Good news this. I like Torp, technically hes a fantastic player, and his striking of a dead ball or long range thunderbastards is up there with the best.

My only concern, as it always has been, is he can sometimes want just a little too much time on the ball and can get caught. Hopefully we can coach that

Totally agree, but the awareness is something that he can improve on especially if if he is training everyday with better players. He has to get fitter but all will need to raise that level as a given.

His fitness levels improved last year. I still think he is better off the bench when the game is a bit more stretched than starting. Still think he lacks pace and a bit of physicality.

But you can’t fault his set piece play and shooting. He will certainly be a good option to have in the squad.

He won’t be starting that often I wouldn’t have thought but it’s wise to tie him down whilst his stock is high and like many have said he’s worth bringing on later in games for set pieces and long rangers alone.

I’m sure he will get game time with the amount of substitutions in today’s game. We can judge him then. If he steps up all well and good, especially if he keeps up his goal scoring exploits.

17 goals in 102 games is pretty decent for a midfielder...not Lampard level, but still pretty good.
Scored way more than Sheaf, who was injury prone and apparently worth £6m to Wrexham.

No problems with him extending loads of ability and is technically one of the better strikers of a ball we have. He is not on his own is the fitness level but set pieces as an impact sub its good we have him around. Also secures an asset going forward because he would have clubs interested if it was known he was available

I think it's more than what he does on an individual basis, it's more to do with the overall, what he sees that others don't if that makes sense, he can see overhead picture of his teammates.

Tying down an asset is obviously a good thing. Does this mean Eccles goes? If not that means your midfield next year is Grimes, Onyeka, Rudoni, Torp, Eccles and probably room for 1 more. Is that good enough?

Torp could be massive for us next season.

This season was brilliant, but scoring goals next season won't be anywhere near as easy. Those like Torp, who are very good from around 25 yards, are going to bag us some big goals. His shots will just be as unstoppable in the Prem.

Great. We also finished 3rd in the Prem and have 250m to spend this window?

But back to reality. He is ours. He will score goals. He is one of the reasons we won the Championship. Torp deserves his chance in the Prem even though he isn't classed as a Prem player by some and without a chance of making it.

Lampard wants to keep Torp. That's enough for me.

We're not signing 20 players no matter how much some want us to. We have to keep the best of who we have and add to them. Nobody is saying he will be a part of the 1st 11. What is being said is he deserves his chance, and when he gets his chance we hope he's good enough.

It wouldn't surprise me that it's the same people having a go at some of the players are the same as those that had a go at those like Lati and Allen for not being good enough this season. Whenever called upon nobody let us down.

We're not expecting miracles. But we don't rely on dodgy pens for our goals. Our players are there because they deserve to be. Now it's time to see which ones can make the step up with help from other players.
