Why do mostly foreign people have to use their phone on speaker phone holding it out away from their face?

My wife does this , and to just to give me more of a treat she has the other caller usually her mum or sister on loudspeaker pretty much every evening . We have a decent sized house and she could go anywhere , they don't say much either just a variety of tuts and groans Its like gobshite tennis

Said it before and i’ll say it again - trollies in self checkout

Even worse the other day I wanted the cash checkout in Lidl for 2 items and a family with a full trolley and 3 misbehaving kids got in before me on the only functioning terminal. They took ages.

And no I wasn't going to use a card.
