In the online clips he’s classy and exciting, with the obvious caveat that it’s just the best 0.1% of what he’s done. But the art of management is to consistently extract the best out of people, so hopefully Robins and Viveash will do that.

Let’s hope his shots are harder than Callum’s and his delicate through balls are softer than Callum’s

You would also have to ask how we are signing a player that's on 16k plus now .. when we need a bigger squad than last year

Unless huge wage cut

A deal with an up front signing on fee and 8 to 10k per week is probably the way it will be structured.

So you think his stats are good? They aren't really better than O´Hare's are they?

It was a list of his appearances, goals, and assists over 6 years, by year. Are they not statistics?

134 appearances and 14 goals versus 94 appearances and 8 goals.

Hardly a country mile's difference is there? A goal every 9.5 games versus every 11.75 games.

He scores on average 2 goals a season. That is appalling.

Thought what we were missing last year was that final pass to release the striker like Sheaf did against Southampton and Kelly against Bristol, I think. Perhaps that is why we are taking the gamble on another Chelski old boy who can actually pass through the lines. Lost count how many times Hamer, COH or Allen fluffed a final pass. AV gets most things right. Wakefield had major injury problems. Dabo class also with injury problems. Kane was ok. Sterling was good in lower leagues. JCS class, as was Maa apart from a little inexperience. I trust our management team to know a player who will fit in with our system.

No.

What has that got to do with Palmer's underwhelming stats?

Just saying you’re not always the best judge when it comes to recruitment. I thought you said all our signings last summer were underwhelming or something along those lines?

Factor in how many times each starts then its actually reversed, Palmer has started half his games, O’hare almost all

I was bang on about Bright and one, if not the first to bang the drum for Gyokeres on here when people were moaning following his signing.

As for not being the best judge? Maybe, but I have looked at this player in question over the last six years and presented my argument as to why I think it is underwhelming. The only counters I have had are comments about what I said last season, a website I got the stats from, and a comparison to Jamie Allen. I'm not really sure my judgment is the main problem here.

Thats a pretty damning summary, when you consider the type game we play and the work rate and discipline required of all our players.

Fair enough. Palmer is clearly talented, he just needs a consistent run in a team that plays his style of football

For the people doubting Palmer before he has kicked a ball. Just wait and see, we could be a good fit for him. A players form at another club isn't always transferable. Works both ways.

Most on here would have given a left nut to sign Liam Walsh 2 seasons ago. He went from being probably our standout player to not getting a sniff at Bristol then Swansea (injuries granted)

Sometimes a player fits a system. Also helps to feel wanted. So let's just see how it goes

Right, so if for a seventh season in a row he replicates what he has done for the last six and scores twice for us this season, you'll be happy?

You can do the whole goals by minute thing if you want, but you are farting around the main point. We already have a number 10 who flatters to deceive in front of goal. We are signing one who has not done that much better, and even though his appearances are less, you have a larger period of time to analyse, so for six years he has performed underwhelmingly. That is what I am getting at here. If you cannot see that, or don't want to, then fine, but stop trying to argue that water isn't wet.

Whats his style of football? Geniune question.

He seems to have been mainly used as an impact sub at every club he's been at.

Palmer is a talented 25 years old and three years ago cost £3.5m. To think we are arguing about whether he is a good addition shows how far we have come the last few years. Attacking midfielders come at a premium. Very, very hard to find particularly on a budget. It is a bit of a gamble but one worth taking if we are to progress in my opinion.

We like to keep the ball on the deck and get our midfield players involved. Suits someone with an eye for a forward pass. Why is this so difficult lol
