We were all told the journey is better than the destination....

Because of those 80-90%, 50% are fairweather fans that have only turned up since the good times. And now the times dont seem so good, its not so rosey, theyre questioning their decision to pay through the nose for a ST.

I bet the attendance last time we played Fulham at home was sub 18k, and that would have been a good gate!

Edit: it was 18,497

Do you really think Thomas,. Rundoni etc will stay if we go down as I don't and they will have suiters
I said earlier that Rudoni and Thomas would likely be sold. It’s hardly stripping the squad though.

The atmosphere home, but particularly away, has been getting steadily worse for a few seasons now, almost in inverse proportion to the attendances. Some exceptions but that’s the trend line. At home, this year has been made worse by some pretty mediocre away followings too, noise wise. I thought Newcastle were particularly bad.

The team is what it is, I fully expected to struggle. What I didn’t count on was the shockingly poor recruitment. With the exception of Pinnock and/or Amenda, it’s hard to see how any of the signings have actually improved us. A couple seem to have potential, though difficult to grasp £20m plus price tags.

There is always talk of different strategies for newly promoted sides. In hindsight, we’d have been better off picking up half a dozen or so top Championship players for half the amount spent. They’d have improved the side and even though we’d possibly still go down, we’d be much better placed for next season.

Don’t think too many of the new signings will be up for a fight in the Championship and I can see quite a few where we’ll lose money. Bobby and Rudoni will likely get picked up PL teams too.

That said, I will enjoy the rest of the season. After all, it’s the hope that’s hard to cope with

And so it seems to ring true

Im not talking the players on the pitch, that's been done to death. We're shite it is what it is

But the whole experience is just arse. Poor atmospheres home and away (bar Forest), sanitised corporate shite, VAR, the over analysis of anything and everything, the slow boring tippy tappy pep style build up everyone seems to deploy, pre game build up is a total yawnathon, barely any of the of the 'anyone can beat anyone' feel of the championship. Dont get me started on how we seem to have binned our badge and PUSB off for an AI elephant and COV COV COV

Just find it a bit soul destroying now we are here. 25 years we spent in the doldrums, trying to get back to the end of the rainbow, and whilst there is a pot of gold, you also seemingly have to sell your soul to be there. We've seen it all, the drop from the top to the bottom and back again. Aside from a cup win or Europe theres literally no more to see is there?

Said it on another thread, that game for us yesterday, in that weather in the championship, there would be tackles flying in, 30 yard strikes, red cards, goals, loud atmosphere, the lot. Am I wrong as a supporter for missing that? Anyone else feeling that way?
There’s certainly elements of this i agree with, but others ring of “man hates change”.

The atmosphere yesterday was absolutely awful, but fully believe that comes from shit weather, shit game, shit performance. There was barely any attacking play to get excited about and only 1/2 players that tried to inject some passion into their play.

I firmly believe the digital ticketing (and restrictions/hassle around sharing) has been a complete disaster that see’s us try to claim a 31,000+ attendance that simply wasnt there. Quite frankly i think doug (and by that i mean the club not him personally) have tried too hard to cash in on the lure of the premier league by forcing resale of tickets etc, instead they should have kept the processes in place as they were and focused on keeping the momentum we had. The matchday experience is worse than last year, bigger queues (but not bigger attendances) worse pre and post atmosphere and a scoreboard that shows the game on a 3 second delay instead of anything useful.

This season in the premier league for us, home matches should be electric atmospheres, we’re either massive underdogs who should be fighting tooth and nail to get “something” or in relegation 6 pointers against the teams around us. I’ve not seen or felt any of that so far. We paid way too much respect to the sides that have come here and not shown anything on the pitch that have driven an atmosphere from the crowd.

Something has to change on the pitch because it wont start in the stands now, we’re too far in

Supported since the 1960's too ill to go now but we can still pull together if the team looks like it's giving their all. One of the best days out was our win at Spurs that keep us up that season what team spirit! That is currently what seems to be lacking.

That Spurs game was great, but the reason that game had such importance was because we had many Fulham type performances earlier in that season. If we end up this season winning a big game late in the season to stay up, then that will be remembered, just like that season's Spurs game, and not the poor performances before them.

This place would be in pieces if we were in that situation again.

In that case we should aim to be back in League 2. It’s cheaper, grounds have a lot of character, pyro and mini pitch invasions after every goal - happy days!

If you like. I was thinking Championship

I did warn people that Premier League wouldn’t be all it is cracked up to be and that the Championship was a good place to watch football. I was told I lacked ambition.

At the moment I’m just rolling along one game at a time. If we stay up we stay up, if we go down we go down. At least there is a football team to watch, which a few years back looked to be in jeopardy. We still need to be careful how we spend our money and I don’t want us being too financially cavalier to just to stay up.

