Imo would have same effect that wasps coming here did.
People who have never been to a Cov rugby game because of the level they were at going to the Ricoh to watch the wasps and I know cov rugby is on the way up but they wernt when wasps rolled into town.

So would the Nuneaton people come and watch because there is a better quality of team right on their doorstep I think a few more would . . Tye this is with some good ticket deals and you build a bigger fan base . . I know the Ricoh is only down the road and you could argue that the people who would potentially turn up probably would have if they really wanted to but in terms of it being an issue with the majority I don't think they would oppose

Cov Rugby were on the way up before Wasps arrived weren't they?

I'm not sure that people would drop Nuneaton Town to support CCFC. I certainly wouldn't want that to happen at all and would prefer CCFC to try and respect that if possible. I'd be pissed off if they moved there and tried some sort of media campaign to sweet up all of the Nuneaton Fans to support us instead.

If anything, I'd want CCFC to acknowledge they are on Nuneaton's turf and try and help them if they could. Maybe some shared resources or letting some of our coaches help them out here and there when needed.

The risk for us is that Wasps are due a windfall of cash from selling an element of their rights in the Premiership, so in the short term they are able to play "hard ball" with us. Our situation is far weaker - we have a few weeks to sort out a venue.

They are able to play hardball because people let them and won't say anything bad about them. The same as the council are able to bare faced lie about things and nothing is said.

No party in any of this should be able to get away with trying to distress CCFC for their own games. SISU, CCFC, Wasps, ACL, Higgs etc. Anybody.

What’s irritating is the question of what happens to the golden share..... the Football League will not just take it from CCFC and say “the fans have set a new team up - here’s the golden share”

The reality is, it’ll go to a relegated league two side or another national league side.

Nuneaton or The Ricoh we need CCFC to exist

True, but the people dealing with this are business men and women, who don't give a stuff about public feelings unless it hits their outcomes and profits. The council negated their responsibilities in this matter when they sold their stake in the Ricoh, so have no contractual responsibilities in this matter, its merely business & a sport is an irrelevance to them.

No one cares mate. We aren’t that important. Ranting at clouds about how no one does what we want is pointless.

My home is in Nuneaton and i don't want to watch us play there.
That said Nuneaton is primarily Sky Blue and if we need a temporary home then I wouldn't be againgst it as long as the club continued to exist.
There would need to be an exit strategy if we did play at the liberty stadium.
I hope that common sense prevails and we are still at the Ricoh.

Exactly. People seem to have their eggs in really weird baskets.

"Shout at the EFL, they will just hand the club over to somebody who cares"

That's not how it works.

Don't they? The council leader quite confidently seemed to brag about Public Opinion on his side when it came out he was caught bullshitting.

SISU only care about SISU, that means their investors and things like that. They don't care about CCFC.

As I said, no party should be able to get away with it. History shows that anybody can do what they want as long as they aren't SISU which includes distressing CCFC.

It depends on whether public opinion regarding CCFC is reflected in local elections, so far there is no evidence that it has had any impact. Both Labour and Conservatives were in favour of selling the councils stake in the Ricoh to Wasps. Secondly, if public opinion was a factor in elections, then consideration would need to take account of "when" the next election is & "what seats" are up for election. As you'll appreciate only a percentage of seats are up for election at any time and some of those will be very safe seats for whatever party.

No, he meant that public opinion was firmly on his side when he was questioned about the contradiction in what has come out from the council.

He was right, just after that nothing was mentioned and the focus was back on SISU because it was then all about ramping up protests and anger. The heat was off Duggins. ;)

Other parties can get away with doing whatever they want because they aren't SISU. Of course SISU should get shit thrown at them, it doesn't mean other parties shouldn't.

And if Wasps continue to refuse talks you would rather the club ceased to exist than play a few minutes down the road?

The Ricoh is hardly some unreachable promised land for the people of Nuneaton that they'd attend if only it wasn't so far away. Its a few minutes down the road. Pretty sure anyone from Nuneaton who wants to watch us manages it at the moment.

Young kids tend to get introduced by being taken by a parent. Can't imagine a load of City supporting Dads taking their kids to Villa games.

Probably because everyone knows its not being seriously considered so its just another topic to chat bollocks about. If there was a serious suggestion to move to Nuneaton I'm sure the posts in here would be different.

Yeah, but we all know it does affect kids in terms of who they support at school.

Case in point, Blackburn when they won the league title.

Next time we played them here there were loads of local kids in the ground wearing Blackburn Rovers shirts and supporting Blackburn.

Kids do get influenced and especially by teams having success.

They're safe with us then

Anyone know a realistic timeline here? Is there a date where you have to register with the EFL where you'll be playing next year?

If they were to kick us out of the league, what would happen to league one, would it just be played with 23 teams? Has this happened in the past I cant think of any examples.

Aldershot collapsed before the season ended and Maidstone ceased exist at the start of the next season

Yeah, historically, but past two years, Checkatrade and promotion.

Would make no difference as they'd support Coventry anyway

Nuneaton are in the shit with HMRC, players haven’t been paid wages, the ground is owned by Norman Southwaite who is a Coventry bloke/fan, COVENTRY CITY FC, need a ground to play their games in................it all adds up to me. I can see CCFC/Nuneaton sharing the stadium and I’m sure Nuneaton fans would welcome that if it means saving their club from extinction, not to mention ours too.

Young kids who have no affiliation yet?

Yes to premier league clubs and if they want a league club us - why would anyone watch Coventry Sphinx and have an affiliation at all when there is a league club in the same City?

It won't happen anyway but if it did and it was the only option no one who supports the club would seriously object to it

In your opinion.

If it had to be a 5,000 seater stadium then it would have to be the Butts and pressure put on the council there, alongside a plea to Cov rugby to help.

It's almost as if he was preparing for something by buying that ground?

AFC Wimbledon capacity is less - I have no doubt the EFL would allow it to happen and if that was the plan B they will have already approved it

But we haven't been kicked out yet. We get kicked out that changes everything. Totally moves the goalposts.

I am certain we WILL get a deal and I know loads of people feel the same.

If Wasps do kick us out though, that then becomes a whole new ball game.

Has to be the Butts and I think it would be with a bit of goodwill.

You have to remember, the whole legal fight is over the ownership of the Ricoh.

Coventry Council have a say and some sway over if we play at the Butts don't they? Do you think they would make things nice and easy and give some good will if it meant CCFC not playing at the Ricoh?

Jon Sharpe has his own plans, pretty obvious they would be at risk if he went against the council ;)

We have 20 days to register where we will be playing

Can’t imagine that this is at all feasible before the start of next season. If new stands would have to go in, temporary or otherwise I’m pretty sure that would require planning permission. That could be a long process on its own let alone design, going out to tender, awarding the contract to undertake work, presuming that a contractor has time in its planned schedule to undertake the work etc etc. You don’t need to do much scratching before this doesn’t even look feasible. Before you even go into does the landlord want us, will the FL sanction it and who’s going to pay for it.

Wasn't it reported that CRFC were interested in converting the pitch into a 4g one? If so, what are the EFL rules on the level we would be allowed to use such a facility.

The landlord would probably want us but considering the Rugby Club won't even allow entry via their land and put skips across the turnstyles I can't see them being willing to allow big stands to be thrown up there.

Which also begs the question of how the pitch would stand up. Look at the state of the 3G Ricoh pitch with just one rugby team and one football team playing on it. Two football teams and a rugby team playing on the same grass pitch? Doesn’t sound possible.
