In a two-up-top formation maybe not. McNulty thrived with Biamou and I think Godden may be another. Let a strike partner do the donkey work, let him concentrate on scoring,

Hiwula and Godden have played together most games this season and despite the chances haven't scored as many as they should. So if your problem is scoring goals surely the illogical thing to do is endlessly play the two players who are missing most of the chances. Maybe they're complacent about their place in the team and perhaps a shake up will stop them being quite so wasteful?

Godden isn't as mobile as McNulty.

Thank god some of you lot aren't in charge, the answer to missed chances from completely dominating the game is to change formation
Dominating a game with pretty football is one thing being effective & winning is another Godden has been isolated since he come pretty much in the 433.We don’t have a right winger/inside forward fit & Hiwula is not doing it from the left 4321 allows O’Hare freedom behind a front 2 of Godden Hiwula/Biamou

I find your love for Biamou a bit odd, he's not fit enough and completely unproven, Godden isn't a player to work alongside a target man either by the look of it, he is the target man.

What’s the alternative ? Baka or Hiwula ? Max when played with McNulty worked well with sparky stating he enjoyed playing alongside max.433 we don’t have the inside forwards/wingers at the club good enough for me My view that hasn’t changed since pre season, either bring in 2 proper players or change it 4321 keeping the 3 midfielders & give O’Hare freedom.

Last season Peterborough played 41212 with Godden upfront with a partner when he played scoring 18 goals according to wiki.

Can't see the cautious Robins going two up front away from home.
But it will be another defeat unless Robins changes something.

Got more chance of getting shit out of a rocking horse then us going 2 upfront even when we are Behind we bring strikers on as wingers lol

I watched them both in the under 23’s the other week Max looked a clear level above Baka was his usual self we are used to seeing bullied by young kids at the back.

I’ve got no problem with 433 with the right wide players we don’t have them we are not scoring enough hence the leave goal difference. The wide players are not good enough hence Godden being isolated his confidence will start going backwards soon Peterborough played him in a 2 we did this with Chaplin went against how he was used at former club.

So provide some stats to stop your claim being anecdotal

As you wish

McNulty played 1,945 minutes without Biamou and scored 10 goals (goal every 194.5 minutes, or one every 2.16 games)
McNulty played 1,749 minutes with Biamou and scored 15 goals (goal every 116.6 minutes, or one every 1.3 games)

Now perhaps you can use that supposedly photographic memory of yours to remember those stats and not bring this up again.

He scored 28 goals not 25 and he scored 1 more with Biamou on the pitch than without

Also if you insist on this minutes on the pitch which forward was McNulty best strike Partner that season? I really can’t be arsed do check but can make a good guess

Marosi
Dabo Rose Hyam Mason
Kelly Walsh
O’Hare
Kasta Godden Hiwula

Doubt we’ll ever see both Westbrooke and Shipley not starting.

Would drop Hiwula but we have no other option.

Not sure why people want to bring McFadzean back in, the 2 CB’s were solid yesterday.

100% agreed with Keresley on all the points above.

There could be a case for starting Baka in the front 3 since Hiwula is clearly lacking in confidence and Kasta hasn't proven himself as a starter.

I would like to see Max paired with Godden at some point as well (as a plan B in games) but as others have pointed out that would require a major change in formation.

___________Marosi
Watson_Hyam___Rose__Mason
Westbrooke_Kelly__Shipley
__O'Hare__Godden__Hiwula

Wilson, Fadz, McCallum, Walsh, Kasta, Baka, Biamou

Giving Godden and Hiwula the chance to make up for those misses yesterday, but if they fail to deliver I would be making changes the game after to keep them on their toes - not sure if they're getting a bit complacent about their places in the team.

I'd also be considering a change in formation to two up top if we don't score, even though MR won't.

Difficult to guess a score. Playing the way we do with a big away following (hopefully they'll be well behaved but expect the Twat Brigade to be out in force) we should win but unless we start putting chances away we could see a problem.

Agree with most of this Dreamer. Agree with the recall of Kelly as the DM. Can't bring myself to drop Walsh though as he's class and I really want to see him play more advanced once Kelly is back. O'Hare should be the focal point of our team but as an attacking midfielder - I don't think he's in his best position as part of a front 3.

We can only wish Dreamer!

Just as the sun is guaranteed to rise each morning, Grendel is 100% guaranteed to repeat some pointless and flawed stat millions of times over. The difference of course is that the sun is useful and serves a purpose.

Most people's final words are usually along the lines of 'I loved my family and had a great life.' I'm personally convinced that on his death bed Old Grendel will summon up the strength to whisper....'statistics show that in the 2017 season McNulty was more effective without Biamou'...before finally dying a 100% contented and happy man......

It’s Dreamer that lives on statistics

We should play Jordan Ponticelli beside Godden surely?

Anyway, don't get this demand for Max to play. I like the lad, like his character, hope he comes good, and think some are a bit unfair on him.

But it seems his reputation is growing by not playing!
Done well playing in a 2 with sparky & I think people are seeing this 433 is isolating Godden & if not him who else
Do we have if we went into a 2

Ha! Beyond some banter, I actually think that Godden situation is tricky. I really like 4-3-3 as it is resulting in some brilliant possession football that I love to watch. But in that formation it leaves Godden battling on his own all day long against two 6'4 L1 centre backs. I think in general he's playing the role well but can't see him doing that for 90 minutes of every game this season. You could even argue that his energy should best be utilised in finishing chances vs. battling himself into the ground every game. In that case he needs a strong strike partner in certain game situations. But that involves a change of formation - I don't have the answer but I'm sure Robins is working on it.

cant get my head around why so many people go to this game and dont support the team at st andrews which is closer
Well the seats are cheap and dirty havent been cleaned in years the roof leaks had to change seats it actually takes ages to get there, sorry dont blame them the place is depressing.
Will carry on for this season then if we are back here again I'm off.

Was just under 6k earlier

This is a serious question for Grendel or anyone else who likes stats. Where does an away following of 6,000+ rank us in a league table of away followings for a league game in England this season or last? Given restrictions on away followings at Prem grounds for league games I would think we'd be up there in terms of largest away following this weekend for example across all 4 Divisions?

Should be a win really ... we had all the possession and chances yesterday ... and we are due a win ...

Why would we change the system? It's taken long enough to get it working and the team's doing well.
We don’t have a fit right sided player for next to Godden,Hiwula cannot seem to be able to finish & with a number 10 I think we will see the best of O’Hare.Have the wide players performed well this season yet ? Most games they have been passengers leaving Godden isolated
