Cost of living crisis is real. Difficulties with game finishing late on a midweek night is real. Many travel a fair distance to home games.

There will always be reasons why STHs and members can't go to home games. Some will be very good reasons, some a bit flaky but they are all valid reasons for the people concerned. It creates an opportunity for people who can't get tickets normally because of sell outs or the PL prices to get in the CBS and watch a game. and against a local rival. Perhaps tickets should have moved to general sale sooner than Friday. Members wanting one would have been waiting since the 3rd for their window to open and buy straight away if they were going to? I know a few infrequent attenders wavering over this one. Max out the time to pitch the game at them and build a bit of FOMO

I can afford a ticket and will probably go but haven't bought one yet as I think it is too expensive as two reserve sides will be playing.Doug could easily of put tickets at £20 and £5/£10 kids.Think he is getting a little greedy but was expecting it once we got into the Premier.

I get the pricing but are people really missing this derby over an extra tenner?How do you know the line ups, and why does that really matter? It's Villa for the first time since 2001 and first time at the CBS. It's absolutely embarrassing, half the ground wearing new £100 home shirts but not going to this, so odd. People have sang SOTV for years then we don't even sell out because it's 30 quid. Hoping for some good sales this week, I get things are tight at the moment but it's really poor.

One more thing, this is our last home game until mid October! If you can get a ticket, go! Let's get one over Villa PUSB

It might be the "going rate" but its still poor value (imo)

Not sure why away fans are capped at 30 but clubs are free to coin it in off their own fans.

As i say, its "business sense" but its pretty poor.

I'm sure its been discussed more than enough on relevant threads anyway.

Away fans are the hardcore and would be ripe for exploitation without the cap- clubs could charge silly amounts and most would probably still pay it.

In the last 24 hours they've released an additional 112 tickets and sold 176 so essentially we've sold a net 64 tickets. Surely just open it up to everyone with an account now at this point.

Anyone on 1400-1490 could have had 70 points this season from going to games (2x friendlies, Plymouth, Villa). How many actually did, and how many didn’t but will moan they can’t get tickets to Arsenal, Man City etc.

We don't have a hardcore of 25,000 that will pull a sickie from work or can get time off at short notice. We don't have a hardcore of 25,000 with unlimited funds. There will be many like myself who would love to be there but life makes it impossible, and I'm retired.

Some people will moan whatever. I ignore them as most aren't worth listening to. But it's those that go the most that haven't bought the tickets so far. The free for all hasn't started yet.

The ballot system, with flawless luck, you will go to 33% of away games (minus Bournemouth and Brentford), about 5-6 games = 50-100 points depending on fixture rescheduling.

A lot of ‘closed shoppers’ probably haven’t realised they will lose a lot of points next season and no doubt they’ll complain about it. As you say, there’s been 70 points from non-league games so far. A lot of people will probably end up regretting not going to these games next season if we stay up. I’ll be losing around 560 at the end of the season.

It’s Villa, our main rival for a lot of people and is less than when we played Tottenham in 2024. The pricing is pretty reasonable imo.

True, these cup games are a bit of a barometer of whether or not a club needs an extension or not. If we can’t sell out a Carabao Cup game v a supposed rival, then we’re really not that ready. We wouldn’t fill out a 35-40k stadium if we turned into a yo-yo team.

They dont have any bearing , aston villa had 32,000 in a Europa league game last season , its about affordability and worth

Agree in full. The closed shoppers want tickets when the bandwagon is fully in motion and act surprised when they can’t get on for Man City away etc. Meanwhile, excuse central for any other fixture.

This should be a sell out everyday of the week and I don’t think the pricing (apart from concessions and PZ) is anything above what was charged in recent seasons - weren’t we charging £45 for a Cat A game last season to non season ticket holders and away fans? It’s £32.

I really don’t get why anyone would want to miss this one but I’m sure if it was semi final or final then social media would be flooded with begging posts for tickets.

If you can’t be arsed to go to this game, don’t be surprised when you don’t get tickets for Villa Away in April and don’t shout closed shop because the points system doesn’t centre itself on you!

To be honest it should be a sell out from non season ticket holders the amount of people who scramble for tickets with either low points or no purchase history , so if after general sale it’s still not a sell out it’s more aimed at the floating fans who want to pick and choose matches to go to .

I really think that perhaps more people are struggling with ‘ The cost of greed’ crisis than I realised. The ticket price isn’t that prohibitive but I do understand thats only a part of the true cost of going to matches for many.
Energy bills, vehicle fuel, food, drink, water bills, council tax, insurance costs, phone bills etc all going up above inflation.

Surely the closed shop argument is redundant until the tickets go on sale to non members? The people that are not buying tickets at the moment are season ticket holders and premium members, many of whom will have plenty of points, so your ire should be better pointed at those people, rather than those not able to purchase tickets as yet!

I think it's a popular time to be away if you don't have kids. Cost is lower and still the possibility of reasonable weather. We waited for confirmation of the Brighton match before booking and then delayed by a day when it was moved to Sunday but we're locked in on dates now. Where I work lots of people are on leave at the moment
