Something I've dreamed about for the last 24 years, but doesn't feel like how I imagined it would

I'm not even sure I can say its enjoyable to be honest. Saturday nights after a win feel amazing. The rest of the time I just want the season over with as I'm terrified we're still going to blow it!

There were times where I honestly thought it would be decades before we had a chance of getting back there

I'm one of the lucky ones I was there in 66/67 season when we got promoted to Division 1, that's what it was called back then.

That was a mental season also.

Perhaps we're spending too much time looking at the number of wins and losses. It's the draws that have been the most reliably consistent factor. 20 of the 24 Championship teams this year have drawn almost exactly a quarter of their fixtures. There is no reason to suppose that that same ratio won't continue until the end of the season.

It means almost every team will draw at least two or three of their remaining games. That means nearly every team will drop about 5 points more than most people are expecting will be dropped. Our excellent goal difference should also mean that one less win than most are predicting should be enough for City to clinch automatic promotion this year. 85 points may well be enough. Three wins and two draws should do it.

I now think we may achieve this by the first week in April, with four or five games to spare!

What a great season it has been!

I prefer to see each game as a win or a loss and treat each draw as a bonus, especially so when it's two sides that are near the top and both need the win.

For instance we have several of these games coming up concerning two of the clubs in the top 6. I look at the damage a win for either side would do then treat a draw as a bonus.

In all reality it's 3 clubs going for the top spot which we are clearly favourites for and 6 clubs going for 2nd including ourselves. Most of the 6 clubs see us as getting 1st so in reality it's 5 clubs going for 2nd. Only Middlesbrough and Ipswich have a realistic chance of catching us, but they're looking more behind them than us at the top.

Draws? Ipswich v Middlesbrough for me, but we will no doubt have a preference on who wins by then.

As I've said on here before it's good fun trying to work out who wins what games but it's the championship and it's totally impossible. Ipswich and sheff utd were hone bankers this weekend and look what happened there. 30 points still up for grabs although one thing we can say is Boro. Millwall and Ipswich cant all get maximum because they all play each other which is the positive for us. Missing Rudoni and Bobby Thomas for next 3 games is a blow but at least we have the squad to cope now compared to Dec/Jan.

If your next 10 results mirror Oxford United's or Charlton's last 10 for example (coincidentally equalling the statistically Worst 10 game period out of the 27 it's possible to select of your entire season - WITHOUT SHEFF WED FEATURING IN IT like now, without your January business all done and with a jolly old virus popping up partway through, just for shits and giggles - when some fans were unbelievably calling for Lampard's head) you'd reach 86 points.

To beat that, the 2 nearest challengers BOTH have to win 7 and 8 games respectively out of their 11 left, when they play each other in that run AND they both also play the third even darker horse challenger.

You're practically as good as promoted.

To describe it succinctly (almost as it does the disservice to Millwall of not being involved in an auto battle, but it fits this setting more as they've the very least risk of catching you), flip a coin in the air. If it lands on Heads, we miss out on promotion. If it lands on Tails, Ipswich miss out on promotion. If it lands on it's edge then you miss out on promotion.

I agree with what you are saying but it makes sense to take each game at a time and not get ahead of ourselves
