Very difficult paradox to find a player who was the difference in getting us up to the PL looks a level below in it. I’m not sure he can cut through teams and his set pieces are really really bad. Hard to drop when captain, but he’s a real problem now.

Not sure about this.

I think parachuting the new signings in from day 1 is an issue to a certain extent. They've all earned their chance, no idea how Saka is behind Loam

This is the issue with fan favourites, Sakamoto was shocking and at fault for their goal.

People were shitting it about JDS but he looks levels above MVE in the Premier League.

And Torp as well. He didn’t dispatch the cross properly which started it all off…

Think if you take sentiment and recent history out of the equation the decision to remove Yirkenkyi over Grimes would appear confusing.

150000%

He was never going to be good enough at this level. Not athletic enough. Love the guy and he was superb in the Championship but really should get him gone and replace with an experienced PL CM.

Hes fucking awfull at this level.

Hes everything you dont want at this level.

Not a mystery, every player has a level. Doesn't devalue what he has done for us but things move on

Lost count of the times Grimes had the ball the edge of the box and just took the easy option of passing sideways or backwards.
Hmer in that positions puts it top corner or plays a defence splitting pass. Drop Grimes and play Hamer in the centre

He’s not good enough for this level unfortunately. Class act in Championship.

If we don’t replace him with an experienced top flight operator we are buggered.
He woukdnt be class act in the championship anymore , time is catching up with him. We carried him at times last season with an incredible goal scoring team around him.

The worrying thing for me today was we just looked so one dimensional again relying on grimes to dictate things, which 1. Slows everything down and 2. Means we lose a man in midfield as he’s effectively playing as a deep DM.

You can get away with it in the championship but against better teams Grimes isn’t going to have the time on the ball like he did today.

We’re 2 games in, I don’t want to say it was a must win but it really was. We’re now 6 points behind them. We have Man City away next and they have Villa at home. Way things are we could be 9 behind after 3.

I’d like to thing we’re going to improve but it’s worrying how many little mistakes we’re making in games, miss hit back passes to Rushworth, so open on the counter.

Sentiment has no place if we want to stay up. Otherwise, we’re goners. Strangely Hull have done a better job adapting to the PL than us. Think it’s a combination of players not adapting to the step up as well as Frank’s game plans not working for this level.

Grimes has struggled so far but probably wrong formation today and against Arsenal.

Agree with this. The only thing I would add is being above Hull isn’t our aim. Being above three teams is, which would require a miracle now.

Of course but before a ball was kicked Hull were tipped to finish rock bottom, it’s very disrespectful but on paper and on the basis of last season it figures.

We’re staring at a possibility of being on 0 points after 5 games. Not fun this PL stuff!

Totally agree. JDS has adapted well and looks more than capable of cutting in the PL.

Grimes was poor today.

What crumbs of hope do u see that majes u think we will stay up??

I'll reserve any judgement on how I think the season will pan out until we've played more than 2 games, 1 of which was away to the reigning PL champions

People need to ease off on Grimes and Torp. Grimes wasn’t that bad and Torp only had a few minutes. It’s not a day for finger pointing but I hope Frank doesn’t still think that BTA is going to be anything other than a cheer leader this season because he’s utterly useless. He spends more time making friends with the opponents defenders than trying to beat them .

2 games in and it requires a miracle.

A handful of teams have started as shit as us, if we pick up and they don’t we’re out of the bottom 3. Hardly a miracle.

Ummm… I think you may have missed the context of who were up against and how we have performed. Of course we could also win the rest of our games and win the league.
