Macanuff is being harshly done by here. Maybe as he is seen as a crybaby black? I dont get it

What he really said was he was DISAPPOINTED teams didnt take a knee

He then said it didn't happen for his team either last week and that too DISAPPOINTED him

Seems very honest and very consistent? At no point did he aim any digs at managers or players and infact backed up what warbutten said.

Why? I'd support them refusing to play if players were being racially abused... But booing an organisation and movement that have put racial relations back 30 years is absolutely what should be done... They say they aren't backing the organisation BLM, but they use the same slogans etc that they use, Infact several media sites were claiming they were a terrorist organisation 3 or 4 years ago .. Fuck them... Remember when Jo Cox was killed by a right wing lunatic and everybody blamed the wankers Britain's first etc... Then the same should be happening with the destruction and police deaths in the name of BLM awful group, awful people, awful leaders.

Once again this belongs in off topic

Because it's their decision to make that stance. By denying them the oportunity to do a small gesture I think it's pretty obvious who would be trying to suppress things and it isn't some wild marxism conspiracy.

If they want to do it then let them, if they don't they they shouldn't have to. It's only a big deal because people have to be livid with rage about everything the 'other side' do all the time. Get off Facebook and stop being fed into some bullshit culture war.

I'm not on Facebook, BLM the group are bordering on domestic terrorism, its a fine line... Nobody should support it but we are Told we have to... People say the difference between the movement and the organisation needs to be separated but it can't be as its been driven by the organisation... Why do people ignore this fact.

Also as with things like diversity training failing at workplaces, people don't like being told by people they are bad and they must think a certain way... It's destined to fail and create more hatred

Literally nobody is saying we have to. CCCFC wanted to and QPR didn't and we didn't do it. That means those that don't want to take priority of those that do. It's a small gesture of support for equal rights, nothing more.

This is so uncontroversial, I really don't know what the argument is. If people want to support a cause, fair play to them. if people don't want to show their support in that way, then fine, not taking a knee doesn't make somebody a racist.

I would wonder how much contradiction will out when we go into the annual poppy fascism when the likes of James McClean don't wear one...

This is such a spectacular self own

People making a small gesture in support of racial unity are only being told they're bad if they are actual racists.

I am in full agreement that if they do it that's fine if not then that's also fine... What got my back up is sky acting semi outraged by it as if to force it on sportsmen and women.

This is wrong, that's my take

Shouldn't really whinge about other teams not doing it when the team he is captain of didn't do it either? Why didn't he arrange for them to get out early and do it at 2.58 to make a statement?

Meanwhile the other 2 presenters weren't wearing BLM badges.

It was the first game they'd covered since March in which it didn't happen, it was bound to be a talking point and if it happened to be at another game then nobody here would have picked up on it.

It's not whinging is it? He was asked a question on live telly and he answered it.

He said last week he went to ref and asked why not. Maybe that was seconds before kickoff? Maybe the idea didnt come to him? Lots of reasons why and he doesn't need to give us answers. He is allowed to be disappointed.

Then why not shout Black Parity or Black Equality? It's incredibly clumsy terminology, just like Defund the Police. Don't allow any ambiguity into the message. Unless the ambiguity is put there deliberately to allow the goalposts to move but the message stay the same. You start by saying this phrase is about us gaining equality, then if/when parity is achieved it becomes about becoming more powerful and dominant but as the message hasn't changed anyone who tries to highlight this change can still be decried as racist.

It's a natural instinct to want to be more powerful. There will be people within many communities who want their viewpoint to hold sway over others. There will be black people who want domination over other races just as there are white, women who think they should have dominion over men, Groups throughout history have gone from being the persecuted minority to the dominant one yet still play the persecution card. This is especially true in religion. Christianity still has a massively dominant position in much of the western world yet constantly plays the role of persecuted under attack victim despite them being responsible for much of the persecution that is actually happening against groups like gays, trans, womens rights etc.

Are you seriously saying “black lives matter” is worse than “black equality”?

sounds to me like the problem is your (and lots of others’) interpretation of what’s actually a very simple statement.

Getting quite disappointed with this place really. Seems so many posts daily that turn into politics and right v left etc. We all come here as City fans, tbf it's probably the only thing that unites us. We all have different backgrounds, not only religion, colour or political affiliation bht demographics of finance, job, parents, area even town, right through to IQ. Need to get a bit more respect for each other, know that our views aren't the only correct ones and be generally a bit nicer and stick to debating about the City. Leave all this crap for Twitter or FB or whatever site you like to rant on.

To be honest it's one of the few football threads that can probably justify taking a political turn.

Though in my opinion the root cause of it was Sky who were out of order to both clubs last night.

Again, it makes him look like a bit of a hypocrite when he goes straight into moaning about it not happening even though it's probably not happening at most games.

He could have quite easily arranged for his players to do it, he didn't though did he? The other presenters didn't bother wearing their BLM badges?

Fact is, Sky wanted to try and whip up a storm. Warbuton made them look like pricks.

Agree with this. Sky were loving the controversy

All comes from the top. Let's notforget last season they were happy to shut down Neville aboit racism when it didn't suit their agenda. The backlash makes them now want to try and profit from moments like yesterday

Its like me whinging at you for not going to games and not bothering to go myself

The root cause is the host doesn't know enough about football so goes on for a bit about non-football stuff to pad it out as she knows the two footballers on the panel will have to agree. She was poor and the two idiots they brought in at the end were also-just a sign of the decline in quality of their coverage

Sky coverage was fucking shite. I know this is separate to the point being discussed but, apart from the little videos at the start, the whole thing was rubbish, crap presenter, crap pundits, abysmal commentators (the co-commentator in particular didn't have a fucking clue) and buying and playing a now tv day pass was a nightmare.

I wen't for paying the £10 and making sure it worked last night just incase and it still cut out a couple times, I won't be making the same mistake again.

Their attitude was that both clubs weren't bothered about the cause, thankfully Warbuton made them look like dicks.

Not much different to how somebody loved the NHS more as they clapped 67 times and not 23.

Have to defend the 2 pundits at end. They are experts on the football league and exactly the type of pundit required rather than judt ex players who would rather make it to the premier league coverage

These 2 lads did a great podcast and spoke well about cov. I expect them to be on your telly alot more hopefully.

I agree, I don’t get why these people are getting so fucking angry. Do they also kick off when Help The Aged adverts come on as they’re discriminatory to young people, and send in angry emails saying “we should help all ages, you woke, lefty snowflake”? Do diabetics go mental when they see adverts for Cancer Research?

Yet as soon as the word “black” is involved, the entire cause is classified as domestic terrorism, a political plot to undermine & destroy the white race, the police, capitalism, and all hell breaks loose with people chucking in words they don’t really understand.

This whole ‘incident’ is horseshit, it’s an irrelevance, it doesn’t matter at all, but it’s being pounced on by people with some serious defensiveness issues to offload all their bile & insecurities.

We get Sky Go through the in-laws for free so it didn't cost us any extra to watch. But seeing them talk about players not doing a gesture for about as much time as they were football, and then to see managers getting pestered about it as well made me want to turn it off. Warburton spoke a lot of sense, look at what else the club actually does off the pitch and not just a gesture that doesn't do anything

By the way, when discussing BAME problems, then you cant just blame white people...
Crime, culture, education and the fact they harm each other at alarming rates CANNOT be ignored and must be discussed sensibly... As that cant happen without everybody shouting racist, not alot will change. Create a balanced argument, discuss the problems, try and create change.

Most people call that equality don't they... Balanced structural change that helps everybody in life

White man bad = not an argument
