Again we lack creativity in the final third, but the reality is Barnsley do a press on us and just foul the crap out us. It works. This won’t happen in every game. Very reason Robins protected Jones and didn’t bring him on. Although we could have done with some Direct attacking play.

A point was there for the taking but you have to question why Waghorn didn’t take that. He’s a set piece specialist. Wolves goal was conviction.

Anyway, plenty to learn from the game and good to see Ian getting better and better.

I agree with most the post... Except the first bit, we are 2 games into the season, hardly worth the 'hes the only striker to score on the pitch'

To be fair,that’s exactly my approach when playing Footy Manager - then again I am Hersham boss,what would I know?

Weirdly optimistic after that. Absolute gutter to lose 1-0 to a shite goal coming out of nowhere but with us hitting the bar, one-off the line and a penalty, we’d have 3 on another day and dominated Barnsley with 63% for most of the game.

We play that like we’ll be ok this season.
Just need to be more clinical in front of goal.

It's the common approach for managers up and down the leagues. If a player's isn't confident they shouldn't take it. But if I'm waghorn I'm taking it no matter what. That's what disappoints me. Waghorn was trying to calm Gyo down before the pen.

When was a Robins team,or any team, the finished article 2 games in? Same as you, quite optimistic.

Completely agree. When our best striker is back on the pitch, we're converting more of these chances.

Exactly.

Still a number of players to come into the team.
Maatsen looked far far better today and that's after 2 games. Think he will get better and better with coaching.

Clarke-salter looked very good, and pulled off a great challenge second half, confident once the new players bed in and we get everyone fit we will be better than last season.

Totally agree with that, I think from what I’ve seen so far we will comfortably finish mid table. Apart from not scoring, and the switch off for the goal, the performance was very good.

On way home. Decent performanvce , poor result. They wasted as much time as they could. Get off gyokeres’ back, He made a mistake move on. It’s easy to say “waghorn should’ve taken it” but hindsight is a wonderful thing

To be fair mate it's not hindsight, Waghorn scored our last penalty.
But agree, it's done, no one should be getting on Gyos back
