I'm not a fan of Canada these days.

In 2016, Canada legalized medical assistance in dying (MAID) for adults with a severe and irreversible illness, disease or disability. Social media posts sharing photos of a pamphlet referring to MAID for "mature minors" claimed it promoted MAID to children or that MAID is currently, or soon will be, available to children, including those experiencing mental illness. These claims are false. The pamphlet actually advocates against MAID access for minors.

How people behave in crowds.

I am sure there must be some science that people switch off and go onto auto-pilot when many others are around, as if it is some sort of safety in numbers mindset or whatever. The lack of awareness is mad.

Waiting to get on a plane just now and one person stands up to go and start a queue to get on the aircraft. Not a single member of staff has done anything to indicate we are about to board, no change in signage or announcements, someone just decided to go and stand at the front.

Another 40 or 50 people then get up from their seats, collect their belongings, and go and start joining this imaginary queue to get on a plane where they already have an allocated seat assigned to them.

They've now been stood there for 10 minutes at least.

My first school as a teacher had a big open atrium in the middle of an X shape with balconies you could look down on the sort of square below. I’d often watch crowd behaviour in kids when I was on duty up top. One will run and others just start going no idea why or where they’re going but everyone else is so let’s do it. Most people run massively on autopilot and there must be some elemental reason where for safety you stick with the herd right? The antelope that doesn’t run when others do gets eaten pretty quick so I’m guessing there’s a big evo psych reason.

Fun to watch tho. But only watch groups of children that are you have legal responsibility for pls.

Having spent a lifetime travelling for work in Europe just with hand luggage some late flights I always got as close to the front as people started queuing - reason - I hated bags under my feet I am tall and if you didn’t get on fast you found that the overhead bins would be full around your seat - a distinct no no was putting your bag more than a reach away behind your seat row as when you get off there’s no way you are going backwards in a hurry to get your bag - the knock on effect could at Birmingham cost you 30 minutes as the Q for passports had already built up - if you are about to sit down for 2 plus hours no problem with standing for a bit before the flight - just glad I am retired

You aren’t the first to make that comparison. No coincidence the academy sponsor saw working class kids as animals that needed to be tamed through religion and maybe a little education.

With the price of coffee it’s now a treat to visit a coffee shop. It annoys me the number of times I have to take it back (latest being yesterday) as it’s only luke warm. I ask now for it to be extra hot but sometimes forget.
A first world problem for sure but it annoys me.

Tesco's in Bedworth. It would be nice if they were able to get their lifts and travelators working. One of each was out of action.Chaos trying to get customers and staff bringing up trolleys up in 1 lift.Had to join a long queue yesterday with an 88 yo friend who needed 3 items.Took us longer to get in than get the items. How the place doesn't get a friendly visit for safety reasons i'll never know.

On the coffee shop theme, yesterday ordered cappuccinos without sprinkles, when they turned up there had sprinkles, got replacements sans sprinkles.

I'm ok on the coffee front, but I think I'll keep quiet without mentioning the outlet so it doesn't get swamped and inflated prices, although it can get swamped with food telephone orders, time to avoid 10-11.

This exact thing has just happened now.
At a gate waiting to board now - the announcement went up that ‘boarding will commence shortly’ and for everyone to remain seated til called - about 30 people suddenly get up and walk towards the gate and queue.
What have they heard that I haven’t?!

How nearly all media tell us how they “value your privacy” but now require us to pay a fee to carry it out. If they value it that much this would not be required.

People in interviews or just in conversation who start their sentences with "Look ...". Most commonly seen in politicians and the like. Rudeness and passive aggression in equal measure.

McDonald’s - you use the machines to order, you get a number, you wait for it to be called.
what is pissing me off are people who get their number and aren’t prepared to wait and go up to the counter and almost chivvy the staff along.
No-one is prepared to say ‘wait your fucking turn’
It’s like they just can’t be arsed with the agro and give in.
I’ve got no problem if I’m 89 and 95 gets called before me - might be an easier order to prep, but don’t go and say “I’m 90” when it’s still on 70.
My tolerance of people is rapidly deteriorating

Let them queue, not like the plane is going to leave any faster/sooner. Everyone is allocated a seat, so it's not like they're going to get the best seat either. If anything, the later you get on the plane, the less time you spend trapped on the plane. Be the last to get on. Less time trapped in a tin can, with an uncomfortable seat with little to no leg room.

Yes, but they just get in the way of the people who have been called forward for boarding. Selfish pricks!

I remember over a decade ago, before google maps I think, going to look at cars in one of these big car dealers I think it was in Tamworth, but anyway I was hungry and there was this McDonalds full of noisy kids, fortunately I noticed a pub up the road and went there, it was peaceful and did a decent pint and fish and chips. Always look for the alternative.

Personally I’d rather choose when I want to pay for service and McDonalds ain’t it. Much rather we mechanise and pay a decent wage to cashiers than expect slave labour
