Yearly Bedwetting thread

There’s a small amount of piss on my sheets, but that will quite quickly turn to semen if Rushworth is confirmed and we sign a fat centre mid.

So we’re signing David Seaman in time for Arsenal? Epic times

Theres no excuses now tbh. Its August. We've signed 2 new players. We've been promoted since April, you'd have thought we would have had at least 2 ready to drop the second the window opened

We've all done our bit paying double or triple for season tickets, buying the kits in record numbers at a higher price, paying for memberships, could go on

The club now need to show some balls at getting in players to have a real tilt at staying up. As it stands we are down with a whimper

Not happening is it? We’ve set a wage cap at almost half the average wage of the division and King has been bollocksing on about how we don’t need to spend since the second we got promoted. He clearly thinks he can do it on the cheap. And maybe with a scouting network that doesn’t think data is the guy from Star Trek we could but not with someone who’s entire process is looking in his mobile and checking the Championship teams’ PotS award listings.

Hope I look stupid and we sign a load in the next fortnight who look the part and stay up but right now all the evidence points the other way and “wait and see” is looking more delusional by the minute.

Does everyone remember Doug going on the podcast after we were promoted and they were questioning him on how quickly he was going to start preparing for the Premier League. And he said ‘we are going to enjoy this for a few weeks first’ and ‘we will do it the Cov way’

He’s either a genius with everything in hand or completely naive about how hard a premier league transfer window is

Also, what is the Cov way? Becuase as much as like Hamer, that isn’t the Cov way to me

Cov way is not spending his money

Remember when people questioned that and the usual suspects in here were all “of course we’ve got signings lined up, he obviously doesn’t mean what he says”?

A bit of perspective is needed. If it were the 1st September moan away, it's the 1st August. We've spent circa £45 million on 3 players and Amenda looks a real coup.

By all accounts Rushworth is done and Hamer not far away. I wasn't sure about Hamer but his numbers were excellent in a bang average team, Shef U fans are genuinely gutted he's leaving and we know his quality. If one of the best PL midfielders ever is happy I am.

There's also a backlog from the World Cup and it looks like we are after genuine quality and trying to maximise our budget. I'd much rather this approach than Ipswich who have seemingly learnt nothing from 2 years ago.

The same people have questioned Doug repeatedly and been made to look stupid repeatedly. He's earned our trust so try and relax and enjoy it.

I found myself pulling the handbrake on and not being a party pooper when he said that, but it did raise an eyebrow. It's the most important transfer window we've had for a very long time so the more time and preparation the better. I'm coming back to it now and thinking my gut was right.

I'm still not pissing the sheets though, let's be clear. There is time and I wouldn't be surprised on a few signings that will pleasantly shock all of us. That said, we need to get on with it. I'm sick of saying it, but our squad as much as it was great last season, is going to struggle.

I wonder if we are struggling this summer as we have lost Dr Claire?

As it stands taking off the rose coloured glasses we are straight back down. I wouldn’t be surprised if the window continues like this if there isn’t some fall out between King & Lampard. Surely he wouldn’t have agreed to stay without backing.
At the minimum we need LB, CB, CM, LW, ST and I’d probably say an AM as well.

I’m getting to the stage where re-signing Jamie Allen would be considered a coup.

I always thought we would bring in about seven. I do wonder if we are finding it harder to attract players than we thought. I am concerned we are starting to be linked with players at Swansea and Stoke.

However, the window has generally been slow for Premier League clubs. Players and agents need to start making decisions over the next few weeks. We are also approaching the time when clubs want to loan players out who have slipped down the pecking order. Aside from Rushworth, there is still time to bring in two permanent and two season long loans.

I really think Doug has pulled the wool over fan eyes and will limit his spend this window and try and sell us in September.
I don’t know why you would think that is a logical time to sell? Also selling a club doesn’t happen overnight.

I've always been more concerned with the "they've earned their chance to play in the premier league" comment.

Starting to feel Doug should've gutted and replaced the recruitment team the second we were promoted.

Also, as much as we feel CCFC are a massive club, I really doubt we have much pull given our lack of finances compared to other clubs and the fact that our training ground is small fry for what out targets are used to.

The ambition is there just those players don't want to come to us.

As we've moved up the leagues we've been happy to get rid of players who played a big part in promotion, who were fan favourites and considered to be key parts of the squads chemistry.

People didn't always like it but it meant that year on year we improved.

Not sure changing that plan and giving everyone a chance is the way to go. Last year was incredible but the step up is huge. Its a big ask to bring in a small number of players and hope thats enough.

But we were never likely to go crazy, people have been talking about buying 10+ Premier League players which always seem wildly optimistic.

But you can’t get rid of players until you have brought the new players in. We have very much operated on a senior squad of 25 ( sometimes less), we don’t have loads of talented under 21’s to fall back on.

Obviously I was hoping we'd get some deals done quick as we knew we were up a lot early than others. That didn't happen, but I was content that the WC may put a hold on a lot of things as players concentrate on that or hope that a good tournament will get them better offers. Now it's at the stage of thinking 'well, I guess players will wait until the last minute to see if the get a better offer than us because we're being ambitious in who we're trying to get, and we've got other options if they don't come'. We've still got a few weeks to get players in so it's not the end of the world but everyday I can my bladder getting that little bit fuller...

Most worrying thing is the players we were getting linked to before and the ones that we've got more recently. Gone from the likes of Tomori and RLC to Vipotnik and Hamer. Again, I'm convincing myself that this is just agent talk trying to get a better deal for their clients elsewhere. But there is that ever louder nagging voice swarning about what Doug has said form the start and that he's probably setting the salary cap and way lower than he realised PL players get, and now he's realised the best we can get with that are the best Championship players. And if you buy the best Championship players you end up with a very good Championship team on over-inflated wages.

As I say there's still time so I'm not getting the Pampers out just yet, but it is getting more than a little frustrating.

Brentford doing business, nearly £40 M for a Mali international, see if we can do the same with Dennis @22?

It strikes me as the ‘Norwich way’ if anything. Sign a moderate amount, get comfortably relegated then yo yo for a bit.

It's frustrating but whether we sign 5 players or 15 players we'll likely go down on sub 30 points regardless. Better to go down with a manageable wage bill than do what Leicester did.

go down without giving it a go

what a fucking cowards move

Are there any sites which provide a graphical representation of the number of premier league transfers in/out per day in the window.

Obviously you could count up the numbers on the BBC transfers page but I am not quite as nerdy and obesseive as that!

I'm not advocating it. I'd love it if Doug was a billionaire and bankrolled us Sunderland style but unfortunately most teams that go up, come straight back down.

Why sign anyone at all then? Just take the hit.
