Empty Seats

One of the worst experiences ever at the ground yesterday. It just didn’t feel right. I knew there would be empty seats everywhere as the club has moved away from the fans since promotion. I attended the players awards night it was a disgrace.

Not disagreeing. But a 3-0 win would have taken a substantial edge off
 
Just caught up on Match of the Day and the commentary weirdly highlighted the empty seats on there as well.

Doug has at least shown he's willing to reverse some of his more unpopular decisions before, so I'm hoping they'll allow ticket forwarding for future games.

Not sure how easy it is via mobile wallets though unless it would be a case of just forwarding the QR code?
 
Needs someone in the media to question him on why we are the only club in the Premier League to not allow this and how, if he insists on keeping this rule, he's going to solve the problem of empty seats.
 
How many in the premier actually align with his view on selling tickets twice?

No doubt Man Utd, Liverpool etc will sell out but if results don't pick up and the ticket restrictions remain in place games like Brentford on a Wednesday night will be embarrassing.

I get your point about the ground appearing sold out and then a few rows appearing from nowhere a few hours later, this happens, however the Hull game no new seats became available after Thursday.

The reason the exchange didn't open was surely down to the late release of digital season tickets and the club not wanting to add to any potential confusion, I am guessing,, but it has to be that.

Brighton has already 'sold out' two weeks out apart from block 5 and whether they decide to release unsold corporate seats. There might be a few other seats for sponsors they release (who knows), but I expect exchange to open in next few days.

I don't buy the idea that we'll suddenly see gates collapse. They have been building over 5 years, it hasn't been sudden - we're not Hull who barely sold out a single game last season, we've been regularly selling our outside of the PL for a while and have a ST waiting list. We'll continue to sell out this season, we only have 5000 seats to sell each game. The issue won't be selling out so much, it'll be people turning up (that was the issue Saturday). They need to sort out the ticket sharing options otherwise we will have games with lots of empty seats.

Not being able to pass your ticket on to family or friends is a complete joke let's be honest. Even from a business point of view surely you want someone in the ground buying shit rather than an empty seat. Ridiculous decision.
 
There is a row of 6+ seats by me empty for the last couple of seasons including Saturday, although they are showing sold on the tickets site.
Annoyingly when I’ve brought friends and familyup we’ve had to move seats as the ticket office won”t sell us seats as showing occupied.

I tried out the burner phone and it worked well. 2nd hand cheap samsung for £70 (security updates until 2029). I have a wallet on there that has the season tickets but nothing else. I added a few football apps (and a link to skyblue talk) and it has a cheap sim in it £1 per month for 1gb and unlimited calls. Could probably sack off the sim for next season as club have improved the wifi and dont think the wallet needs it. I was worried that I might need it for a changing qr code or similar.

I will miss a couple of games for work almost certainly but now my wife can take one of the kids or i could give it to a friend for them to go. Whilst I did have to show the wallet again to get into singers corner I doubt they are looking at the names

Was a bit shit taking two phones but then I could leave the wallet at home as no season tickets in them anymore so could just use my main phone to pay for things.

Apparently this is just what some fans in prem clubs have to do to allow friends family to go in their place. I think more will be doing this next season if nothing sorted in the meantime

Amazing isn't it we lose 2 games and everything is described as shit,the recruitment,tickets kit, players , DK ,the beer.,we've lost our soul. Lots of moaners on here having a melt down. Perhaps some where happy when Sisu were in charge and opposition fans sang " your grounds to big for you"

Not suggesting we're going to be having a row to ourselves again but we've had years of being told that if we get to the promised land it will be sold out every week.

Whether it's technically sold out or not it's not a great look to have a load of empty seats and that will only get worse if results don't pick up. If season ticket sharing is not allowed and the ticket exchange is slow to open you're setting yourself up for a situation where outside the 'big' clubs there will be a noticeable number of empty seats.
 
A monitored system simply has to be implemented - People have lives away from football and it is entirely feasible with it still being school holidays people had other plans on Saturday, to let them leave their seats empty was nonsensical

To stop it from becoming a system for potential touts, I personally think it is fair that you should be allowed 3 transfers a season to a paid member of the club who is in your family and friends network

The empty seats looked ridiculous on Saturday, was one of the first things that Adrian Durham said post game on TalkSport (TS were doing their live coverage from the ground) - has made us look really small time like we couldn’t sell out

He could and should have been asked about all of this on his last CWR appearance but no doubt Lorna just wanted to blow smoke up his arse and waffle the same regurgitated shite about ‘THE sky blue army’

This is it exactly.

When we beat Monaco, the ground and facitlites were looking "superb", we had the best recruitment of the three promoted sides, and Yirenki was getting sold for £100m within two seasons.

Couple of defeats and recruitment is shit, ground is falling apart, and Yirenki needs replacing with Torp.

I am sure Hull tickets were still available on Friday for people with previous purchase history.

What happens if they just buy them in the same stand and go and sit there? Wonder if they are reserved for player's families or something?

I bought mine on Wednesday and there were about 15 tickets left available then, with about half of them being in the West Stand next to the away support, and that area was half empty come the day!
 
Isn't that the area which has been used by TV companies?

Which is ironic from a club with a capacity of 24,982 but only managed an average of 21,400 in their promotion year..
 
Of course, none of this is helped by the fact that football has sold its soul to SKY. The fact that they can move the day and time of games at their whim mean that some people will always have some other commitments at some time of the season.
Work, weddings, funerals, holidays, hospital appointments and surgery etc

There were 350 empty seats in the family zone. Another 500-700 in the same stand. 29.5k would have been about right.

They have the EFL rights too and empty seats were not an issue last season.

There were some at times but of course last year they could be transferred easily. Once an individual purchases that seat as long as they are not contravening club rules by giving it to banned persons or away supporters or selling purely for profit then it should be theirs to pass on to friends and family.
