I’m just pointing out that we’ve done ok with Wilson in net, and that you can’t fluke your way to 22 clean sheets in a season. I’d prefer a better keeper but if Wilson is in net I don’t think it’s the disaster some are saying.

The stats show he’s a ok keeper for the level but has v poor distribution, hence why Robins and Lampard have favoured other keepers.

If you look at a lot of those games he didn’t have a lot to do, so many of them we weren’t even challenged, we were tight at the back.

Not gunna lie though, without Wilson’s goal against Blackburn we wouldn’t have made playoffs in my opinion. That was the catalyst moment. Same this seasons with Paterson

I expect a queue of fans at the gates at Ryton tomorrow looking for a trial. The ones that come on here with their “I could have saved that” attitude.

There is always something. Wilson blindness is pretty nasty tbf, no known cure.

I'm open to new signings. But I have no influence on who we buy, so won't beat myself up on who we haven't signed. Also when we signed Collins, I knew nothing about him and approached with an open mind. Some were saying he was a definite upgrade. I never saw any evidence of that personally.

At the moment like it or not Wilson is the best keeper we have.

So we're not reading anything into ore season, just get the mistakes out, build fitness get sharp for real games ... except when it suits the narrative for a bit of whataboutery 👍

To be fair there's two strains.
The one that thinks he's an adequate keeper, and the one that thinks he's not a massive upgrade on Collins.
Having Wilson starting in goal over Collins and being told we should be happy with it is like waking up to someone laying out a solid turd on your chest and when you question it you get told to just be happy it wasn't a diarrhea.

Yeah I think Collins not getting any minutes does point to us getting a GK in. If he was definitely 2nd choice going into the season he'd have got a half in the 2 games

Collins not playing at all may indicate that he’s off and a proper keeper will be brought in with Wilson reverting to 3rd choice. 🤞
I think it was crystal clear once Collins was dropped for the Middlesbrough game that he had no future here, as a backup or otherwise.

Bringing in a #1-calibre keeper is the only sensible move here and it shouldn’t be too difficult or cost us much.

A recipe for disaster… I’m not convinced on any of our keepers.. Dovin is the best of the 3 by far though but even he dropped a clanger or 2

For me is the the most important position on the pitch..
Dovin was a top 5 keeper in the league last season. In the Jan-Feb winning streak Dovin was MOTM or thereabouts in most of the games.

Even v Leeds where he made a basic error, he was out MOTM because his saves prevented the scoreline being 3 or 4 to nil. Keepers will make mistakes.

However, we need to sign a credible GK. Collins or Wilson in goal for a prolonged period this season could be costly.