Totally agree. Let's get back in to the Sing along songs like "Country Roads", build up the atmosphere & noise.
Noticed yesterday there was even a PR statement about the pre match entertainment including loud bangs & pyrotechnics.
Corporate is not always better. Getting rid of the local entertainment guys has been a disaster.
That American style tosh announcing the players was ridiculous. It was like a boxing match intro.

We obviously need to be in the top league. But saying its more enjoyable in the lower leagues can still be true

As i said initially, what else is there to do now aside from a cup win? We've basically done it all.

You're not a fortune teller though - we've not done it all at all,in that case, people may as well just give up going to matches then because they know what their clubs ceiling is & what their limitations are

Before we descend into a ridiculous level of depression and self loathing, just a reminder that on our return to the championship we were on 5 points with a minus 10 goal difference after 8 games.

I’m pretty sure Lampard will be reflecting on what he needs to do to get us going and a win next Saturday would have us roughly on track for survival.

It was never going to be a particular enjoyable or aesthetically pleasing season.

If we can't win at home to the Blunder boys we really are in trouble. Look like they've been found out somewhat, wouldn't be a surprise to see them very close to the bottom come season end. I'd just like us to try and win honestly and ditch the passive shite.

Bang on.

I never said otherwise. Yesterday wasn’t particularly enjoyable and I would like to see some self reflection and a change of plan next week.

I'm fed up of the score board. Rarely are the teams up. Who scored? who is on a yellow? What's their number 7 called? Then we have subs. Either home or away team. Other than the crap tannoy, you have zero idea who is on or off. Just put up the team sheets, update it and leave it on.

Stop the adverts for the third kit now on sale.. the next game is... we all know that. We're at the game! We support the team.

Against Fulham when Bobby went off they just left his photo up for a few minutes.
Cov had a shot in the first half. And GOALLLL kept flashing up.

There is advertising all round the ground. Leave the scoreboard for the fans please.

The whole reason they have WLADITT is due to them playing it before a game in previous years and noticed the fans singing to it and then someone had the idea of putting before kick off and now the club runs with and goes over the top. Let someone who knows the club play the songs

The problem is, "apparently" the people running the scoreboard aren't at the game. They all work from a Central Control Centre, so that is why there are often delays updating anything. Also they have "no attachment" to the City, it is just a "job" to them unlike the guys who have done it previously.

The scoreboard didn't even have Rudoni listed in the starting line up at the start of the game. Onyeka was there instead.

The game being shown a couple of seconds behind on the screen is also really distracting.

Fireworks are irritating me...and I cant explain why!! Line up on the scoreboard was wrong ...sometimes its just the small stuff. As people have said, if hte team is playing well and getting the results we most fans dont care about the small stuff.

Pre-match has completely bottomed out. Why would you get rid of that montage video?

Used to be, you heard mr blue sky around 14.50 and you knew shit was about to get real.
Mr Blue Sky is a Birmingham City song performed by a band made up of Birmingham City fans - embarrassing it was ever played at CCFC games to begin with

Do people genuinely give a fuck about this sort of thing? Such a trivial thing to get wound up about - I am more concerned with how toothless we looked going forward on Saturday

Maybe they are more interested in watching their team in a league where they can compete than football tourism
Waited 25 years and 8 games in we have fans saying this 😂😂

We will never repeat what we watch last season.I for one wasn't fussed about being in the premier league as winning games is few and far between unless you get tactics right and then its all about quality. We can't really afford to buy real good quality players but we have spent and not seeing these players even get a sniff is a problem. But you have to try to get to the promised land or there is no point in teams playing. It certainly is a hard watch and will probably go down its after we go down that could really cause the destruction of Coventry City and what has been built over the last few years.

Might feel different at the end of the season, but I'm still loving being in the Premier League at the moment.
Been even tougher than I was expecting so far, but plenty of games left and it's nice having new teams and fixtures to keep an eye on.
Not in a massive rush to get back to Carrow Road and Bramall Lane just yet.

I clearly do. As part of my match experience, I want to see who is on a yellow, who has been subbed on and off and other info i could see last season.
I won't reply to you again if you quote me with that language though. We're all supporting the same team thank you.

Can't you see these things with your eyes?

I dont always remember who has been yellow carded. I dont know all the away players by their shirt numbers. At times I don't see exactly who scores for the away teams.
I don't remember how many subs have been made and some times I like to know how many subs we and then have left.

To be fair, back in 2024 I met a few Southampton fans who said the Prem is shit and we’ll get bored of it. A prescient warning for the Cov and Ipswich fans present.

Any league is a bit shit when you’re struggling to stay up year on year and the best you can hope for is a mid-table mediocrity.

I’ll enjoy the PL tour and hopefully we stay up another year at least.

And to add my two penis, when the teams came out the guy making the announcements, announces the team but not the subs, I mean what the f***
