And so it seems to ring true

Im not talking the players on the pitch, that's been done to death. We're shite it is what it is

But the whole experience is just arse. Poor atmospheres home and away (bar Forest), sanitised corporate shite, VAR, the over analysis of anything and everything, the slow boring tippy tappy pep style build up everyone seems to deploy, pre game build up is a total yawnathon, barely any of the of the 'anyone can beat anyone' feel of the championship. Dont get me started on how we seem to have binned our badge and PUSB off for an AI elephant and COV COV COV

Just find it a bit soul destroying now we are here. 25 years we spent in the doldrums, trying to get back to the end of the rainbow, and whilst there is a pot of gold, you also seemingly have to sell your soul to be there. We've seen it all, the drop from the top to the bottom and back again. Aside from a cup win or Europe theres literally no more to see is there?

Said it on another thread, that game for us yesterday, in that weather in the championship, there would be tackles flying in, 30 yard strikes, red cards, goals, loud atmosphere, the lot. Am I wrong as a supporter for missing that? Anyone else feeling that way?

Thought the Newcastle game was brilliant, game and atmosphere, crowd can only react to what’s on the pitch…that was just 2 very poor teams yesterday, problem we’ve got is we had players on the bench who improve that starting 11 but we just keep sticking with the same players, it looks like the only way we’ll win games is when the other team have bad games and not by us playing well, we should have got at them from the start, we just let them have the ball..

It’s difficult isn’t it. I think in all honesty this is due less to the prem as a whole but actually how depressing it is watching your team lose with a whimper like yesterday.

Atmosphere and everything else feeds on the players performance and when it is shite, everything else is.

Forest away and Newcastle at home were some of the best moments I’ve had following us (first time I’ve seen us in the prem).

Hard to argue with a lot of that. After last season I was incredibly proud (and still am), but when anyone asked how it felt to be back or how we would do this year, I kept waiting for the excitement to come, but it never really arrived in the way I expected.

The gaps between the bloody games in a 38 games season are killing me and definitely causing a few overreactions on here when we turn in a flat performance.

There is still plenty of time, nightmare run in aside, to get a feel good feeling around the place again before next season, whatever league we are in.

PUSB COV COV COV

It all comes down to results on the pitch really.

If you're winning games you don't care/notice/remember if the atmosphere was poor or you had a crap pint or COV is plastered everywhere.

All that stuff is irrelevant when we're winning. Everything is just better when you're winning games of football, that's all it comes down to.

Carling and/or caffreys being the options for a half time pint is poor though

But completely agree

To use an old joke the match experience is terrible and such small portions! Would all be worth it if we got to Europe tho. And it’s seemingly quite common for crap PL teams. I wouldn’t be sad to be back in the champ tho. More exciting football and basically and extra game each month is alright.

The atmosphere yesterday was terrible

I don’t really get it. I think there’s been missed opportunities over the summer from the club, some mistakes on ticketing etc. but given no new STs we’re sold 80-90% of the home fans are the same people that were there last season yet they seem to be sitting on their hands, expecting us to blow teams away like we did in the champ and as soon as it’s not looking good the moans and groans start.

1-0 down at home with 5 mins to go you need the crowd to give some energy and there was nothing.

It’s hard to give some energy when we had a back 7 and just lumping aimless balls up front…tats had the left back in his pocket but we hardly got the ball to him apart from when grimes lumped it up to him and to be fair he won most headers, but give it to him on the floor…we have to show the same fight we did against forest and Newcastle…when we don’t you get results like that….

The crowd always has and always will follow what’s on the pitch.

It’s just the disappointing of losing yesterday. It was awful and everyone is bitterly disappointed. Mainly by the manner of defeat…. Fulham were garbage and we never had a go. Total balls up really. And play like that again and we are going down.

Just hope we learn and fast and change 3-4 players next game. And have a go…. We lost anyway. We could do a lot more and that’s the disappointment. Their keeper barely made a save to a team who haven’t won in 8 away.

