You'd like to think we'll give it a good go but , this has been a mad transfer window, fee -wise for players. Agents are greedy b&stards, the World Cup has delayed the normal process (as well as inflated the fees). I think we need to wait until the window has closed before we judge our activity. We could have signed another 5 x £20m players and still been turned over by Arsenal and Man City. Need to be patient, as we can't do anything about it as fans, and buying a ST doesn't give us the right to demand anything. Individuals can vote with their feet later on if they are unhappy. Some seem to have turned when we have just stormed the league, and not played a competitive match since. Relax!!!

Yes there was illness and it seemed to be bad e.g. Torp, Milan. Lampard spoke about fatigue too.

If you consider we're going to be paying the lowest wages in the league, well below the average and we will be quite strict on the fees we pay - we're only going to be in a position to do a deal when other options disappear. As other deals happen, players in squads will be pushed out of the first team or the squad entirely, into a market where Premier League options dry up a bit - that's when we're likely to be able to do a deal within our wage & transfer fee constraints, or perhaps a loan.

With us winning promotion so early, I had thought / hoped that we'd come right out of the gates when the window opened and secure a bunch of targets, but when you consider the terms we can offer vs our rivals - there's almost no chance that happens.

Lots of folk online slagging off recruitment etc but I don't think have fully understood the owner we have, the constraints we're operating with and what that means in the marketplace.

I have no doubt more players will be signed and some players will leave. But i also think FL is very loyal and has a lot of faith and trust in the squad as a whole. He wants more and obviously wanted Rushworth, but its has been said multiple time about giving those who got us up a chance.

Hopefully we can get 4 or 5 in before we kick a ball in anger. But Doug has stood by this squad before and we all questioned it, look how that turned out ...

I'm surprised at how worked up people get about all this. Surely we trust that the people who have dragged us into our best position in decades are doing all they can to push us forward (within the financial parameters we have). It is clearly a very difficult market

If that's not enough then so be it. The worst (and most likely) case scenario is relegation where we're till in the best position we've been in compared to the previous 25 years

I think the players possibly did too much last summer. It gave as a good start for once but the deep fatigue by Christmas was there for us all to see. The CBS friendlies will be about a dry run for all the new equipment for VAR and broadcast, I suppose as much as match sharpness. I'm hoping Arsenal will be behind us in their prep after the WC.

No it won’t. 18 month ago we weren’t flirting with relegation to league 1 and it didn’t get toxic.

Fans might get frustrated during games at times, but most of us are realistic about a first season back in the premier league.

It would actually get more toxic if we overspend and still do badly

The flu outbreak was bad without doubt. Having said that I remember BTA going off fatigued as early as October and there was no question that the players were heavily fatigued before the flu hit. The lack of squad depth was the problem we had some very weak looking benches for quite a while with nobody available who could influence games. We left players out there because we had to a lot of the time Grimes looked very tired for a period, for example.

There has been the small matter of the World Cup holding things up. I guess it both delayed deals for Amenda and Yirenki, pushed up prices, but also validated buying them??

I think of the three promoted teams you're best placed to stay up. Are you able to turn the Ricoh into a fortress as home form is massive - we only won 1 away game in that first season up and regularly got pumped on the road.

The difference in level is mental. I genuinely had no idea until we went to Newcastle in the first game and Joelinton looked like an adult playing a load of kids. Every team has players that are good too hence why you'll see a Brentford player starting for Brazil these days.
