Not according to the AA and RAC they didn’t. They fell by about 2-3 pence at some establishments then quietly and quickly went up again. The last time there was a significant reduction was when Sunak did it. Every supermarket and all stations owned by the big suppliers did it overnight. Every penny was passed straight to the consumer.
The smaller franchises won’t have done but that isn’t even profiteering it’s because they have already had to secure barrels from depots at the original price but can’t store so they will lag. Dont come back either with some claim a BP garage up the road didn’t pass it on as this won’t be a BP garage it will be a franchise operation with exclusivity of supply but still has to advance purchase.
It's a good job we can create £ at the drop of a hat isn't it. Self financing stateWhy would it have no impact?
We’re just economically boxed in. My hunch is that, even if there wasn’t a huge detrimental impact on tax-take, Gilt prices would increase even further so at that point you’re essentially doubling the loss.

Fuel prices drop by as little as ONE penny per litre despite 5p duty cut
FUEL prices have dropped by as little as a penny per litre despite Rishi Sunak’s 5p duty cut to help hard-pressed drivers. Last month the Chancellor announced a historic 5p cut to fuel duty i…www.thesun.co.uk
Did you know that the word gullible isn’t in the dictionary?
A true man of the people, cheers our Andy
People: f*cking Labour just hand out money.
People: subside my petrol you Labour c*nts!
People seem to be upset that you can easily look up which garage you drive past is going to have the cheapest petrolWhat you moaning about now
how is it subsidising exactly?
Least expensive?People seem to be upset that you can easily look up which garage you drive past is going to have the cheapest petrol
It's a subsidy in the same way petrol prices are something any government can realistically do sweet f*ck all to control i.e. it's not, but I wasn't aiming for absolute accuracy or seriousness in that post, in case that needs explaining.
Well of course they can as the wholesale prices are nothing like the cosy the consumer pays - same as any goods that are taxed

It's thick as fuck behaviour driving out of your way to a petrol station for cheaper fuel. If your tank holds 50 litres, getting it 4p a litre cheaper saves you £2, You'll probably end up spending more driving to the station and back then the actual saving.
Exactly, there's a couple of garages on my way home that would probably add about 60 seconds to my journey but I don't drive past them to see what the price is and even if I did I wouldn't know what the price was at the ones further along the route.Well yeah but if you drive past 3 petrol stations on your way to work or whatever it doesn't hurt to know which one is cheapest

Do it on the return journey?
This feels like splitting hairs or moaning for moanings sake.
It's hardly a controversial flagship policy, it's a tiny change that might help some people
Really?
think everyone has eyes and drives past petrol stations every day and pretty much are the same price or will know which one is the cheapest in the area
Its a shit gimmick which doesn’t help anyone out
since Burnham has come in, what’s he actually done to help the average Joe blogg?
Why are you getting angry about something that doesn't affect you? So it might not help you but it might help some people![]()
This is so GIMOCWho’s getting angry? I find it funny tbh
It’s a pathetic gimmick which doesn’t help anyone. apart from services all petrol pumps are the same price maybe 1-2p cheaper depending on where
And if somewhere is a penny cheaper by the time you’ve drove there you wouldn’t have achieved anything because of the petrol used to get there
People want proper policies coming in. let’s see what the budget brings but for someone who is a man of the people he’s done nothing thus far to help anyone during this cost of living crisis
Maybe introduce more competition again although the pump price is dependent on the brand they're supplying.Who’s getting angry? I find it funny tbh
