Not as much outrage on this as there should be (1 Viewer)

If it were Iraq, or Iran, or Libya, or Pakistan I think the words would be much stronger, but of course it's our 'friends' from Saudi Arabia. Those lovely people we all love doing business with.

This whole episode seems outrageous and to happen inside a consulate too?

Turkey 'has recording proving Saudi murder' - Turkey 'has recording proving Saudi murder'

Does of course conjure up another issue of why Turkey were bugging a consulate (which appears is what they were doing), but still.

As I understand it Kashoggi wore an Apple watch that recorded events and had GPS. Everything was uploaded to his iPad/cloud which was retained by his fiancée.

Also I've seen it said the Turks have found forensic evidence in the sewers.

Right, cheers for that. That makes sense.

Can't see how the Saudis can talk their way out of this one. Seems bang to rights.

Here is a bit on Trump too and it relating how he has not mentioned this case in his Twitter feed or at his campaign rallies, which is his preferred way of doing things.

Donald Trump and a world of disorder - Donald Trump and a world of disorder

Donald Trump had nothing to do with the murder. In fact, Donald Trump has never murdered anyone.
Of course, the media, who are about 90% anti-Trump will use this to cast him in a bad light.
Next they'll be claiming he isn't doing enough to help the hurricane victims in Florida, even though Donald Trump did not cause the hurricane.

Missing the point, Gaz.

No-one is blaming him for this incident in this article, they are just saying he is always very vocal and quick in condemning, but because it's the good old Saudi Arabians he's not saying much at all here.

This bit wasn't a go at Trump, it was ponting out how we turn a blind eye to all things Saudi.

This sounds like the debased sort of argument or reasoning that he would use. What's him causing or not causing it got to do with anything, he's president of the country ffs.

Where's the proof?

Not saying I don't believe it for a single second, but they keep saying these very profound things and they seem to know exactly what took place somehow (don't know how and surely isn't it illegal to have surveillance inside a consulate?), but where's the actual concrete proof? Has anyone corroberated this evidence at all?

Plenty of scepticism and alternative conspiracy theories out there.

There was that supposed Apple watch evidence, but I heard some expert diss that as not feasible.

Never, ever heard such concrete, exact, precise evidence on anything before, not after such a short period of time after an event.

It's all a bit surreal.

I've never liked or trusted the Saudis. Public beheadings. Chopping hands off in public. Beating women because they want to speak out. Horrible people. Horrible nation. But they hold the world to ransom with what the world wants and needs.... Oil. They will get away with atrocities as long as the West licks their arses and greases their filthy palms with US Dollars and other Western currency.

It doesn't really surprise me that they get away with it. They have the second biggest Oil reserves in the world. Best to keep them onside, if that stops flowing i'm sure we will see worse things back here.

They also hold an ungodly amount of assets in foreign countries as a means of diversifying from oil.

As far as I am aware, and not wanting to get involved in the politics between them, don't Saudi and Turkey hate each other? In which case, I can't trust anything either party says on this. But states killing people is certainly not a new invention. It happens all the time. Why the faux outrage with this one?

I've seen it said Erdogan wants to set himself up as a new Caliph & boss the entire Islamic world.

One thing is sure he will never let go of power, democracy in Turkey is now a sham.

So now the Saudis are admitting that he IS dead. Dead after a fight broke out at the consulate.

Pathetic and feeble excuse.

No-one is buying that for a second surely.

Jamal Khashoggi case: Journalist 'died after fight' - Saudi TV - Khashoggi 'died after fight' - Saudis

So, a fight broke out, he died and suddenly 15 people fly in and turn up at the consulate, including a forensic expert and someone carrying a bone saw.

Yeah, totally feasible I suppose.

Fucking hell. How can Trump say he's impressed with how quickly they've dealt with it? Lied through their teeth, planned the fall-guys and now all is rosy within the House of Saud again. Give me a break.

Asked if he thought SaudiArabia's version of events was credible, he answered 'I do.'

The Saudis have now sacked two officials over the Khashoggi killing, not for killing him .... but for doing such a lousy job of it.

It's just unbelievable that they think they can now get away with saying "yes he died in a fight" after saying he left the embassy (although I don't think they specifically said he left alive).

How can that not look extremely dodgy. If it were true surely the thing you do is immediately report the incident and get it investigated to reduce suspicion on yourselves. Even if you had killed him you'd do that.

And as they've now said he died where is the body? If he died in an accident you'd want it forensically examined to prove your claim.

Everything about this now screams state-sponsored murder. So why aren't we making more of this? Because of a deal to sell them weapons? Why the fuck would you think it'd be a good idea to continue selling people like this weapons? It might seem economically naive but I'd be cancelling the order myself. Given how much they seem to be ordering from various nations they could end up with a VERY strong military presence and is it something we want them to have, let alone help them achieve?

They don't want to disprove it, they want you to know they've done it and they can do it again.