Forest and Newcastle were excellent and it just won’t be like the champ season. We will lose a lot of games. We just need enough to stay up. Keep the faith …. For now

Even when we lost last season the match day atmosphere was much better

Maybe it's because we went into each game anticipating a win, but I do think the DJ change has made a difference and does nothing to help get pulses pumping

I agree but there was nothing even from the start- after winning our last home game 4-1 you’d expect that at least.

No because it was cold and wet and we’d just lost our last game and the team never got going. As Lampard has repeatedly said himself it’s on the players to give the crowd something to cheer.

Ultimately we have to aim to be in the PL. I don’t really think the matchday atmosphere is a lot different. It’s just not boosted by us winning games with lots of goals. Newcastle, for instance, was fine. It’s such a challenge that points in the prem do feel more special but it’s inevitable there just won’t be as many. Maybe I’m easily pleased but I enjoy any game we play in reality.

Lol what nonsense. Newcastle game was a great night that stood out compared to previous seasons

Anyone saying they can't wait to be back in championship is saying they can't wait for us to get relegated. That is no cov fan imo

Maybe they are more interested in watching their team in a league where they can compete than football tourism

The atmosphere at a lot of games last was poor, including away from home.

Its not the league we left in 2001 for sure

Maybe some fans are more interested in seeing their club be as successful as possible. I mean who the fuck supports a team just so they can enjoy the match day atmosphere more loool and yet you talk about tourism.

17th in prem is better than 1st in championship

The crowd always has and always will follow what’s on the pitch.

I think it’s a two way thing. Team didn’t give fans much to work off yesterday but also fans can’t then complain about lack of energy when they gave fuck all themselves. Weather didn’t help but crowd was pretty pathetic yesterday

Feels like we’ve turned into a sing when we’re winning team over the last couple of years

Don't disagree. It's clearly not a premier league thing though

Because of those 80-90%, 50% are fairweather fans that have only turned up since the good times. And now the times dont seem so good, its not so rosey, theyre questioning their decision to pay through the nose for a ST.

This is a problem across the Premier League. Forest fans are echoing this in their fifth season in PL!

Winning regularly breeds the feel good factor, whatever league we are in. Last season was superb because we finally had a team that was better than any other in the league and we built momentum on the pitch and in the stands.

Nothing we achieve in the Prem will top that night we clinched the title vs Portsmouth. Turning up knowing we would put a show on, batter them and have that euphoric moment.

We won’t ever top that. Being in this league will always be about staying up and that’s all. We will always lose more than we win and the sooner we accept that as the baseline we can move on.

The win over Newcastle was superb and the atmosphere matched it.

What I find the most depressing factor about being in this league is the endless over analysis on Sky and social media and the endless stream of social media twats.

The gap between games drives this over analysis. In the Championship that defeat yesterday can easily be moved on from with a Tuesday night win. In the PL we spend a week fretting over how the Sunderland game will go now.

It doesn’t look good. Two home games I’d earmarked for six points have delivered nothing. Recruitment looks poor at this point and wholesale changes are needed. Sunderland set the benchmark for me last season but Frank’s loyalty to the promotion squad is not going to work but on the other hand I don’t see great proven PL quality in what we have signed (Pinnock aside).

Onwards and upwards !!

The only good thing about the PL is the financial windfall hopefully has secured our long term future, provided that we don't lose money on who we have signed. The only PL games I have watched are our games. I chose to watch up to 3 championship games per week instead.
We are just not good enough for the PL and tbh it is a snooze fest

Sunderland set the benchmark? They were able to spend more than us and if you look at previous seasons, the vast majority of promoted teams go down, yet an anomaly is now the benchmark. 😂😂

Sorry, but I really enjoyed visiting the Etihad and the Tottenham stadium recently, even in defeat and Im looking forward to the Hill Dickinson in a couple of weeks.

If its back to the Britannia and Bramall lane next season then so be it but its been a breath of fresh air visiting the PL stadiums
