Do you want to discuss boring politics? (52 Viewers)

What’s your point exactly?

people with disabilities feel threatened by the legislation? People who know more than me about it as one is in the lords as well I’d guess

there's a lot of safeguards in the bill. It's a poor decision from MPs. Watching a loved one face a slow, inevitable death in a hospital bed—either heavily medicated or them suffering intense mental anguish knowing they are dying often without much dignity—is a form of cruelty we would never tolerate in other areas of life.

It's beyond poor, it's fucking appalling. I don't think I've ever been so upset and angry by the abject failure of a government to bring in something that the vast majority of people want, and that is completely apolitical.

I hope the fuckers in the Lords and elsewhere who scuppered the bill suffer horribly when it comes to their turn to check out. I think I'm finally done with politics and voting. Fuck the lot of them and their bullshit fake morality.

Still not following. Are you still convinced that PIP needs to be eradicated given people with disabilities say they want it to stay?

All I’d have asked is for anyone planning on voting against the bill or intentionally delaying in HoL, to visit a hospice or terminally ill in hospital. If they still felt it was the right call after that, then whilst I disagree, that’s their prerogative. I’d imagine many just voted against on religious or theoretical (worst case scenario) grounds

Anyone voting based on religious grounds should be turfed out immediately.

I still remember my grandad pleading ‘please just let me die already’ in hospital when I was 22. All the morphine in the world couldn’t stop him being in so much pain and it was just heartbreaking.

Nobody chooses to be born, if they want to leave this life early and lack the ability to do it themselves, I’d argue it’s more cruel to deny them that.

Another £36m for Reform yesterday - £72m in one day.

Really sticking it to the establishment!

Remember when Keir Starmer was gifted some glasses. What a dark day for democracy that was. We must never forget.

You joke but this is basically the response that Reform supporters are giving on twitter to anyone who dares to question why these billionaires are giving Farage so much money.

Not impressed but typical of our politicians. They couldn’t find a way to deliver something that’s widely supported by the public 🤷‍♂️

Thought they were there to serve the people, guess not

It is not apolitical it's the thin end of the wedge.

There's obviously a lot of hypocrisy in politics from all sides but this is really up there. Badenoch complainung, and threatening legal action, over cuts to local government funding.
Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch has said she has brought in lawyers to potentially challenge the government over local funding cuts, after a record council tax rise in one of her party's flagship local authorities.

She told BBC Newsnight the proposed 94% hike in Wandsworth, a south-west London borough run by the Tories, was "outrageous" but that "they're not doing it because they want to".

Badenoch said the Conservative Party had "instructed lawyers" to see if an £84m-a-year government funding cut, which Wandsworth Council has blamed for the increase, can be blocked.

The reality is that the CT rate in Wandsworth was very very low. I live in a Band D house and it is £2346.89 for the year in 26/27.

  • Current Band D Rate (2026/27): £1,020.35 [1]
  • Proposed Band D Rate (2027/28): £1,978

There is clearly an argument for completely changing the way local government is funded. I think Labour has done something already (and that's reduced the central government funding to Wandsworth hence the rise) but it needs to go a lot further imo.

It is low my band E is £3,000 - I don’t see why Labour have granted an exemption allowing such an increase

🤣🤣🤣

What're these cunts on?

Not entirely sure this is a way out there idea. It's something that already exists in other European counties.

Given that reports have said that the update to the war book, due to be completed by the end of the year, will state there are major resourcing gaps is it not an issue that needs to be addressed?

We already have a register where you can volunteer to go to war. You can sign it in any Armed Careers Office around the country.

You think people will voluntarily sign up to die for a country that is fucking them over left, right and centre?

The army rejected 74,000 applicants in the last financial year
