Israel - Palestinian Conflict (3 Viewers)

The systematic demolition of the entire Gaza strip. The genocide of the people that live there. The attacks on civilians in the West Bank, the Lebanon and Iran. A horrible fucking entity supported by horrible people.

It isn’t genocide obviously. It’s industrial warfare conducted in an urban environment but with no restraints whatsoever. That’s still illegal but not genocide.

2 dead terrorists…..

Not really, no.

Twitter hasn’t changed.

“freedom of speech with no responsibility“ is just said when one side doesn’t like what the other side posts
Nope I have no skin in this game
The tweet is as abhorrent as anything anyone has posted ever

Why “obviously“?

An urban environment i.e. civilian populated with no restraints on the method or scale of death and destruction.

It's genocide you utter cretin.

Definition of genocide

Section 1091 of Title 18, United States Code, prohibits genocide whether committed in time of peace or time of war. Genocide is defined in § 1091 and includes violent attacks with the specific intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.

Sounds like it is ok to destroy part of a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group as long as you didn’t intend to. By accident I suppose. Israel quite clearly intends to destroy part of a national etc. group and is going about it without a concern for collateral damage,

Without neutral policing any buffer zone is only ever going to be a temporary mild impediment to in. Invasion or special miltitary operation.
The Americans will just let them do what they like irrespective of the collateral damage. 😞

Shocking news, nobody could have seen this coming
Shocked Futurama GIF

did you actually read that? Or just cut and paste ;)

Thanks for reinforcing my point

I very much doubt it.

Islamists are still dedicated to the destruction of Israel.

Hezbollah are supposed to retreat to North of the Litani River - which they were supposed to have done anyway under the 2006 agreement - enforceable by UN forces, which they failed to do. Major positive has been the degradation of Hezbollah, depending on how the new Syrian regime works out. Not optimistic. Still hoping developments in Lebanon - new PM etc will prove to be a good news story.

Phased withdrawal from Gaza strip. I would be surprised if Hamas don't step up their rocket attacks as soon as they can - again prioritising their ideologue above their fellow Arabs.

Hostage exchange at a ratio of 10:1 - why? Civilians no problem, but Israel has released known killers before with disastrous consequences.

Details are still sketchy, but I'm not optimistic.

How many agreements have Israel broken over the years? Settlements etc.

Israeli settlements in the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, as well as in the Syrian Golan Heights, are illegal under international law. These settlements are in violation of Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention, and in breach of international declarations. There are 144 such settlements.

You sound disappointed the killing may stop. The 10:1 ratio is very simple, its based on the sheer volume of people Israel has imprisoned.

@shmmeee . I had a nice warm moist cinnamon and fruit bagel this morning and it reminded me of the brief exchange we had a couple of days ago in relation to free breakfasts. You said that in your daughter’s case it consisted of a cold, dty bagel which she never wanted.

I can’t imagine you or your household sending a child to school unfed. Does your daughter dutifully eat her bagel or does it get discarded? If she does eat it and has already had a breakfast is that a good thing or a bad thing? If she doesn’t eat it and it gets thrown away, isn’t that not only a waste of taxpayers money and the production and transportation of the bagel an unnecessary addition to the carbon footprint? Remedies will, no doubt, be at least in part at taxpayers expense.

Just as there is said to be no such thing as a free lunch, neither is there a free breakfast. If additional funding was required to provide a proper breakfast, would a parental contribution recognising that the state has taken over that element of good parenting be such a bad idea?
Are you in the wrong thread or are you suggested we gather up all the uneaten bagels and send them to Palestine?

We're through the looking glass.

Labour scared to say a word against Brexit while the Conservatives are now saying it was a mistake.

Whilst what she has to say is very interesting, it is in reality a very thinly veiled attack on Starmer and Reeves lack of preparation whilst in opposition ( which Is exactly how I feel) rather than a mea culpa!

isn’t this the wrong thread for this, as was the one of mine you queried?

Israeli cabinet meeting to approve the ceasefire has been delayed by Netanyahu. Hopefully nothing to read into that and there's not going to be a u-turn

Don’t trust him, either. The Americans need to apply some pressure on him, but won’t for domestic consumption.
