So many new faces can easily create a new group and an old group dynamic. I feel like I don’t know the new players or ‘get’ them; what’s their best quality, I love that tackle they made or thing they did. Tats for example. It might be rose tinted spectacles but I feel like I instantly got that he was skillful and feisty, and always there to help his full back out and I loved him for it. I know it’s early days for all the new lads and hopefully that will all come but I miss how the fan/player side of it has felt over the last few seasons. Can’t help wondering if the dressing room is similarly lacking a bit of together and collective belief

Anyone who’s played team sport knows that team spirit just comes from winning games. So team spirit will be in short supply this season.

Yeah actually look at them- 481 mins total and 399 mins total. So 5 goals in 880 mins, 176 mins a goal which isn’t bad at all. He got a freak injury at Forest and lost his place, but his record is good.

Simms has improved in every aspect of his came. If we take into account the end of last season, he is one of our form players. His goals to game ratio is exceptional.

What the Grimes out advocates cannot provide is an alternative. Onyeka? Possibly. But the fact is whoever plays in there in a 2 us beat before we start. We’re sacrificing the middle of the pitch to play with 2 wide players. Grimes may not be the best but it’s the system that doesn’t help.

What the Grimes out advocates cannot provide is an alternative. Onyeka? Possibly. But the fact is whoever plays in there in a 2 us beat before we start. We’re sacrificing the middle of the pitch to play with 2 wide players. Grimes may not be the best but it’s the system that doesn’t help.

Obviously each player will have pros and cons.

Onyeka would provide more energy and defensive stability to the midfield, but we would lose out passing wise. But as we seem to be playing long, and when Grimes does get he now seems to play like Sideways Sammy, is that really much of a loss.

Torp has a better physique (though doesn't use it effectively enough IMO) and is a huge threat from set pieces and has a long range shot on him, which we're seeing this season is a vital thing to have. His passing is decent given the opportunity, though not quite a Grimes' (usual) standard.

Hamer is far more creative and also has more attacking ability, but with his fitness levels he'd be way off the pace,teams would just play around him and he'd be done by half-time. But again, it's not like Grimes is being a rock in midfield either.

Even Eccles, if fit, could provide something different. He would certainly have more tenacity and get stuck in, and on his day he's not bad at shooting and his passing is alright. Certainly better than Grimes anyway. But is he lacking that bit of quality and better teams would get past him too easily.

So all of them have positives and negatives and no-one can say any of them would be a success. But what we do know is that Grimes isn't working and it's insanity to continue doing the same thing and expecting a different result. We need to try something different, the other options we have do offer that and seeing as we can't sign anyone for another couple of months we might as well give them a chance.
