Because before the wins we were not performing well either.

Our home record in terms of goals scored is diabolical

Despite our so called great defence we have not had any clean sheets for I think 11 games

I think either would have dramatically altered that season.
Walked out of the Everton game at half time and went to the Brewer.
Knew we were down.

I don't want to get rid of MR, and can anybody tell me what SISU could do to attract better? They would have an interesting time re: length of contract offered (as per how long we have a guaranteed ground), so that would put most of any quality off. MR has said (prior to he current run) that he/the club needs a succession of transfer windows to take us up. In the interim period, we will have things like this happen, particularly when key injuries hit us. Armchair critics won't help us, supporters will. I understand the frustration, though. (if it cheers anybody up though, look at how Bradford are beginning to turn the corner)

We weren't playing that well, but I think we were competing and not looking outclassed in games.

The lack of goals is killing us.

Really don't get this, stick with him mentality. At the end of the day, we need to start picking up results. Crowds are going to start to shrink at home, which will impact income which is vital. Robins has been serving up this negative, boring football all season and is easily the most stubborn manager I have ever known. Truth is we owe him nothing, how long are you all prepared to give him before you decide enough is enough? My patience is wearing thin, his team selections, formations and substitutions are becoming bizare. He is tactically out witted almost every game. Not once has he ever had the balls to apologise and admit he got it wrong. Home form is embarrassing, it simply can't carry on indefinitely. For me, he has 3 more games, if we see no change in style, tactics or his use of subs and we don't pick up at least one win, then enough is enough. Would you trust him with any money in Janaury?

If we went all guns blazing against Charlton and got spanked 6-2, would you say - that's better! I've been entertained. Or would you boo like mad at the end of the game and give the players dogs abuse? I am, of course, assuming you attend the matches. And yes, of course I want us to win, and be entertaining.

I have been attending matches since 1965 and have been a season ticket holder for the past 20 years so hopefully that meets with your approval.

I look at man utd for inspiration here. Jose playing awful negative football, slow, lethargic and no purpose to attack. He's gone, ole comes in and says, go and fucking attack. They win 5-1. Now we aren't man utd, I don't want MR replaced but what I do want is for us to say, fuck it let's go out attack.

We know our defence is capable of holding their own, trust them and let's let the shackles off. Hiwula, chaplin, Thomas bayliss. Kelly and ogogo both say their natural position is further forward. I'm not gonna work out the best team here but just unleash them a bit, because this negative shit is clearly not working

Worked well for Notts County didn’t it. Worked well for Scunthorpe too.

A new manager can come in but nothing changes at this point, fundamental issues are still to be rectified. Plus some are not disciplined enough to take the shackles off.

He has form but I hope he will find a way to turn this around. Unfortunately next up is Charlton, 15pts out of last 15 & we got one.

I'm rather worried now, money was spent in the transfer window but the buys haven't really come good & there seems to be a bad attitude in the camp.

The only way I can see out of this is resolve the morale issue, even if it means getting rid of someone.

Truth is as someone else alluded to, we are hardly the dream job are we ? We need a deal to stabilise the club soon or we might find by the end of January quite a few rats might be jumping the sinking ship.

What I don't get is if anybody questions robins it's "well who would you bring in".

Don't you find the whole negative approach to games a bit draining? Chasing games we still don't change it to and go to try and get a result.

Oh not that typical response again. Ok let's stick with Robins forever then shall we? I still support the club, I'm still putting my hard earned in. I am allowed to question him though, and I will because the total tripe he is serving up right now is shocking and his inability to see this and change is going to result in relegation which we simply cannot afford

We don’t look like scoring at the moment and we look like conceding at least one a game. I would play us 10yds higher up the pitch and put Thomas, hiwula and Chaplin up front (with Baka as an option when fit)...always two close and one out wide. We might not win but we would score a few. I want to see Thomas running against centre backs as well as full backs.
I would have Doyle back ASAP with Kelly and ogogo (give Baylis a couple games rest). Back four as yesterday (or Davis when fit).

Was I ? show me. I’ve stuck up for him more than most, don’t know if you go to games or not, if you do give a possible solution. And I don’t want him fired because that means we are struggling, I want us to play the way we were when we got to Wembley but one successful day out at Wembley can’t mask how poor we are now. As we are now I see nothing but a relegation scrap.

Not at all. We are significantly bigger than most clubs in that league and we still only managed to squeeze into the play offs.

He was treated as an absolute hero when he did well. He shouldn't expect to be treated the same when we're doing poorly.

He's not getting abused by anyone, people are just highlighting the many faults seen this season.

Agree, there's a difference between abusing him and pointing out be is being stubborn.

Winning promotion last year doesn't mask anything.

Agree. When a side starts to think it isn't going to score, it seems to take a grip of the team. I think people forget that during our awful run, we have only lost once at home (2-1 to Luton). We have been competitive, but toothless.

It's not ideal, but there are number of times when a managerial change led to us escaping the drop. When we got relegated from the PL we'd had the same manager for 5 years. From Championship into L1 we kept faith with Andy Thorn.

No-one wants to have a managerial merry-go-round. We'd love a manager in charge for a decade or more but to even think about that those managers have to have success on the pitch.

With one or two exceptions) the managerial changes have been made for a very clear reason - results and on the pitch haven't been good enough in the few months prior to their dismissal. No-one will ever know if we'd changed Strachan or Thorn if we'd have stayed up, nor can we ever know if NOT changing a manager would've led to us going down rather than surviving. The only thing we can know for sure is that we've stayed up after making managerial changes and gone down on some of the occasions we haven't.

Your right but exactly the same thing has been said about the last 10 or so managers we have had.
So in reality what will change after the honeymoon period?
Come on even Mowbray was a called one trick pony couldn't change games and he was one of the better ones imho.

Spot on. Only hiwula coming on gave Shrewsbury anything to think about. We need too many touches, instinctively want too many sideways passes and allow the opposition to comfortably get 10 men behind the ball. Thomas' drop in form has seriously exposed our lack of any penetration and pace up front which put defences under pressure. With JCH seemingly unable to hold the ball up there is absolutely no respite for our defence: we lose the ball too easily up front and then we're defending once again. I don't really know how we solve this problem in the short term as it's not just down to one player.

I think that's a fair summery of what is wrong. MR and his team need to work out why? Only then can they work out a solution. I suspect that Doyle is involved in some way, but of course this is really only speculation.

Funny how this thread has gone a bit quiet since we won a couple. According to some of those on here, the players must have forgotten again about the ground situation, since it obviously affected them during the winless run (also obviously they had cleared their minds of it when we won five in a row).

Poised for the push for the play offs or doomed to a relegation battle?
The poor performances of Bayliss have offered up a winner and a sublime assist in the past 2 games
The team that was plummeting is starting a run.
The crisis I would say is in the stands. Micro managing chances and errors as though the very best never made a mistake. We are a third division side and are competing, something we just couldn't do in 16/17 for the entire season.
Robins got us back and we are doing okay and that is fine by me.
Hearing some of the things shouted at Shipley and Bayliss yesterday was out of order. Shit fans deserve a shit team. Save your bile for the battles ahead and not the players who play their hearts out for our club.

Given we were sixth best team in the division below, I'd say we're doing more than OK.

The best thing the manager can do is progress year on year (and it's not necessarily failure if he doesn't!). I'd say we've done that.
