve still got Christian Walton who has identical stats to Rushworth anyway.

The Forest fans aren't too bad in all honesty. Ipswich fans were unbearable all throughout last season too so not much changed in that regard. At least there's no Southampton fans to worry about.
Too busy crying over being owned by a man in a hornet costume yesterday.

My take on it at the moment is that we've added a lot of high quality players, and are targeting only players that will likely make us better. So far only Hamer you'd consider as a depth signing, all others are starters (Cherif will probably fit in the high potential bracket once he signs, rather than immediate starter).

Ipswich are taking more of a scattergun approach. High potential players, but equally high risk. They've signed enough that they don't all need to be a success though. Enciso is their best signing, but also like the couple of cheaper Premier League experienced players they've added. A few odd signings too.

I think both have a fighting chance of staying up. I can see a couple of established teams dropping - a few that look like they could be in trouble this year. Might just be a good year to be promoted with the new SCR rules.

Hull, on the other hand, looks like a total dumpster fire. Be surprised if they finish any higher than 20th. Sure that'll bite me on the arse in 2 weeks time but I just don't like anything they've done (so far).

If you in anyway think Walton is anywhere near on the level Rushworth is then I am sorry but I can't help you.

Ironically the two games we had against Coventry last season were amongst the easiest we had against anyone all season which is crazy when you consider that you won the league and were the best side across the season !

That said (and you may find this yourselves season after next ) many relegated sides don’t always hit the ground running for a while , you don’t know what your final squad will be right up until the end of August , we lost a few big players that we hadn’t expected to lose and our opening performances were shaky while we bedded in a new team, you guys had a settled side for a while similar to when we went up a couple of seasons ago and that really makes a big difference, I can’t remember the exact point in the season but there was a point where our points tally was as good as yours once we became settled , that along with the two comfortable wins (I can’t remember the last time we didn’t win against you actually ?) gives me hope that we may well reverse the league positions this season, wether that will be enough to stay up we will see !

Would be nice actually if both sides stayed up at the expense of spurs and another big
Club !
That's not my recollection of the game at Portman Rd where bar a post and a clear denied red card I think the game would have gone the other way

Ipswich fans don't see that though
All decisions going for them were right and just

Probably true of most fans tbh. Either way, it worked out.....I just thought they were pretty ordinary, even in the two games we lost to them. But I'm sure QPR, Oxford, Hull fans might say the same about us

Hmmm. Hitting the post was about all we did IIRC. We certainly looked second best in both games.

just looked at the stats - 10 shots each in that game, 57% possession to us. Not disagreeing that we didn't deserve to win but the two late goals skewed perceptions. And the red card at 0-0 would have changed the game entirely

They scored with their 1st attack in the 40th minute
KKH had a great chance with a header , EMC forced a good save
We controlled the game until they scored, Hirst should've gone , no question and had the ref not bottled it we had the game

Our place we were out classed even though a stone wall penalty on Haji at 0-0

Eh who cares, they won the games, we won the league. Both teams will look a lot different this season so I don't think either of those things are overly relevant anyway.

It would have been an extraordinarily harsh red let’s be honest.

Fuck me, he booked Eccles for the exact same thing only minutes earlier , you really are a melon

Eccles yellow was also harsh but it’s rare a player gets sent off for taking a shot when through after the whistle has gone. It’s usually a blatant attempt to delay a restart. We’d have been fuming if one of ours had been sent off for it.

Especially when ipswich were involved
stats would seem to support this:

The implied penalty rate per box touch was roughly:

  • Ipswich: 1 penalty every 115 box touches
  • Middlesbrough: 1 every 456
  • Coventry: 1 every 255
  • Sheffield United: 1 every 240

Its just the narrative that ipswich schooled us drives me mad
We were far better than them at their place until the ref bottled it
After , no denying they improved remarkably but this bollox that they gave us a hiding is just horse shit

Southampton away, Scabby bastards away, Charlton home, Ipswich home , Leicester at home x2 all stonewallers not given
Ipswich got loads

They beat us 5-0 on aggregate. IIRC they gave us our two heaviest defeats, the only team bar Hull we failed to score against and the only team to do the double over us. I’m not saying they gave us a hiding but we were some way off them in the two games all told.

We won the league comfortably and were the more consistent team over the season but in just those head to head games they clearly had the better of us.

Although in the last 3 games v ipswich two at Coventry I think the score is 9-1 to Ipswich must be some terrible ref's out there

Every other fan will think cov signings are cack and their ones are brilliant!

Well there certainly was a bottler at your place but as usual , tractor boys don't see any wrong doings

I couldn’t give a fuck about those Farage worshipping tractor shaggers. They beat us twice but we finished 11 points ahead of them and the majority of their transfer business so far has been meh

First game we were dominant until you scored, and you should have been down to ten men.

Second we were second best.

You did play us twice at the right time, though; it's unusual to have two games against the same opposition in such proximity, and it didn't help us there.

None of it is relevant now, though; nothing that happened last season will have any bearing on what happens this. It's going to be down to whose business was more prudent, whose players adapt better, and whose manager is more savvy at the higher level.

I don't pretend to know who will perform better over the season out of of us and Ipswich, but I'd be surprised if both aren't competitive, regardless of the ultimate outcome.

who cares, can we stop arguing with them so they stop clogging this place up
Why on earth do we even keep going on about those Ipswich games? I often wonder if the Fulham fans harped on about the 2 games they got splattered by Cov after their Championship super team mopped up the league. Its weird we talk about it so much, I almost forgive the tractor molesters doing it as they have to cling on to something when they were expected to walk the league and finished miles off the champs. They can still piss off the forum though, its not a fanbase I have much time for.

Hulls business really has been shocking hasnt it. And they were the side with most to do out of the 3. Genuinely see them struggling to get 15 points

Our list is so tidy. Hulls recruitment looks absolute wank... they are going to beat us in our first home game arent they? 😂

I know have said no chance but I have seen someone claim Christian Walton is of a similar level to Rushworth so I just don't know what the fuck is going on with the world anymore.
