I was thinking about the train - £22 return for 3 from Leamington is decent, but need to try it on a non-matchday first. A bit concerned that with only 2 carriages it will be rammed and dad won't get a seat. They need to extend the platform before they can add more carriages.

I rarely use the train, but when I have Ive always found it fine getting to the game, bag of shite getting back, and more often than not just got an uber or a taxi

Seriously only £95 a season in C? I never knew that and thought they were all the same. I'm right in thinking C is just the other side of the overpass?

Ah ok, that's more in line with what I expected. At £15 per game + fuel and the hassle of driving / parking I am tempted with the train. Might give it a trial run for the Espanyol game (if they allow me to buy any tickets )

Assume the ones closer to the finish are rammed, but perhaps later ones back at eg 6.50pm after a 3pm kick off would be ok?

That is a benefit as again I assumed because you can't go left that you'd be in a queue with others who do and still stuck for ages

I think if you're prepared to hang around then its ok. But as I said, Ive not used them too often.

Sod off Rob, I'm doing the train for Espanyol !!! You departing from Leamington? It's a straightforward run getting there, but as others have said, the return journey can be a ballache. Platform crammed (both sets of fans) The train back ends at Cov, and then you have to jump on a train to Leamington (and it's sometimes delayed etc etc). Not something I'd recommend for your dad on a regular match day.

As I have to collect him from Warwick, I'm actually thinking of going from Kenilworth instead - less than half the price on a group save at £9.45 instead of £22 and easier parking. I assume it will be rammed already by then and less likely to get a seat, but equally only 15minutes to the ground and back so less time standing.

I assume it will be rammed already by then and less likely to get a seat, but equally only 15minutes to the ground and back so less time standing.

The train is usually pretty empty by the time it reaches Kenilworth. I'm not sure if it will be busier as a result of playing some London clubs travelling up via Marylebone? I know some go direct from Euston(?) to Cov.

I'm sure they extended it a few years back at the same time as Bedworth. The problem seems to be the lack of rolling stock is what I'm led to believe

AIUI the issue is lack of a bay platform at Coventry which has been planned and cancelled on cost grounds a few times and is now part of the Coventry to Leicester and Nottingham project stuff which afaict is still waiting for govt approval.

Ok if there's one of you. We were thinking of driving to a place then bus in to take the hassle out. Might have paid a fiver but for three of us £10 is too much. If anyone has any other options, please post on here.

Depends where you're coming from. The Engine in Kenilworth runs 2/3 buses. Used to be a fiver but that was a while ago.

Haven't used Ted's buses recently but it was £10 up from £8 when I did a few years ago in some awful winter weather.

Wait 45 mins after game- straight out

Obviously waiting is easier now the bars etc are open after the game but that’s not much fun if you are the one driving
