Big T let everyone down

And you still can't see how he is better than Simms?

I think people are being clouded a bit by his red card.
How many goals Nick? I like his hold up play, but in this system, you could play anyone and we won't score..

I don’t think he is better than Simms (and I am no fan of Simms). It’s just my opinion but it was formed way before his sending off.

I guess I am just disappointed we have gone into the PL without buying a striker capable of more than 5 goals this season. Instead of spunking >£100m on average players, I wish we had bought a proven striker.

I can't figure him out.

I know we can't just hit the long ball up to him as our only tactic though.
In fairness, the situation when he came on yesterday isn't the time to judge him in any way. Suspect we'll have more time to make a judgement over the next 3 games.

Definitely a red card but I was surprised how poor all the angles were for the replays. The ref had the best view

Who would this proven striker have been ?

He's very obviously better than Simms. He has a dynamism that Simms does not.

I have no issue with Awoniyi's signing. The one that looks weird is Cherif; a big chunk of transfer budget on a youngster that's barely played and is probably going to take significant time to integrate.

As strikers go were fishing in the pool of “do a job” for small cash or “take a punt on potential” for a bit more. I enjoy seeing people write things like we should have gone out and bought a proven striker. We couldn’t. You can’t get them within our transfer and wages budget.

Oh I know, hard to judge him off that. I just mean I can't figure out how we would play to his strengths. From his highlights he looks like he needs people to play into the channels or through balls so he can run directly towards goal. Not with his back to it.

If I was hit by the big lump like that I would expect to see him given his marching orders. And I'm old school who believes in just getting up and getting on with it.

I watched it back and I still think it's very harsh! Once the referee gave it it was never going to be over turned by VAR

Calvert-Lewin just commited pretty much the same foul. Yellow card.
Absolute joke, a bit like on another thread EMC being wrestled to the ground, the ref even warning their player, Sunderland get a penalty for exactly the same thing. With VAR you’d thing they could improve consistency, even over the same weekend. The VAR team should go, well Coventry got a red for that yesterday so Calvert-Lewin needs to get a red today!

Agree with this, Calvert-Lewin looked to see where the player was before putting his elbow out. Was there any difference, apart from the card colour?

And Taiwo didn’t look to see where the player was

I mean in the time hes been with us, goal and assist.
Against a L1 reserve

Nonsense . If thats the csse then dont waste money on players no better than whatvwe already have got

Two incidents in the Leeds v Newcastle tonight! Very similar to Big T's one ref never spoke to the player one he gave a yellow to which was quite bad really. Perhaps its new team syndrome for the refs! I.e teach the cunts who's boss

Could be, with Mike Dean coming out the other day saying himself and other officials used to play “mini games”, I wouldn’t be surprised if they do decide they are going to be arses to certain teams.
