Transfer Rumour Summer Transfer Window 2026 (8 Viewers)

and he's suffered a 'threatening injury' one week ago which is likely ruling him out of the WC

"On January 16, 2025, Tolkin transferred to Bundesliga club Holstein Kiel for a transfer fee of $3 million including a sell on fee.[22] A day after the signing, due to outcry from some fans, the club released a statement in which Tolkin distanced himself again from his controversial social media likes, maintaining they are incompatible with his personal values and that he respects all people.[23] Tolkin had previously liked social media posts mocking the LGBTQ community, critical of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic, questioning the existence of gravity and the January 6 United States Capitol attack and supporting flat Earth beliefs.[24][25] Tolkin had also previously apologized for the behavior in a CBS Golazo interview during the 2024 Olympic games.[26]"

People just never learn from the past. The one thing I am certain of is King will not risk the future stability of the club. He's as much as said that he doesn't have the money anyway!

"We'll do it our way." Which means fairly conservatively and certainly on a lower wage bill, primarily with young players who want to improve and those we already have.

Mmmmm

Not a rumour, but just watching WBA v Ipswich and wondering if Nat Phillips would be a worthwhile signing? He’s played PL football before, very good defensive stats (below) and still an ok age profile. Obviously stats don’t tell you about positioning, etc so unsure on that, but just as a reliable 3rd option?

People thinking we will not spend more than 50 million are morons. I’m glad Doug and Frank have ambition unlike @Speedie's Head

Whatever they plan to spend it will be within a strict budget I think set by Doug King.

Phillips has always been a good defender. His issue is he isn't any good on the ball. He wouldn't succeed in the prem based on his technical qualities, can't afford to be giving the ball away cheaply next year. Think there are better out there

wtaf? The more I think about it we won't spend £50m net.

The lowest wage bill in the PL was Wolves on £65m in 2025-6 and I don't see us spending much less. Together with £50m potential investment we'd be in for a lot of money £115m or so. There's my thinking...
