    Warwickshire CCC 2019 Thread

i'd almost go further. there's no need for overseas players in 4 day cricket. Eat up salary cap, don't increase revenue, (does a "Bancroft add to Somerset's attendances" for 4 day cricket), stifles development of English players (how many under 23s playing 1st XI cricket even compared to the...

    Warwickshire CCC 2019 Thread

Big bugbear of mine. Think counties are lazy and take shortcuts with kolpak players etc. Think they offer nothing to the quality of cricket or improve the appeal of any form of the domestic game. Time maybe has come to reduce number of counties and find a way to promote young players who can...

No coincidence they have an aussie coach. Too many counties looking at short term gains. Kolpak players killing some counties. Wonder Test player pool is so small? Look at number of over 30s non England qualified filling certain counties.

do think there's an obsession with finding a leftie - could put Sam Curran and even Garton ahead of him. Plus there's a couple of injured players that'll come back into consideration like Roland-Jones, Helm

Stone tearing it up. Could be a huge boost if he can stay fit. Up there in the 90s. Apparently did well in Australia over winter and impressed selectors in net sessions in Perth.

RIP Butch. Met him more than a few times over a long period of years and was consistently a genuinely nice guy.

Which Club Gets Under Your Skin?

Never a good ground to go to particularly in the 80s. Nasty fans who would have a go at anyone. Got a kicking and my coat nicked when we got beat 6-2 there. Loads of police & dogs, we didn't take many and they were still picking off small groups all the way back to Euston.

Which Club Gets Under Your Skin?

West ham's a strange one. Worst violence think I've seen was league Cup semi at their place. Arrogance about the World Cup & the West Ham way irritating.. But was something about night games at Upton Park. Getting there, around the ground and then the atmosphere inside was always special.

liverpool - seemed to win everything 70s/80s, plastic fans and genuine arrogance that they have some divine right to believe they should win everything leeds- scruffy club and just horrible fans Villa - enough said. Forest - used to be a dirty away trip MK Dons - never sat right when they moved...

there's a lot of young talent to play around Trott & Bell. Likes of Hain, Lamb, Sibley, Hose & Rhodes - a couple of those pay off and could go well. Add in Stone if he stays fit and it's a decent pace attack. Some good kids in and around as well.

Problem is doesn't seem to be. Stoneman was supposed to be best candidate based on several years of big runs in domestic cricket. Hamed had a shocker last year. Jennings hasn't looked the part. Cook scored a shed load last year in County cricket but still making poor technical mistakes at Test...

Can do it at home but only rarely looks likely of getting more than a couple of wickets a game. Batting & injuries kept him in Test side. Before his injury looked like he had started to get it sorted but hasn't really looked the same since.
